That's my point! And that's why I selected him from our Stable of genreally balls refs! The guy tonight was murder!! Worse than Brines!
-
I agree with you that 2-1 is maybe a hidden advantage, but I thought they were rather solid at the back. No pace though so if we can run at them we can hopefully get what we need!
-
Ok things have calmed down a bit so I’m gonna put my 2 cence in.... ...and to be honest it was going to be somewhat more brutal had THAT goal not happened with the last kick of the ball! Anyway...for me we were without doubt the better team tonight. The defence was solid apart from the 2 obvious fluffs, the midfield dominated, the entire game and with the exception of the last 10mins or so we were always the team on top for me! The forwards showed good energy and never gave up, however there back line coped well and we never really managed to open them up. Randolph - Had virtually nothing to do and the little he did he coped with very well. Put no blame at him for first Odense goal as he was in a perfect position for any shot coming in. Hammel - Solid display from Hammel, good positioning and moved the ball efficiently. Would have like to see him threaten at their end a bit more though. Craigan - Was having a superb game up until their 2nd goal when he was posted missing. Was enraged that he never got a foot in their when it seemed like the easiest thing to do and to make things worse he seemed to give up! I expect better from our Captain. Reynolds - First class. Hardly put a foot wrong all night and he is my man of the match without question. Saunders - Should have done better at the first goal, but other than that he done very well making a few great tackles. Humphrey - Full of running, full of ambitions, full of energy....but someone please teach him to cross. If he could even deliver one good ball of every three we will reap huge rewards due the great positions he gets himself into. Hateley - That free-kick alone is enough! Oustanding goal! However, have to be honest, thats the poorest I've seen him look for a while. Gave the ball away too often, spet to long on the ball, tried stupid things rather than keeping it simple...then he pops up with a moment of genius that made me jump about like a dafty! Lasley - Thought he had a brilliant game as well. Great tackling and kept it simple. When he went off we started to loose our grip in the middle a bit. Jennings - He must be gutted...was NEVER a booking ! He was the one fouled! He had a great shift breaking up play and I really think we will miss him next week! Sutton - Put in a tireless shift that we've come to expect from him. Won loads of headers against two giant centre halfs and brought others into play well. Murphy - Really should have scored tonight and for me he was a little off the pace tonight. Good link up play with Sutton in the first half but looked tired in the 2nd half for me. When Sutton forced the spill off Carroll he should have punced on it. Forbes - I like Forbes, think he has bags of talent, but tonight he was a bomb scare! His touch was shocking, his passing wild and he looked completely out his depth. Him comming on for Lasley coincided with OB getting a better grip of the midfield. Need much more if he is picked for Jennings next week. Blackman - Looks a decent aquisition! Good first touch and decent pace. Managed to win us the freekick and added a bit extra up front that Murphy didn't suply tonight. McHugh - As happens all too often with him, never really had much time to make an impact. Few decent touches. As for OB, I was suprised at how average they were! The are big and strong at the back and lack pace in the team with only Utaka looking quick. They are a route one team and we coped with that quite easily tonight. They are also a bunch of diving bar stewards, going down at any opportunity - especially Caca! They have ability as they showed in flashes but they are no better than than us on our day. Finally, the referee! The fucking pig shagging blind fucking geriatric cumstain of a man that he is was nothing short of a disgrace for me tonight. Never a red card, two stone wall penalties, maybe three, pulling us up for every 50-50, stupid pointless bookings (Saunders) for very soft fouls, refusal to let the game flow, not spoting diving and play-acting and general lack of any coherance makes me thankful for Ian Brines! Even Hateley's free kick came from a ridiculous soft foul, one of the very few we got tonight. His bias toward OB seems aparant to us 'Well fans, but I think he was shocking all round! Next week, as has been said, is one of the biggest games I've ever know as a 'Well fan! We have an incredible chance judging on tonight and I hope we can do it. It won't be easy as I think OB are very solid at the back. We only had 2 or 3 chances tonight, and only Murphy's was clear cut. We need to bring our A game and attack them from the off. I believe they will sit in and play on the break utilising Utaka's pace. We need to score early and keep the ball the way we did at times tonight! I genuinely believe we can do it and I would urge ever single 'Well fan to get to Fir Park and put the shitters up them with the atmosphere! We took 17,000 to the CIS Cup final a few years back, we only need 12500 to fill The 'Ark and hopefully witness Motherwell folklore being written! Mon the 'Well!!

YYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The LEAST we deserved!! Roll on next week!! What a peach by Hateley!!!!

By the letter of the law it's DEFINATELY a penalty. If your arm is raised or away from your body and you get a case of "ball to hand" it is a penalty. The guys arm was at his head - unatural position. Don't imagine he ment it, but its still a penalty!
-
Don't understand why so many folk on here are keen to change it. We may be 1 down, but we are doing well and I wouldn't change a thing for the first 15mins of the 2nd half then look at Forbes or Blackman

+1 Well said!
-
Totally disagree with you! They can't keep the ball and we are moving it very well. I reckon we had easy 60% of possesion that half. We are having a few probs breaking through their back line but are more than "competing" in midfield!!! EDIT: Just said 2-1 to highlight that if we are gonna lose I want us to score, and only lose by one, so we can pump this mob at The 'Ark!
-
By the letter of the law it's definately a penalty. First half has been excellent but over-shadowed by a howler of a goal to concede. I'd take 2-1 to OB right now.
-
Typically...we've been the better team. Poor defending there! They were just talking about how we good we were doing on sportsound as well! Was never a freekick BTW!

