What gets me the most about these threads is the lack of understanding of what Jim Gannon is trying to do at Motherwell!
-
So do I mate - I only pointed out that it was discussed about a week ago elsewhere in a thread devoted to all transfer talk that most of the regular posters visit. Take that as a slagging if you like. Me personally, I don't think it is.
-
Yeah make it contactual for a manager to speak to the press, but make them pay for an SPL license that can be cancelled banning them from printing anything about an SPL club if they a) print a made up transfer story b) deliberately misquite or more importantly c) don't divide their column inches equally into 12
-
Cheers mate! Or maybe you thought your thread was a belter and was better than everyone elses.
-
This has already been in the Ins and Outs or january Transfer window thread
-
Personally I'd've put it in the Ins and Outs or January Transfer window thread. However if what you say is accurate why would a highly respected EPL manager sanction such a ludicrous swap. or are you just hoping any scout he's sent up is blind to Ruddy's ascendency or Forbes slight blip?

hence the game in Scotland is in the grubber. We'd rather talk about boxing than anybody playing decent fitba. And I'm not saying match reports and coverage should be inane drivel. The media have a responsibility to cover the football match. If we're looking to read the bullshit than you're playing into their hands. The sooner all the bodies involved in scottish football start to sell it and look to the positives - like the young players coming through, like the stuff that hibs and dundee utd and ourselves can play on occasion as opposed to all that tedious shit about who hit who in the Douglas Park tunnel. We need to get arses on seats and quickly. we need to show football on the telly at a decent hour so that kids of all incomes nowadays have a decent chance to see good players showing decent skills - and we need to stop accentuating all the negative shit that goes on in the background. The tittle tattle might be interesting to some but if you take a step back it's actually (one of the things) that's strangling our game.

So this weekend we have Murphy and Hammell's yellow, Hibs first goal, Falkirk being hard done to (but we won't do a Gannon), Hearts' Suso's 2nd yellow and their 'non' penalty in injury time. No doubt there's hunners more Another good weekend for the SPL refs then

This whole thing has highlighted one of the fundamental flaws in the whole set up. I believe as Motherwell fans we're entitled to know Gannon thoughts and if that's limited to the official website, the local press and the matchday programme - I'm perfectly happy with that. The national papers and telly forget that their job, and their placer in the food chain is to 'report on the match' - that is Hibs played well, Motherwell played badly, player x had a nuber of good chances, player y set up a few etc etc etc. Their 'need' to incorporate managers comments and the desire to constantly stir things up by including every morsel of controversy actually shows THEM up. They see their role as the catalyst to constant controversy and are the bearers of constant negativity. I know I mentioned this before - but when we were running the GLF fanzine a great contributor (Terry Willoughby) used to send us up match reports from the past - reporters used to actually describe in their report what actually happened in the match and in a real positive light - i.e. focusing on the good play from wherever in the match first and foremost (i.e the goals) then describing anything else of note that went on. These days it's arse over tit and everyone from the SFA, through the press, and the TV focus on the controversy and the negatives - and its 100 times worse here than it is in England. Anyone flicking between hamilton v Hearts and Scunthorpe v Coventry on Sky yesterday would see that it's like flicking between some junior game and a senior professional league match (which it obviously was).

I think it does. And, I know a lot of folk disagree, the majority of our goals have come from free kicks and penalties he has won through running at defences. I also get the feeling though that Jim has decided to go and that the details have already been discussed in informal channels between his agent and McGhee. That's just a hunch though.
-
I'm sure Jim won't be too fussed with this. So The Herald write an article saying that Jim has spat the dummy out in a whole article where The Herald spit the dummy out. Roon them

After correctly predicting a draw last week. He has us down for a draw again this week. What an utter BASTARD!
-
People comma on here and hyphen things all up without any exclamation. Bracket In Trucks!! Someone should put a full stop to you apostrophe for humour before someone ends up getting forward slashed (or back slashed). Colon yersel a supporter????
-
That's a fear point haggis and only right you should flag that up!
-
I get the impression it's more about inconsistencies and not allowing the game to flow through continually stopping the game for innocuous challenges, not using advantage rather than specific complaints about decisions against us.
-
he's responsible for the style of football we play and achieving results for MFC. If he feels the standard of refereeing is hampering the game, making it poor fare to watch and having an effect on results then surely he's within his rights to say what he likes. he's also saying that he's only going public now since he's recieved no response. I'm with gannon.
-
But then the twice Gannon has commented - he's outlined what the alleged letters contained. When Dallas responded - he said that he 'had responded'.
-
The guys get loads of recognition on here for the great job they do at creating an atmosphere at the ground. Like us all they get pelters when they make an arse of things

Ask for yer crayons back as well!

Yeah I'm an arrogant kinda guy Fraser! Craigan has been told like the restof the defence - in my opinion - to get the ball down on the deck (mainly) and play it out of defence accurately with a bit of urgency. he's paid the price at half time in a couple of games when he quite clearly wasn't doing that. saunders paid the price in the first half of a Europa game when he wasn't doing what he was supposed to be doing. Reynolds and Saunders (and Hutch) In my opinion if someone isn't doing what Gannon is asking they'll find themselves being handed a training top on the touchline. To this end and watching Yass play. i think he (and Hammell) have been told to get forward as much as possible and Saunders and Hateley have been instructed to fill in for Yass when he's advanced. I don't think like many posters have said - he's playing 'out of position' i think he's playing exactly where he's been told to play. Or he'd be off the park. I don't think he's a world beater, however I don't think he deserves the criticism he gets. In fact I genuinely believe some folk need a scapegoat and yass is currently 'it' and he's part of a long line and it's something that really bugs me about the Motherwell support. Keith Lasley quite clearly cost the equaliser on Saturday - I don't see anyone going mental about him. Not that I think they should per se. i just don't understand the 'love in' vs the 'hate in' Anyway I'm repeating myself and Joe says I've only to post the once. . . . . .

And my opinion is one I should hold without being called 'happy clappy' It's been a long old thread - welcome to the latter stages of it

Who do you manage and why is your opinion better than mine?
