  1. It'll be fuckin meltdown on here when Shagger eventually loses a couple of games For those who may be affected if this occurs, The Samaritan's can be contacted on 08457 90 90 90, 24 hours a day
  2. I find that quite sad Wellfan. I'm pretty sure my C&A tinted specs are off when I say that probably Berra is the only one of that lot ahead of Reynolds. The time old addage will be proven when he leaves i.e. he'll become a regular in the squad - like a few before him - he was actually good enough / the self same player during his time here.
  3. Reynolds has been solid for weeks. Did anyone catch Caldwell's display v's Bolton? - i have to say it puts that Norway one in the shade. They were actually laughing at how bad he was on that review show on Sky yesterday. Given what we have available to pick. Mark Reynolds has to be in the next Scotland squad. I'd have him before Kenneth, Caldwell, Wallace and McManus
  4. Make the two end sections at the corner of the East and Cooper (the last block of seats in each stand if you know what I mean), available for a £12 'pre-book' for the last 4 or 5 games of the season. (obviously no ST holder's seats if there are many in there) the pre-book is available up til the friday of the match - then it's normal pay at the gate prices on match day. An incentive for the waverers to get mobilised. if it works it works if it doesny the nowt has been lost.
  5. You can really! I'm delighted with the run that we're on - and it's obviously brilliant to see the team winning. But the two men regardless of what you think of either have / had different aims and objectives for the way ahead which have been argued to death elsewhere, but meant that they used very different starting XIs. Not getting into it again - but we're not comparing apples with apples - and the two men clearly explained to us very different philosophies on the way they were trying to take Motherwell forward we need to recognise that.
  6. I think that's a bit harsh - If only Mark Reynolds could aspire to say - Caldwell's performamance for Scotland vs Norway away! that was a blinder! (A blinder in the sense that every time he went near the action I covered my eyes)
  7. Future captain material I think Very perceptive opening post from fizoxy Great also to see johnstone eat humble pie!
  8. I think you'll find it was you who came in with the - but that's neither here nor there. I agree the comments could come from any manager and are very honest comments at that from Brown. I remember thinking exactly the same thing though with Gannon's comments on the radio after the cup tie. I can see very clearly the difference between Gannon and Brown by the way I'm just concerned for everyone's mental health if Brown loses a few. (I say Brown loses a few as it's managers that win and lose games at our club - not players). It'll be meltdown man!
  9. Don't take everything so seriously Brazilian. A wee tongue in cheek post never hurt anybody. However, apologising to the travelling fans, making early changes (made two but could have made seven), the formation no' workin / tactics misfiring, players in different positions. . . . . . . I think you might find more of a comparison can be made than you suggest. Your blind loyaly is heart warming though - keep it up
  10. Neither can I based on his ramblings on BBC. Brown's comments on the beeb are very reminiscent of the beginning of Gannon's unfankling post the CIS cup tie. Broon's heading for soot jugglin classes.
  11. I predict a 'Slane-esque' thread here.
  12. It's just symptomatic of the contempt that the 'middle order' of scottish football is regarded by the media and the authorities. I've said this for many years - there would be uproar if the 2nd to 12th teams in England were reported on in the same way that the equivalent teams are up here. It's where the whole picture falls down north of the border. Anything outwith the old firm is lower league football. if 5th beat 2nd in England it's great - if 5th beats 2nd here it's a shock giant killing act. The Old Firm have a stranglehold over all the resources, a vast majority of the football public, the ear of the media and almost complete control over the direction of the SPL. A bit of stability and lack of fear for the middle order isn't anything that should be scorned. A larger league should mean football without fear and a bit more solid long term planning for a good few clubs. Graham Spiers can go rub his gums wi shite! Edit: in response to MJCs point, I agree GS can write a good article and I take on board what you say. however every now and then he throws in a pile of shit like this. The term yo-yo team in football means a club that flits between promotion and relegation on a regular basis. We're hardly the first club that should be wheeled out to illustrate a 'yo-yo' club.
  13. That's a great point. Gannon is quite clearly being demonised - but the percentage of successful signings is way way up there. I also think the players were as much to blame as Gannon for the bad run. Brown and Knox's motivational skills are there to be seen - however don't be fooled that there won't be a run of bad results at some point. The run we are on at the moment is great and Brown is showing his motivational and man management strengths vs Gannon quite clearly. Brown has the annual clear out / recruitment process to negotiate - if he's half as successful as Gannon was I'll be well pleased.
  14. It may have appeared like that to the 'casual' observer I'll get me coat
  15. Don't start this 'offended' pish Ladyshave. I'm not by any stretch of the imagination offended or have I spat the dummy - i wasn't held up on Saturday as I just walked past the barrier from the taggarts end and walked straight past the bottle / can checking stewards. I and others are just putting a different view to yours forward on an internet forum. Stating why I think it could make peoples 'matchday experience' poorer (now this is something that the club want to know about and have asked about) I discuss all the pertinent issues relating to the club - always have always will and I can do it simultaneously on here at the same time I'm discussing this pish.
