We're A Fickle Hypocritical Bunch That Have Pish Chants
Steve Diggle replied to Steve Diggle's topic in Club Chat
Yeah we all know that and agree, but why ruin all the many many positives with such a stupid chant??? -
I reckon we can fast forward 3 games and go straight for "Craig Brown Paedophile - Oh oh oh oh oh . . . . " - I mean it's gonna happen shortly anyway. Maybe he should be the first manager that hears it when he's in the post
-
I'm thinking there was maybe more of a Paul le Guen / Barry Ferguson situation happening (allegedly, of course). While McGarry can be excused (a bit) as we've known for a time that he's been off. Jim O'Brien's stuff exposed himself a bit.
-
Yeah, that about sums it up. For me - the reasons for Gannon going reflect as badly on others as the do on the man himself.
-
Yeah, thanks SD - I seen some of the the facebook stuff from McGarry and JOB posted elsewhere - not all that proffessional I don't think, but hey they're due a personal life. Like I said elsewhere - no matter what Gannon has or hasn't done - I dont think anyone comes out of this not smelling of shite, the players included and some more than others I suspect. I'll support the new guys as well although I'm still to be convinced it's the right move if I'm being 100% honest.
-
I actually know for a fact that the points that he has made is exactly what he believes. Heaven forbid we all have the same opinion.
-
No really that much in the way of specifics coming through.

Right first off this a genuine question and in no way a fishing trip. In a lot of what I've read or heard in the press and on here about Gannon's departure - the recurring theme is that according to 'good football people' within the sieve that is Fir Park that the man was an absolute nightmare. I've heard / read Billy Dodds, Craig Paterson, Tam Cowan various columists, various posters on here all say the same thing. The players are obviously glad and their risky Facebook stuff shows that to be true and a couple that I thought had improved under Gannon have openly stated their pleasure at him going (JOB and Reynolds for instance) However we're running an SPL club and trying to break out of the shackles a wee bit - we're no' a Poker School so what exactly is it that was so objectionable. I'm OK with things being turned on their head and players being made to work hard at different approaches - but apparently things under Gannon went too far. I was OK with his rant at the refs - nothings changed there and we continue to see glaring inconsistences - us at Tyncastle and the OF at Parkhead today bear that out. Many didn't like that and again Tam Cowan had a go in his column. Senior players being disrespected? I was OK with them being dropped in preference for a long term strategy of building a young side. I'd have Reynolds, Hutch, Saunders, Hateley, Coke, Forbes any day in preference to Craigan and McGarry. But how far did this go to on a daily basis. I've said in other threads that the situation with the contract is unacceptable 'all round'. Very close to his appointment the Motherwell chairman, our legal team, Gannon, and Gannon's representative should have been locked in a meeting room and a deal should have been thrashed out. If an impasse was reached then Gannon should have walked. However that should have been driven by John Boyle and that should have been no later than August / Early September. Obviously I don't have the info that's been leaked out and I'm genuinely interested - so what actually happened? I think, like in most things the truth will be somewhere in the middle and hope Gannon eventually has his say.

No one's gonna buy it mate - we're probably 2 yrs too late / 2 years too early I think that's the whole point mate. It's been well discussed many times on this site. We're in a major predicament - the only way out is selling to a property developer and that ain't gonna happen for at least a year. And we obviously don't have the funds required to rebuild.
-
Yeah but selling the groung that Fir park stands on would fund a new stadium. We have no money to upgrade what we have. The costs will still run to over a million easy
-
The money that would take would be significant and I personally think both need to be bulldozed and replaced with a steeper higher stands. I don't know if the club have costed scenarios like this as it's probably the one that would be the most popular amongst well fans and it's not clear if there's any activity going on behind the scenes to save for or fund the 'stay at Fir Park' option. So it looks like when any recovery eventually comes we'll be selling up shop and using the funds to build on a brown field site somewhere else.
-
Happy New Year everybody! All the best for 2009!
-
I'd imagine it's a difficult one for the club and maybe a totally fresh / different approach is required. I'm not too sure how 'worthwhile' a franchise is for a company to operate the kiosks for just over 2hrs, 20 times a season. However there's no reason why the food is so poor. It's really bad.

That half hearted attempt at justification is blown out the water as it's accompanied by a Nazi salute mate.

Aye. It's 100% true. I turned round and look staright at the guy with the taig comment. He just gave me a wee 'how do you do' nod and looked away. I might not be every one's cup of tea mate - but I ain't a liar. -

PM recieved and appreciated mate. My post was sent before the initial PM and it's not an attack its an explanation. I was angry at Craigan for reverting to type and doing what he's bad at - instead of doing what he has clearly been shown as a more productive way of playing. I think his form is poor and he should be nowhere near the first team regardless of his achievements and length of service. It doesn't mean I don't have a high regard for everthing that he's achieved. But last night was like "brilliant I can go back to humping the ball anywhere" The reference to my mates comment was light hearted and should have had a smiley. As well as the 'seig heil Motherwell' chants we had Jim Gannon Paedophile (following on from the Mark McGhee stuff). My mates 'joke' was around Craig Brown having an affair with a 20yr old or whatever a few years back that broke in the news. His main point tho was "what is it with you lot and these paedophile chants" I also heard one of our own players refered to as a 'wee taig' and saw a couple of guys 'celebrating' Boyd's achievement at Ibrox as the news filtered through at the end of the match. We also had 'Who The Fuck is Jim Gannon' from the self same guys that less than a week ago we're singing Jim Gannon's Well Army (substituted by Craig Brown's name last night) and the Bond theme thing obviously had Archie's name in for Peter Ward. Hey we're probably all fickle - cant be denied - I just wanted to hear folks views on it. -

That was a clever one too Gaag - I see what you did there also. I genuinely thought there was more of a discussion in there. I'll away and start a thread about the "best looking motor on the hard shoulder" will I? -

Not at all Frazzle - no need for that - we all react differently to posts by an individual and I know from plenty of experience that my views can be a bit different to the commonly held views. Obviously I've triggered something there - but that's fine it's a fans forum for discussing shit innit? I dunno if I've ruffled the 'zilians feathers earlier. -

That was quite clever Brazilian - I see what you did there. If you think that throwing all that returning to big diagonal punts that never find their man and have the ball coming straight back at us is the way to go that's cool - and if you disagreed with my post you could have did it in the thread that you went to all the trouble of cutting and pasting it from. Me personally I think Gannon showed Craigan the error of his ways and in his absence Saunders, Hutch and Reynolds have shown that we are capable of crisp, sharp passing out of defence on the deck I didn't attack you personally did I? Did I? I just opened up a discussion that's all mate. -
Aye, We're a fickle hypocritical bunch that have pish chants Discuss (like it says)
-
I had a great day today - Hearts away is always a good jaunt, Positives were Jennings and Jim O'Brien But lets not by any manner of means think everything has just turned rosy. We were pish and created next to fuck all. Saunders is a centre back not a right back. All the bad practice that Gannon knocked out of Craigan has returned. Fucking knob! Back to hopeless punts all over the fucking place. McGarry back in the fold - for fuck sake! We had a neutral along with us tonight - a wee bit bemused with a few of the chants particularly the seig heil shit - however he did ask that since we now have a manager that HAS shagged a minor will we now stop referring to our ex managers as paedophiles???? I don't have the answer to that one.
-
Glad you think so. Were you there?
