  1. Also If he didn't go - we wouldn't have the money!! He actually NEEDS to go for that kind of money (think that's where McGhee might be coming from). MFC need the dosh for running costs and ongoing survival never mind transfers. Although a transfer chest is critical and a big slice of that fee would be great. Losing Porter with part of £400K to replace him Vs losing him for nowt in the summer. There really is only one sane answer that.
  2. Just watching Press Box on Setanta there. Billy Reid on it talking about how he had to let Yantarno return to Hibs as rules dictate he can only have one over 21 player on loan at one time and they already have an over 21 player. Never heard of that before Kinda rules out McGhee's multiple loan moves. Steven Smith loan deal to St Mirren is off too.
  3. I'd take the dosh. I like Lasley - but we'd cope without him for that cash. My God though, there would be several guys on here absolutely distraught that their fancy man had left them. The Sweetiewife's Favourite!
  4. I don't think many are arguing against the fact that he was good. Of course he was good. He was a wee greetin' faced shite on and off the park and left with nowhere near the level of goodwill that he should have given his contribution on the filed of play. If he conducted his business in a more respectful (to MFC) and dignified manner - then we'd all be happy to see him further his career. Is he eligible for the replay at the emirates (if the move goes through)?
  5. Sutton will do OK and he'll be the guy that'll slot in on Saturday. On Monday Porter would probably have been rested. I'm sure big John will step up to the plate should Porter go. Would be good to see him getting some support if he's asked to do a job. A wee bit of negative (Fitzy esque) vibe coming through for Sutts lately.
  6. No! McDonald went in a huff / spat the dummy when we wouldn't let him go for a derisory offer - the wee fat arsed shite The big man has conducted his business quietly and proffessionally and hasn't turned on the tears for a move like McDonald did. Remember????
  7. We're a vocal suport - but not in a good way
  8. Two words on not tying up a deal while the player is playing a blinder. . . Willo Flood. If Kruncher keeps this up the OF will come sniffing. We also need to play it down a bit in the press about how much we want him to sign. We're good at alerting other clubs.
  9. How Many Threads are Allowed? I think the reported SFA response in the Postponement thread covers it
  10. Thing is. . . . If a rocket scientist had pencilled in Wed 14th Jan as a provisional date just in case it was unplayable on the 10th.
  11. Looks like they're working hard to get the game on!
  12. I don't think the 11 players given a starting jersey for Locos will be heading out on the park to lose. They will be gearing up to have this tie played at Harlaw Pk and to cause a huge upset. If that wasn't their aim then they might as well not have bothered entering the competition. They've been given a home tie and that is something that they'll hang onto as long as they can. The SFA could be doing more - but then again - they probably won't as that would be setting a precedent for them to provide pitch protection everywhere and anywhere. There's no doubt the 'well fans are suffering here - and really badly at that. However that's the cup for ya. Special AKA et al posted way back that they didn't see this game going ahead in January and they've been proven right. We probably needed to take more heed of that at the time.
  13. Different competition. The SPL elite have different rules and requirements to the minnows who play in the Cup (which has recently been broadened further to include junior teams)
  14. What's wrong with the player's pulling on a pair of Adidas Sambas and playing the game on the frozen pitch like they used to do in the 70's
  15. Despair mate, Despair! if we're picking up on how we post - I'd say that if we look at yours - You initially weigh in with something really controversial - then take a couple of steps back when one or two people challenge your point of view. I wish guys like you would spend as much energy supporting the team as you do knocking it! BBC Sportsound had O'Brien as their man-of the-match. Like an earlier poster said, it's amazing how people see the same game differently. Maybe 'preconceptions' are coming into it on some of our parts. I'm prepared to get behind anyone who pulls on the jersey and gives 100% no matter where they come from or where their international allegiences lie. Tommy Coyne, Owen Coyle, Brian McLean and even Jim O'Brien. I've followed this team long enough and am glad to see that under Butcher and McGhee particularly we've put together a team that punches above it's weight and gives 100%. As far as I see it one moaning get in the stands or on here = one more supporter for the opposition Oh and by the way - I remember the crosses you're on about - and if you're a winger are you not meant to throw crosses into the danger area??? maybe if there was no one in the 'danger area' - that was maybe partly the fault of the strikers - who should maybe have been 'in the danger area'?? Just saying, like
  16. Phsychologists would have a field day on here as well as in the ground. I've seen the 'bullied syndrome' referred to by posters both on here and the previous version of the forum. As well as probably being bullied earlier in life - they're probably wife or kid beaters at present. The most common topic for someone to post on here is to moan about a player. The sniping from the terracing is beginning to really get me down. In fact if I dont renew my season ticket next season it will be more to do with being sick to the back teeth of sitting amongst the bile than anything the board / management of MFC can conjure up. I've got a mate who pays regularly at the gate - recently told me he won't be back to where I sit in the East as him and his boy don't want to sit amongst the crap that goes on.
  17. Aye particularly the one that the goalie punched to keep out the fucking net. It was a shite free kick.
  18. O'Brien's distribution and crossing is improving game by game - I actually thought he delivered a few good crosses yesterday. If anybody struggled a bit yesterday in terms of distribution it was Craggo
  19. He's 21 He'll be more physical in time He'll be more consistent in time. Some of the current darlings of the board have had spells (even seasons) when their form has dipped. I find it amazing how we all sit in the stands and from 100 yards away can scream at a player for missing a header, or failing to intercept a pass, or get back and make a tackle. Considering the pace of the game, it's physical nature, the surface, the distance we're away from play - and how hard opposition players are fighting to retain possession or get to the same ball. If only all our games we're played on a PlayStation eh?
  20. I dunno which poster you're directing the question at. However your post is spot on - and I think most folk agree with you.
  21. I dont understand that one WF1984 He could still have been a Celtic player - it was his shout to try and find more regular first team football after being loaned out - but Strachan attempted to keep him at Porkheid. Are you saying we don't have 'real' deals at 'well? Are you saying we only attract a certain standard and thats what we need to accept? Not having ago, just don't understand the post mate, sorry
  22. The way its been reported it looks like its coming to the club like SWF has indicated. Even if it went to JB - i wouldn't have a flakey - (£100K - expenses) Vs £8M = diddly squat. Main thing is Spencer was made to pay the dosh back.
  23. Good post HMS. I have no idea why this has all flared up so much recently - like you say it was never a problem in the past for folk who turned up to see the 'well. Either for players in our team or players anywhere else. Those type of issues should never come into it for a Motherwell support. One of the biggest criticisms / wind ups we get is that we're '*banned word* without the bus fare'. It's becoming harder to deflect that one these days.
