Love the formation we went with in 2002 when we played them in League Cup according to Sky. http://www.skysports.com/football/east-fife-vs-motherwell/28601 Worst part is Dubourdeau wasn't even in goals, was Stevie Woods!!

Would say that description is spot on! Always seems to be complaining!

With the first round of fixtures out the way, gives us an idea of what to expect. Think Dundee and Hearts will be the biggest challengers to Aberdeen finishing second. Actually surprised at Killie vs Dundee result as I thought Killie wouldn't be dragged into another relegation battle given their signings (lazy yes, but proven experience) and on the strength of the weekend they have to be one of the favourites for the drop. Think Hamilton and Partick will struggle as well. As for us, think if we get top 6 it will be a good season. Good result against Inverness, but actually expect them to fall away quite a bit from last year given the players they have lost. Ross County actually put up a very good showing against Celtic, and Willie Collum really was the difference between the two sides. Wether that was a one off "upping their game" against the champions, or a sign of things to come, I'm not sure. Although, I personally think McIntyre is one of the best managers in the league. They will be battling it out for last few top 6 spot with us, Untied and St.Johnstone. Jury is still out on Dundee Utd and St. Johnston on what their season has in store given they were playing probably the two teams that will be 2nd & 3rd. Celtic will win the league with relative ease. Going to go out on a limb and say we will be nowhere near a relegation battle this year, although will hold judgment on wether we can make top 6 or Euro push. 1st Celtic 2nd Aberdeen 3rd Hearts 4th Dundee 5th to 8th (order TBC) Motherwell, Dundee United, St. Johnstone, Ross County 9th Inverness 10th Partick 11th Kilmarnock 12th Hamilton

In our last couple of games, I got the impression MacDonald was playing more of a classic No.10 role (or "trequista" for the FM fans) and I feel this is his best position. Sitting behind a striker, more freedom to roam about and create space while being required to drop deeper into midfield and help out and kick off attacks. He has the ability to make something happen and to bring others into play. I have no doubts in my mind that young Erwin owes much of his move to Leeds thanks to playing with MacDonald for the past few months and I have high hopes he can do the same with Moult and Fletcher. As others have mentioned, we really have an ageing midfield, and with two wingers we will be exposed at times. With MacDonald in this role, it would be 4-2-3-1 that allows flexibility to shift to a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 during play when/if required.

One question on the predictor league, is there a way to change your password? The random generated one you receive will setting up your account is impossible to remember.

Joined up there and donation made. Good idea, raise money to keep your podcast growing and add a little bit of competition for folk on the boards.

I'm going to be in Inverness this weekend so going to try and get along. Anyone know ticket info? Mainly if its pay at the gate and cost. Cheers

Just back from holiday and missed the Jim Patterson one, but can't seem to get it on your website or soundcloud. Any pointers?

I'm sure as part of the development fee you get a small % (think it's at absolute max 2%) of transfer fee for every move the player makes in the future.

Great news to wake up to! Superb bit of business for the club. Much better than waking up to hear we have signed Samson!

While I agree that he is rapidly declining from his glory days, If the budget is there to offer him a basic contract with pay as you play bonuses I think there would be merit in having him in the squad. More for his the off the field experience with the younger guys - even as far as being a player coach - and used as a sub when required. Talent never disappears, just the legs that go. If the contract we offered him means we can't sign another target, then we don't - simple. If we get into the season, he is still without a club, we have the budget, then no harm in offering him a deal like the one I suggested.

Lazy signings, yes. But all experienced players. Killie will be much improved from last year for me. Agree on Partick though. Ross County maybe less so as really rate McIntyre. Think Inverness will struggle this year. Euro hangover and lost a lot of decent players.

Another thing that has to be considered is the other clubs transfer activity. So far I think Kilmarnock, Aberdeen, Dundee and Hearts have recruited very well and that will have a direct bearing on our league performance. All other teams have added new players, some of known abilities, others from the complete unknown like us. Think all four of the teams mentioned will be pushing for and fancying a top 6 finish. St. Johnstone, Inverness and Dundee United will be hoping to retain their top 6 spot, so it will be very, very tough. Being well clear of relegation is the top priority. I think on the strength of the last few months we should be equipped to do that. Anything else is a bonus. As a side note, finishing above Hamilton will be nice and I think they favorites for the drop this year.

Sorry...but both of them are horrible. What the fuck is the collar all about? All for a retro strip, for a sash, etc...actually gutted this is what we have after all the teasing!

Think there has been some screw up cause it looks like macron have posted it on their site http://www.macron.com/shop/eu/en/football/official-merchandising/motherwell.html.

Went for top 6, but will bite your hand off for a cup run to semis/final and a 10th place finish. Really not sure what to expect this season. With so many new faces could take time to gel or they could be real finds and we upset all the odds and push into top 2/3. Quite excited about the next 12months for our wee club.

Really enjoyed that one. He comes across as a great pro and an all round decent guy. Never realised he's been injured as long as that, wish him a speedy recovery. Refreshingly open about his career and very positive about us which is always great to hear.

Good signing. Reminds me so much of Hutchison and think with a proper pre-season here built on the back of last years loan spell he has the potentials of a very decent centre half.
-
Excellent news about Marvin. Hopefully he kicks on from very promising start and we can look to sell him on for £1m in the next few years.
-
Spot on.
-
Just as a side note, you think he will wear no.10? He was last to wear it and by all accounts it was retired but for him being related to Phil EDIT: See he got No.19
-
Totally agree. Would not have been my first choice even last summer when he was in training. Hope time proves me wrong. Continuing our recent tradition of bringing back former players.
-
Good bit of business and happy he is staying. As others have mentioned, a bit hot and cold. He's either a complete passenger or simply unplayable. Lets hope a good pre-season will see him continue the form he showed the last few months of the season.

Another great listen. Makes the time fly at work. Teale was a favourite of mine during his time here and was great to hear his take on things and a few good stories from the past. Not taking anything away from him or questioning his honesty, but can image him being a nightmare to manage. "Hated all his managers bar a few" maybe says more about him than the managers. But, either way, he was very upfront and I like that.

Think it will be more a case of Sutton giving up any monies due to him than St. Johnstone paying a fee.