  16. I wasn't searched at St Johnstone either, although you tend to expect a quick grope from someone at away grounds. Which kinda highlights the point that Optimus and Ladyshave areny getting - which others are putting. People don't go to away games particularly Porkheid and Iboax because you get treated like shite. It's very true - it's been mentioned numerous times on here. It's hard lines if it's gonna happen before what many regard as our own front door. We're all intelligent enough to understand the reasoning behind it (sort of). However it makes some people feel uncomfortable, inconvenienced, under suspicion and devalued. Argue round the rest of it if you like. That's the fuckin nuggets of it. If I want to get some growler wi a high vis jacket to give me a quick rummle - I'd drive down to strathy and find a doggers car park - save me £240 a year and give me the oppertunity to see some green foliage in the process
  17. Firstly - rab, calm yer jets. The thing is - people dislike being herded and have some random /unknown person frisk them at the best of times - that's purely human nature. The thing is that it has never happened to the home support at our home games and additionally I cannot remember a bottle or can being thrown on the park in recent history. (a mars bar, a cup and the odd pie yes) - but nothing sinister. So folk are quite rightly wondering what has changed. i go back to my original question - if what has happened in recent weeks is a specific solution to something - then what was the actual problem. people will tolerate stuff like this if they are given due consideration, warned in advanced and provided with a reasonable justification. I admit that it's really unfortunate for the club - however the reality is that we really rely on the loyalty of a relatively small number of people through the home gates week in week out. The entertainment level can be 'questionable' at times an the spectacle is being ruined by a crap pitch. One more reason for people to roll their eyes and switch off is one too many. Folk don't like being surprised, folk don't like a change to the norm, folk don't like inconvenience, folk don't like to feel intimidated or under suspicion - to any degree. And no matter how hard we argue that it's common sense and we should just put up with the inconvenience - it's all for the greater good etc etc etc. People experience those feelings in that environment and are made feel uncomfortable. if people feel uncomfortable they'll avoid experiencing it. A pre-warning and explanation from the club would lessen that. The uneasy reaction is purely human nature and a service provider that was 'on the ball' would have predicted that.
  18. its a fair point Welldel. I have never thought that Quinn, Smith or Hammell were international class although at times I've felt that hammell was a good as what we had) I admit I view the world through C&A tinted specs. however, all that asid i feel we have had players that merit inclusion (or more regular inclusion in the Scotland squad) Kaiser definitely was one, Reynolds is another. If a football fan believes that Gary Kenneth is a better addition to the international set-up than Mark Reynolds then we seriously have some problems understanding what football actually is. Its about a comparison at the time on who's available / fit for a particular game - and sometimes, just sometimes - i think the guy playing week in week out in claret and amber is better than those in the squad.
  19. A bit condecending but interesting nonetheless Ladywell My prediction is that going down this route will eventually become an issue. Everyone understands the need for stewarding and will cooperate if they know what is gong on and why but if the execution is pish then it can be counterproductive. The heavyhanded stewarding of the away end on non OF days and of the lads in the East Stand is consistently poor. The double standards when the OF roll into town and what they are allowed to get away with is actually a disgrace. Speaking to my cousin today and like him I'd like to know what authority they actually have in law as a steward to search people and whether they've been through any type of disclosure. It could all be handled a bit better - no doubt. The club need to be really sure with each new initiative that it's well thought out, well communicated and won't have the effect of turning people off. Folk are scunnered with the fitba in general - no matter how good a run we're on - we should be careful that we're no trotting out 'straws that break the camel's back' every couple of weeks
  20. Folk would be more supportive of it if it was communicated beforehand If the barriers need to be in place - how about making them T shaped to allow folk to enter from either side as they normally do without forcing them onto the road. that would also mean the stewards would be split 50 / 50 either side and would discourage most of them from blethering to each other at the top of one bottleneck. Just a suggestion. These measures wont stop a lighter, a mars bar duo or an empty coffee cup or pie from the catering being launched - that's the things that I've seen launched recently at Fir Park.
  21. OK I'm not holding anything up mate - there's no delay or queue build up with me - i just walk staright past to the turnstile and into the ground avoiding the question. It's those guys that are adding delays with their frisking and new barrier set up
  22. Don't be a fanny Dead Star we all know and understand the law on controlled containers. People are talking about a significant change in the way the turnstyles are being policed at Fir Park over the the last 4 or 5 games.
  23. If the barriers and extra security are a solution to something - what was the problem that it was addressing? No one appears to know No communication beforehand from the security firm or the club on the reason for it which always rankles. the measures seem to be increasing week on week. I must admit being a cantankerous old git that has come to Fir Park for approaching 40years and heading in through the ST gate it really pisses me off to be asked if I've any bottles or cans. So far I've just stared at the staff who have asked me and refused to answer. It's a simple question with a simple answer I know but it's unexplained shit like this that switches people off.
  24. On next apparently - 'Well vs Hamilton
