Aye his position is that he'd rather not be captain as he'd rather concentrate on his game. Apparently if he's captain there's a risk that every one of his sclafs out of defence could fall to the opposition.
-
I'm guessing that you're unaware that he aired his views while McGhee was the manager.
-
Additionally the way visiting supporters have been treated in the South has been a disgrace of late. Unless you're talking about the grusome twosome.
-
Oh and like someone alluded to. Concentrating stewarding on where the young guys congregate and generate a bit of banter / atmosphere and escorting a few out every match day isn't part of a successful recruitment strategy. Esecially when their OF supporting chums get to stand for the whole 90 when the come to pay a visit
-
It would be one that would suit him as he done his FIFA license work there with Grady who's now moved upstairs, apparently their youth set up is bang on. I think the Preston or Sheff Wed jobs will be others he'll be after. Good Luck wherever he goes from me as well mate.
-
Aye, but one of the attributes of a captain would preferably be a desire to be captain. therein lies a wee problem for Steven (unless he's changed his much publicised view)
-
The answer is an agressive anti Old Firm campaign in the schools - so we're stuffed. The generational thing will continue ad-infinitum - weans will follow the OF because their dad did and his dad did etc etc etc.
-
Some Ronseal stuff on the roof and the seats ripped oot are all thats required. The old cage down the middle and a gate at the south stand end for away fans would be the icing on the cake.

Although we never seen the thing come to fruition - I believe Gannon's philosophy on youth in this very short spell will pay dividends. While McGhee was quite happy to see many of these young guys move on (Slane and Forbes were both offski were they not?) or continue in the 19's. gannon threw them in as the bones of the team. Hutch and Saunders signing contracts were big bonusesfor the club. I think in the coming weeks as Pantomime season ends the balance will be redressed a wee bit and I'll think Gannon will be less of the villain of the piece. And anybody who tells the press, the SFA and the referee's that they're pish is OK by me too. We go to great lengths on here almost to a man on the above - yet when our manager does it somehow, suddenly it's all wrong and he's doing the club no favours. Where's the scratchy heid hypocrisy emoticon?
-
In recent weeks that would most likely be "Can you fetch that ball out the net for me mate" I'd go for Jenno or Coke if either of them are keen on staying. I believe Reynolds will be away (otherwise it would be him I'd plump for) For all that it appears Gannon hasn't helped his own situation - like I mentioned elsewhere no one is squeeky clean in this whole thing and Craigan for me appears a wee bit Barry Ferguson to Gannon's Paul le Guen.

I think this could be a complete fuck up.

Peter Ward's comments - something in all of this is a bit 'fishy'

Gannon Sacked! Motherwell Part Company with Manager
Steve Diggle replied to steelman1991's topic in Club Chat
Mega disappointing news yesterday. Had really high hopes for The Gannon Revolution and what he was trying to do. Unfortunately I don't think there's any of parties involved that don't come out of this smelling of shite. Gannon - obviously piss poor that he wouldn't commit to a contract. John Boyle - For not employing a manager on a fucking contract from day 1. The Players - well we've all been watching recently when things have dipped - all of it can't be laid at Gannon's door. The club is about as leaky as the Belgrano as well - and it's time that was sorted. When the stuff about Gannon's contract initially aired on both forums a few months back I was a bit skeptical - however now it's all come to pass - you have to ask yourself how watertight the ship actually is. Putting the rights and wrongs to one side the contract is personal between the club and the individual. If someone is getting access to this info and acting like a funnel gub - then I'm sorry but it needs sorting. We're a club at risk at the moment with this turn of events. We might end up keeping (even building a team around) some players that are well past their sell by. We might end up losing some promising players on loan or short term deals We might lose the saleable asset(s) - when in reality it might actually now be in our best interests to keep him / them. There could be tensions in the camp as there are obviously a lot of younger guys that have benefited from Gannon's regime who may now find that the old guard have the ball at their feet again. We actually might very rapidly end up at exactly the same point we were at when Muttley took the high road. Let's hope we get something sorted out - that take Motherwell forward in a similar way to what Gannon intended (with a bit less friction). The worst thing that could happen is that we hand the reins over to experienced interim guys who bring in James Grady, Paul Tosh type signings i.e. past it journeymen fuds who'll play alonside McGarry. I think looking big picture - an unavoidable decision, but a(nother) bad day for the club that was entirely avoidable, had we done things correctly in the first place. C'mon the Well PS Anyone else think Burma sounds a bit like Ice-Rink? (No offence intended or critique of your posts - I just think your posts read like the 'serious' alter ego of the legendary wind up merchant) -
This sums it up. We can't even grudgingly admit that our whipping boy has done anything right. If you think yass contributed one cross in the game - then I have to conclude that you weren't there. Yassin had FOUR decent crosses in the first half and was approaching our best performer in the first 45, and overall was nowhere near our worst player over 90 mins although like most he fell away badly in the the 2nd. But don't let any of that stand in the way of this weekly sport.

Why Can't Some Of Our Fans See The Bigger Picture?

Why Can't Some Of Our Fans See The Bigger Picture?

It's a really bad string of results and performances. Formations aren't working and changes aren't working positively for us. It's not good and it might last for another few games- not one single person is denying that. But at the end of the day - so fuckin what! When the goin' get's tough - the tough get goin' right enough. Folk should have a long hard look at themselves. I'm supposed to be the chief pant wetter on here - but fuck sake guys you're putting me to shame over the past couple of weeks. A few pointed out at the start of the season - even Gannon alluded to it himself. Things are gonna be different from now - a young team will be thrown together - to grow and develop for the future. We'll have dips in form particularly since we had a busy close season, take some humpings but we're gonna try and develop a team. So this becomes reality and all of a sudden half of Fir Park are shitting their pants! We're above teams who have settled squads, and had their poor spells at the start of the season some will over take us some like Dundee Utd might implode and fall away. We constantly have a laugh about how quickly old firm fans turn when things are not going their way - then we go and behave exactly the same way. I firmly believe the future is in the young guys - If you thought post Ibrox that the answer to our woes is Craigan and Lasley then I believe you got your answer yesterday. Aye bring on Ian McCall or Jimmy Calderwood - that's the answer -
Las was never at any stage the best player on the park and he signalled to the bench quite clealy to hook him because he was injured. And Jim O'Brien looked anything but disinterested particularly in the first half
-
Great Post. We'll come good again - just like the teams who are currently collecting points will slump. I cant believe we're actually seeing a debate elsewhere on whether Jim Gannon or Ian McCall would be better for the club.
-
Thanks mate. However if things were truly as bad as some folk made out there would be no point in getting up in the morning.
-
I hope it's part of a plan to get rid of pish Motherwell supporters
-
I'm with you all the way MFC An if anyones looking for a right back to be 'ploughing' their trade then it shows the type of player we're after. I'm away to 'ply' my trade as an internt forum poster
-
I don't think we NEED to do anything - other than stay up. We all knew this young team would have a bad spell and we take a fair few humpings. Its amazing that it hasn't happened up till now. We'll come back from it stronger - maybe on Sat maybe not. Folk need to go away and change their breeks. Time to keep yer tights dry people
-
Shit, I'll need to go on a diet. No way am I bearin ma breists to the TV cameras at home games!
-
Don't think so mate - I know SC Dave's very well - he's my nephew. Have no clue who Nijholt 91 is.
