  1. Every goal stems somewhere from someone losing possesion or making a mistake. Best idea is not to get hung up on it - only end up turning players into the new Fitzpatrick. btw the goals last night included Steaua several players waltzing across the entire field unchallenged, a nutmeg, an unchallenged header, an oggy. In fact the third goal if I mind right stemmed from an even slacker loss of posession than the 2nd. However it's a game of fitba - played at pace - and involves trying to move and contol a shiny leather spherical object. Shit happens. We don't need to dish oot 12 lashes of the birch efter a spannish inquisition for every goal. C'mon the well
  2. Ruddy had a great game - looked confident and commanding and up for it. he'll dae Humphrey looks like he's got potential - like O'Brien needs to toughen up and work on keeping posession and the final ball - he'll dae Coke - had a good game looks as if there's something there (energy, prowess, determination)that could finally attempt to fill the void left by O'Donnell- he'll dae tae (and in saying that - I mean the role - not the man) Jennings like many players we've brough up from England looks to be off the pace a wee bit - but like everyone from Rab McKinnon to Alan McCormack he'll sharpen up and we'll see what he's capable of - he'll dae anaw! Jim Gannon - he'll dae tae All early days right enough cos in real terms we've seen hee haw of them to pass judgement - but thats my initial thoughts Frazzle old bean They'll all dae - because they've been brought in to play for ma team - and what I dae is get behing the sufferin lot of 'em
  3. Had to be Ruddy Coke had a decent first game though
  4. None of us are in a position to judge and have no clue about the circumstances that the Paul found himself in. We don't need to know any of the whys and wherefores. Players wearing armbands and us paying respects for 60 seconds are effortless acts and wouldn't hurt any of us if these things are being requested of us. As well as paying respects to the guy - we'll also be showing that our thoughts are with the family.
  5. Big positives in Ruddy and Coke - Ruddy looks to be the first 'real' keeper we've had since big Sieb. Some of their play was tremendous and had us chasing shadows. The nutmegs, dummy's and 1-2s were rubbing it in a bit - but hey they were a fair bit ahead of us. Still, with every game we can see the way that Gannon's shaping the team - looks like some of the young lads are definitely ready for the first team, while some will need abit of time. It also looks like the end of the road for one or two familiar faces that have served us well - unfortunately that's what happens - i wish them well if that's the way it pans out. Looking for some salvaging of pride next week - but know it will be tough at home as well. What a brilliant pre-season though. C'mon the Well!
  6. Echo what everyones said they were class. We looked really naive at times though - nutmegs / dummys the lot. Couple of good signings by the look of it. Right back is now the priority

Someone is clearly updating this real time and it's exciting - just checked again an' Wikipedia says that the shirts are currently being held in the border area between Pakistan and Afganistan and will be released by the Tallyvan a couple of days after the ST J game if pre-orders are significant enough. Apparently wee afgannys are double stitching the JAXX logo on as we speak apparently. There's also an update an Al Jerzeya
  8. Great post MB - hard to argue with any of that.
  9. I like Fitzy - I think he's significantly better than he gets credit for. He might be injured for one. Anyway, he'll do OK elsewhere if he goes. And like someone in the know said recently a move might be the best thing for him. If he goes I'll be disappointed but wish him well. Sometimes we don't see the effectiveness of a player until he plays for the opposition.
  10. If you were comparing McLean's best vs McGhee's best - you'd compare that game to the tragic game vs Dundee Utd. Stunning displays of football.
  11. Contary to the previous poster I didn't think the we man had changed much at all since he got his mowgli mop cut in the early 90's - have seen some pictures of him at Bathgate recently and he looked as if he'd hardly aged or changed at all. Not important right now right enough. However the guy was looking well.
  12. Yep true - two good goals in that jam tarts game too. Just had a quick look at a line up from a random game in 1993 Shocking to think Motherwell: Dykstra; Nijholt, McKinnon, Martin, Philliben, Sneddon (Dolan, 83), McGrillen (Kirk, 64), Griffin, Graham, O'Donnell, Cooper.
  13. Thoughts with his family. Really sad news - the wee man was dynamite.
  14. Never said it was definitive I've been wrong before, I think, mibbez, I'm sure I have, must have been, just canny mind it tho
