Makes Klimpl look like Graham Norton. Good digging guys - that looks like the likeliest candidate doesn't it

That's a fair point however I think the earliest they could have had enough detail to get visas would have been after the away leg on 9th July as I'm sure you need to let the embassy know exactly where you're going in that country etc. Still nearly 2 wks. The story indicates it was only last Friday that they kicked the thing off - so if accurate that would be leaving it a bit tight and if true a bit risky. Maybe they're scared the big keeper will go on a runner.

I think we'll look back on this period with a huge sigh of relief. McGhee, Leitch, Hughes, Malcolm, Klimpl are all luxuries I don't think we could have afforded for much longer.
-
I'm only guessing here daza. But I think Gannon is gonny have a flatter wage structure than some of the guys who have managed us into difficulties. More like McLean and Butcher and less like McLeish, Davies and McGhee. I think the days of us breaking the bank to keep a player happy are over. The ones that will be here will fit into the structure. Guys like Hughes and Klimpl don't fit the model anymore in my opinion. Might be proved wrong - but that's what I'm picking up. Hughes just didn't deliver consistently enough for the bucks - much as I admire him as a player.

We've actually struggled by with a lumber support (sometimes admirably to be fair) since we lost Phil. Strength and creativity and goals and leadership all in the one package - what a loss he's been.

Cheers Dodge - our vey own Water Cronkite Interesting stuff. The appraisal off Williams (if that's who the striker is) - ties in with waht the guys who made the Bathgate game were saying.

I only seen him the once or twice - my old man used to rave about him though. Like lightning on the wing apparently. Sad news - hope that life's as good for him as it can be. There's a bit on the Oxford United website - good wee article (unfortunately fails to mention the well tho) http://www.oufc.co.uk/page/News/0,,10342~1329085,00.html Here's the info from neil's ex players page http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/pla.../brianheron.htm

was scanning around for photos of old players - see what heroes of yesteryear look like now Vic Davidson looks like he's a youth coach in Arizona As is Super Ally Nick Cusack - almost the top dog in the PFA

I get where Maxi's coming from - there's a lot of optimism around Gannon at the moment. Bottom line success for us this season after the way things fell apart squad wise tho is survival. On top of that if we get some decent football, some kids coming through, some new signings playing some decent stuff and us challenging for top 6 I'll be chuffed. Achieving Top 6 would be a gargantuan achievement from Gannon. Building a squad that wanted to stay together and didn't want to depart the scene as soon as somebody waved a fresh tenner in front of their nose - would also be a pleasant change. I don't think Gannon needs to lead MFC to a higher league position than The Dons to be a success (but it would be amazing) There have, in my opinion it must be added, some real disloyal swines in our squad (and management obviously) over recent seasons. Not them all tho'

Yeah, I know. But I don't think Jennings will be the last midfielder to join.

I'll go with the Karma. And suggest that Gannon will get a better player for less wages.

I agree with the last part KSS - and it shows what can happen if we give players support instead of pelters. Big difference of opinion here. I think Clarky will do it - his first touch can at times be poor and he needs to stay on his feet - but other times it's absolutely bang on. He can run at and beat defences - and to say he's just a tap in player is ludicrous. the amount of outside / edge of the box shots and clever chips as well as headers he's scored doesn't bear thinking about. (and how shite was his control just before he slipped it past Peter Cech) I sometimes wonder if the folks on here actually go to the games. I'm not saying he's a world beater - but he has the skill and temperament to make a go of it in The Championship.

Picked 5 up on the way home.

I don't think anybody's getting on yer back mate. Just positive encouragement to get you along to do what we can as a unit to cheer the boys on. Also apart from some seedy joint in Leith or Soho where else could you pay a measly £15 quid to have some baldy fat arshole in a skin tight figure hugging claret and amber polyester fitba tap with veins sticking out in his beetroot red neck coverin ye in slevers and snotters as he screams "O'BRIEN YOOOOUURRRR PIIIIIIIISH!!! " Honestly - Live The Dream! ye jist canny whack it You know it makes sense!
-
Get yerself along man - the more of us there the better. 4 full stands will create an atmosphere alright - probably for the first time in that stadiums history as well.
-
Roaring and cheering a team on - helps Boo-ing and criticising them makes things worse It really is as simple as that.

Honka / Bangor Sounds sair

May I take this 'oppertunity' to say I like this wee paragraph Nail - Heid etc! Don't worry Flow - it's not as iff you've to prepare articles for publication on the world wide web or anything. Spelling is old fashioned and over rated anyway.

Most would move for the money, granted. But has he really shown ambition. At well we aim for 3rd / Europe every year and aim for a good cup run and hope that our better performers get international recognition. the Brighton 'project' is a big gamble - which if it works will be great. but there are a few big stadiums in the lower leagues of england with a support much greater than ours to draw on - that are graced by a below average team week in week out
-
Agreed. it was clear form his comments in the press / on the website that he was offski. The comment about lack of ambition - irked me a bit as well. I think it's inaccurate tho, as one of the smaller clubs and given our financial position we've achieved a fair bit. we seem to be able to attract ambitious managers and always aim to end as high up the table as poss. I think the biggest problem is the stepping stone element for players. if we could ever change that - then I think we could surprise a few again - like we did under mclean

Sounds a bit like that new howf in Paisley

I agree with that Ya bezzer - not sure if there's stats anywhere - but I think a retaken penalty is likely to be missed in those circumstances (on the rare occasions when it's been slotted away first time). First time up the taker usually knows what he's gonna do - at a retake there's confusuion about whether to take the same pen plus the disappointment of the decision. I dunno but it probably flips when a player gets a chance to make amends for a saved penalty - if the keeper moves for example - as he's more determined.

OK mate thanks. Yet again you're enquiring after my well being and I'm absolutely and completely fine. Thanks for looking after me on here airfinz. You're lovely. Actually what you might have picked up from my posts is that - I know folk in the supply chain and its a very stressful situation that they're going through and i was asking for a bit of space / time so that they could sort things out and give the responses in due course. You actually dont really like me much do you - you never have. So it's probably best for both of us that you ignore my posts.
