Thought he said the future of the club if relegated wouldn't be in doubt if fans still turned up, bought into society, etc. I doubt the club would cut season ticket, admission prices too much, if at all. Plus the lack of big games, product on the field, etc almost guarantees that our average attendance will drop below 3000. Thats not fans buying into the club as Les said on record.

We have Lasley, Hammell and Pearson tied down on longer contracts, so they will all be here and we would need to sign a few players to replace the mass exodus. As for the rest, hope the door doesn't hit them on the way out.

Avoiding The Play Off's Is Still In Our Own Hands!

Guaranteed he will have fixed that little Achilles heel if we come to play them in a two legged game. Saying that, think we would probably have as good a chance against them as we would Hibs or QotS -
As mentioned in another thread, if we are to be relegated, any regular member of the squad that was here when we finished 2nd last year and went on to put us in our current situation should be shown the door as swiftly as possible to make way for the younger players.

The way I see it is we are right up shits creek, but we still have the paddle. If we end up in 11th, then its where we deserve to be given the form of this year - and for me, given its the core of the team that finished second last year, its an utter disgrace! We would still have the chance to redeem this atrocious season with the play-off. If we end up being a Championship side next year I will be absolutely gutted. I've never seen our wee team relegated, and I don't ever want to. However, if it comes to pass, the team will prevail - maybe even be stronger for it - thanks to the work being done off the field. Would expect the majority of the team that has let us down so badly this year to be shown the door and let the young guys get their chance.
-
I'm definitely a fan of them. Don't know how fair it is as such, but evening that out is something that could happen over time. Last year there was something extra to the end of season that provided a great deal of drama, and this year will be no different. Really hope we are not involved though!

When it comes to getting the interview with our stadium announcer, you need to ask him if he is as into his porn as the last chap!

Definitely not impossible... Given current form, would be very surprised to see St. Mirren pick up any more points so can see Hamilton beating them. Still at least a game spare for all teams, so could still finish 11th. Ross County game aside, which is hard to call given there current form, we have a very good chance of taking maximum points from the rest of the games given the way we are playing. And would really fancy us with Ross County at home (which we are due)

Think we will have a mass exodus in the summer. Fully expected at very least 10 of the current squad to be missing next year. The four loan guys plus McHugh, Cummins, Reid, Ramsden, Lawson and Vigurs will all be away next year. More than likely MacDonald, Ainsworth and Sutton will be away plus a few of the other fringe players may be pushed out the door - Kerr, Carswell, etc. Depends a lot on what division we will be playing in that will determine the squad size and pedigree, but expect it to be a lot different from current squad. Very surprised at 2yr deal for Pearson, but think its a superb piece of business.

Gutted Jack never made a cameo!

It's funny how a wee run of form can change folks opinions (drastically) in some cases. Baraclough is part of the bigger picture of positivity at the club just now. The appointment of Robinson and the changes to training, diet, scouting, etc are all positive. For so long Barra talked the talked, and finally, we are starting to see his plans come to fruition. Judgement is very much still out on him as a manager for me, but with our current behind the scene set-up, squad and form on the up it reflects well on him. Now all about staying in the top flight to determine his ability - as mentioned, relegated will mean bad appointment, stay up good appointment.

Would love to go to this, been a while since I've been to Firhill and believe we are really playing entertaining football of late, but my dickhead of a mate is getting married that day! It is a must win. but on our current form, I think we have to be considered favourites. Play like we did in our last three games and think it will be a comfortable 3-0. A win for us drags Partick closer into the play-off battle and think there heads may drop as the gap between us is swallowed up.

Can only echo whats been said before, another outstanding dominating performance. Yes, St.Mirren were pish, but on this form I think we are a good test for anyone in this league. Great pace, drive and creativity, with a back four now looking cemented (although still keen for Hammell or ZFA to get back for Straker). Could have easily been 7 or 8. It's completely contrast to a few months back, which is infuriating. If we end up going down, it won't be the fault of the current regime or team. If the league started tomorrow, I think we would be easily top 6. Ross County is the massive test, given there form. But for me, the way we are playing, there is no reason why we can't finish the season undefeated and secure our top flight status.

Easily could have went for Lasley, he bossed the midfield. Or could have been Laing, looked solid at the back. Every time Ainsworth got the ball I got excited, so an obvious choice? Pearo oozes class in the middle - another stellar performance worthy of MotM. Big Lee scored two great goals and put in some shift. Really excited for his future. McManus back to looking absolutely solid, providing great experience. Law is arguably most improved player I've seen in a long time. Looks very composed at full back. Straker wasn't utter pish - so good for him. The big handsome bastard came on and scored a double. Quality. MacDonald worked his arse of running the channels and always offered something. George Long never put a foot wrong and looked completely composed with all the was thrown at him. But for me, Marvin Johnson gets my vote. For the last few weeks he's been arguably the most consistent top performer, only missing out on MotM to someone having a stormer. What a left foot he has - been desperate for a left sided player of his ability for years. Tidy on the ball, pace to burn, direct and a real creative force. A couple of assists and unlucky not tho be on the scoresheet. Top effort. For me, one of the hardest MotM votes ever! Whole team were solid. What a change from a few months ago.

Two sheer quality finishes! On big Lee!! Outstanding!

Just had a listen, and once again, top effort guys. Was very different from any previous podcasts and that helps keep it fresh. Nice idea bringing in a fan of the opposition and wouldn't be against this format in future. Even more keen to hump them tonight after listening as I did find him absolutely miles out in a lot of what he was saying! Actually excited for the Twaddle special! That should be "insightful" to say the least.

Apologies...re-read and believe he did mean McGlinchey.
-
His contract expired before the 1994 World Cup but somehow he managed to be SPL top goalscorer with us the 94/95 season and be a regular in the squad until 1998?? EDIT: unless of course you mean McGlinchey!
-
Weighing it all up , Coyne is probably the best striker I've seen at the club in my lifetime. Him and Coyle made for some partnership. Everyone talks about achievement of Hidgon being Top Goalscorer in SPL, but Coyne done it 94-95 season up against much better players than what Higdon was. I'm sure he's the only player I can think of to represent Motherwell at a World Cup, USA 1994. As for the game, this on paper is our hardest game from our remaining fixtures and would be happy with a point. If we perfrom like we did 2nd half against Accies, all 3 points is definitely achievable.

Finally got the chance to listen to latest podcast and another very enjoyable episode. Great insight from big Buff's time at the club.
-
Players contracts all end on June 30th as per instruction of SFA rules - so no legal can of worms at all.
-
Wonder if some partnership can't be struck with the club in the whole "community club" sense. As much as I'm all for it being a Motherwell run bar, don't want it to detract from the club.
-
Thistle and County at home are the priorities. If we are guaranteed them, I'd take another trip to Kilmarnock. And given St.Mirren's home form, you want to play them away!
-
Assuming Hamilton finish bottom 6, that will leave us with 8 games against the teams round about us - so it's completely in our own hands. We have to better the teams above us results. From the last 8 games, I think we can achieve at least 15pts, and that would take us over the 40pts mark and surely ensure our survival. I also firmly believe that all 8 of our remaining games are winnable.