Agree with what's been said about Bill Leckie. Really enjoy reading his colums, especially his views on the national team and his Tuesday "non-football" column. His World Cup diary also made for great reading. He is professional, honest and passionate and puts the rest of the Scottish football media to shame. Actually met him a few years back at a sports dinner and he was a very dcent bloke as well. Thought his report on yesterdays game was very well written.

Congrats Sydney!

Esteban's gonna get you, Esteban's gonna get you, Esteban's gonna get you Our Esteban's gonna score all right! Oh eh, oh eh, oh eh, oh (to the tune of Rythmn is Gonna Get You by Gloria Estefan!) or it could just be Esteban Casagolda x 3 ESTEBAN CASAGOLDA

Wether he signs or not, I put him in the Motherwell squad in FM while doing the transfer updates. I gave him max stats, made him 6ft 11 and 26 stone. He is double footed and has all the preferred moves. He has the greatest reputation in the World. No one is sure where he was born. His birthday is Christmas Day and he is 44 years old and qualifies for 27 countreis including Fiji, Mali, Cambodia, Afganastan, San Marino and Barbados. His favoured personel include Rafael Scheidt, Du Wei, John Barnes, Quim, Massimo Taibi, Peter Van Vossen, Carlton Palmer, Berti Vogts, Bob Malcolm, James McFadden and JayJay Okocha. The players he dislkies include Gary Caldwell, Darren Jackson, Derek Townsley, Aiden McGeady, James McCarthey and Robbie Fowler. Furthermore, everyone in the Motherwell team loves him, including all the staff. His favourite clubs include Horsham FC, Shotts Bon Accord, Maribo, Braga and above all else Motherwell Football Club. He dislikes all other Scottish Clubs, especially Celtic and Rangers. He is a fully qualified coach with the best abilities in the world and although he is a player coach at 'Well, he is equally adapt as Physio, Scout, Asst. Manager or Chairman. He is a wage on £200 per week and has penned a 7year contract. He is fluent in every language in the World. He can play anywhere on the park, even in goals. He is a legend of Motherwell Football Club. He has a minimum realease clause of £270m. He has played at every club that has won the Champions League/European Club in it's history. Has Ice Rink returned???

Don't be silly... Rangers haven't got £5million!!

Notice in todays Sun that the game's report in the Goals pullout is on a signle page - the very back one. Every other game got a two page spread - including one Division 1 game. Poor show. Probably because we beat "media darling" Mark McGhee?!
-
IF Slane does move to Celtic - which is his perogitive - then I beleive it is without doubt the wrong move for him, which will have repercussions on Motherwell and Scotland in my eyes. McCart is only doing his job, I agree. But as someone who could potentially be sounded out about our manager's position in time, he is doing himself no favours with the club. And it now appears he has went back on his word of not approaching any of 'Well's youngsters. This is probably a gentlemans agreement and not in writing, but still it is extremley shady of McCart to go against this "promise" and my estimations of him have gone down. The fact that we will make peanuts from the deal is the real slap in the face. I wouldn't mind him going to Celtic if we received decent compensation (300k +) but if Slane is indeed on a YTS we will be lucky to make £50k at a push! Whoever is pulling the strings, I've heard that since Slane's impressive start in our Euro campaign he has developed an arrogance that is perhaps only natural in a young player with his undoubted ability - but this is usually controlled by the parents. But if the stories regarding his father are true, then I really worry for the boy. I also wonder what influence Gannon had on him, was it positive? Or is his mindset diffrent now Gannon is away? Sadly I believe this will all come to pass, and as has already been mentioned, it just echoes the absolute polution the Old Firm create in the Scottish game. Snapping up these hot prospect to rot in the reserves is detremental to Scottish football as a whole, and if Slane does move it will be another in a long line of Scottish talent wasted by joining the Old Firm. And on top of all this, I'm dissappointed in the club. I also see a failing on their part to secure our investment better.

Eh??!! Are you having one mate??! I was in Madeira back for new year and it was at least 20degrees every day I was there! Whereas here you're lucky to get a decent 8 or 9!
-
There's a wee snippet (200 words or so) attached to the article where he talks about two of his happiest memories that happened while he was at Motherwell - his daughter being born at Bellshill Maternity and the 2-0 to save us from relegation at Ibrox. As he says in it "The second goal was a penalty with 9mins left - and I've never heard 50,000 people sound so quiet!" Van Der Gaag = Motherwell Legend!!
-
Saw that this morning. Great read and nice to hear big Gaag talk about 'Well with fond memories - especially THAT 2-0 win at Greyskull!
-
That's a bit presumptuous, you don't even know me!! Nah, I actually agree milo, is a big game and I hope we can win it. Not only to ram it down McGhee's throat, but to keep the chase on for third spot and yet another European adventure. I think it will be a tense game, with a good atmosphere, and I predict a narrow 1-0 for the mighty 'Well!
-
Serves you right for asking a Rangers fan, family or not! They're mostly fucking halfwits!!
