Another good side article in The Scotsman comparing yesterdays dealings of Aberdeen and Real Madrid (the team the sheep beat in the CWC Final in Gothenburg) Real offering 80M for Ronaldo after gettin kaka for 60M The Dons sweating their balls off to hold onto the the 25K gap there is now in their negotiations for McGhee. What's the general chat amongst the Dons fans up there Shotts Well Fan? i've notice a few of their fans having a go at Milne and Miller in the comments under these articles.

Fair point Melvin - I remember watching the Wigan chairman talking about the Bruce / Martinez switch - saying quite clearly that Bruce was allowed to speak to Sunderland as they had agreed compensation and that Wigan had asked for permission to speak to martinez - and he was quite clear that he would have to compensate swansea before he got to discuss terms with Martinez. Look at West Brom with Celtic as well - fair play. I think we've let McGhee speak too early. however Boyle would appear to be holding firm (ooh err) for the appropriate com-pen. just shows you what a bunch of tight arsed wankers Aberdeen are. My worry is that McGhee will get to the point where he tells The Dons to shove it and expects to come back to a bed of roses.

Yo would have thought so star sail Aberdeen will be looking to pay around 50%, hoping that JB compromises a bit and, fuck it if there's a gap in the middle maybe McGhee will make that up out of his own pocket. As Melvin and a few others have said - it's getting to the point where we HAVE to shift McGhee - as there is no way back.

That old fud? *composes email to Mr Miller c/o Mod Corner, Nancy*

I heard about this really early doors (post Romanovgate) - that there was a clause where he would be allowed to be released from his contract with the club if one of a number of teams offered him a position. it was said somewhere else that the teams were named (although that might be just a bit too messy) basically he moves nowhere during this contract unless the new club or himself pays Motherwell 200K.

Andrew, Have you checked http://www.motherwelldirect.co.uk/acatalog/09_TRAINING.html Or are you looking for additional info?
-
I don't doubt your info GM. However - I think it's time to hunt the both of them - they've known the job at Motherwell for a long time and fully understood the financial constraints and their implications. Part of the reason that we aren't bringing in players are their new improved salaries plus things like Bob Malcolms salary. There not entirely to blame for MFC's financial weakness in the transfer market - however they contribute / have contributed to that position. What I'm trying to say in a roundabout way is that if they want to fuck off for a slightly bigger football budget at a slightly bigger club then that's what they should do and fair play to them. They shouldn't turn it round on the financial budget at MFC when they knew fine well what the position has been for a long time. I'm not interested in who MMcG rates - we'll sort it ourselves.

Was he you're live in lover??

The Martinez one is because Wigan canny get a hold of the Swansea chairman to iron out compensation for RM's backroom staff - he's no' answering his phone apparently! Inverness have issued a 'hands off to vultures' warning to Murrawell re Butcher and Malpas http://www.highland-news.co.uk/news/fullst...tures!.html

I don't think so mate. I think his contract will be two way. i'd imagine there's some sort of tie in there for McGhee especially after the improved contract / salary at the end of last year. The precedent was set when Crystal Palace effectively kept Steve Bruce out of his new job for a month when he resigned his post due to non agreement of compo with his new club. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ity/1704971.stm

I'd like to think we're well down the road in the boss search Melvin and that when the compo is agreed we'll move quickly. We cant let Ai-boar-deen haud us to ransom mate.

STV news reporting that failure to agree compensation has yet again delayed the announcement. Go JB!
-
Maybe some are a bit disappointed over the past couple of weeks he hasn't grown a set! "I'd like to be in the frame for manager if anything happens" "I'd like to stay at MFC and assist whoever comes in if anything happens (like last time round with McGhee)" Words along those lines would have prevented any of what's been said today - if he is indeed 'Mr Motherwell'. Perhaps he's just happy to be Mark McGhee's assistant and is happy with the salary that brings. Nothing wrong with that - except he needs then to remember that as football fans people are loyal, passionate and vocal.
-
That's it - over to JB now. Good Luck John. Like folk have said - if we've got 200K and get a manager out of contract - great - pitch repairs (almost) paid. Time to get on with the job of preparing for the season ahead.
-
Looks like the momentum's heading towards an unveiling in sheepville later today. While reminding myself that he's provided some great football and professionalism and dignity through difficult times. My thoughts right now are "Cheerio to Fuck the pair of ya" Aberdeen evening express:-

Agreeing with you alot today Melvin. Those three would be my top picks too with McCart and Nijholt being a bit ahead of Macca - but overall its an edgy situation. i'd hate it NOT to work for any of those guys. On a more longer term look at assistant - I'd sound Craigan out! - but maybe somebody more experienced to begin with PS - just had a thought - what if we went for Macca and the Ginger nut from the Sellick? We'd be the first team to have Macca and Lennon as a management team I'll get me coat!
-
Yep! Aye right! - either Miller or McGhee will need to get the wallet oot - or we'll have a Steve Bruce / Crystal palace situation on our hands. As Melvin says - Feel free... C'mon The 'Well
-
I'd agree. unfortunately I think it's over for us and McGhee. We need to move on with a bit of stability without this constant looking over our shoulder. It would have been much better if MM had come out post Romanovgate and said right I'm gonna commit to and give it my all for another two seasons at Fir park then I'm gonna try my luck elsewhere. then we'd all know that he'd deflect any interest until the end of next season - whereby we could have said our farewells and gave him a big send-off There's enough direct quotes in the media to indicate that this continual speculation is partly furthered by his own quest for a bigger fish to fry. All well and good. However we've a job to do here. get your arse back behind the desk or get on the bus to Porkheid or Sheepville - your shout! Its Toodle Pip I'm afraid Muttley. Thanks for all your efforts mate and some great football. NEXT!

I saw this mock up of our new manager on one of the other sites. I'm pretty sure the one we'll get will not be a million miles away from this.
-
If I were McLean I'd be speaking to the likes of St Johnstone about a move as well. The guy needs to put food on the table like the rest of us. he can't sit about to wait and see the outcome of McGhees run on SPL's Got Talent!
-
Allegedly (Gaag's on the bru and canny afford a lawsuit)
-
Let's hope he's no' diggin oot his tracksuit

I understand the clubs and your position Flow. However I hope, in reality, we're not as wet behind the ears as that behind the scenes and you simply just can't disclose what we're up to. I hope we're scurrying about sounding out all potentials in the same way that West Brom and ourselves have been side swiped over the past few days - via the "third party hypothetical job offer phone converstaion". I hope we hang onto Mcghee - however if we dont and we play hardball we could potentially get Aberdeen pay for a big chunk the new pitch and if we trust John Boyle to do the business again - have a manager in place that wants to play some decent football and lead us into Europe. C'mon The Well!!!

Record has the McCall story too.
