Because we should be ambitious, we should be looking to get the lapsed fans back, not locking them out because we're full. We also from time-to-time play in big matches that attract more than 7,000. It would have to be a 10,000-seater as a minimum for me....although I hope it never comes to pass

As stated above by myself...the thought of playing in a St Mirren-esque stadium makes me want to greet, but the thought of that stadium being at Ravenscraig makes it ten times worse.
-
The thought of watching my fitba at a stadium similar to New St Mirren Park (or whatever name it goes by) every 2nd week, makes me want to greet

Whilst not directly from the horses mouth, I have it on (what I'd consider to be) good authority that Reynolds has no inclination to play for Motherwell again.
-
Yip I get all that, but that has nothing to do with Bobby Donnellys current eligibility for the Scottish Amateur team
-
Mark Reynolds is a no-go from what I've heard...'I would rather stick a knitting needle in my japseye than sign for Motherwell', is the basic gist of it as I gather
-
Not sure what the 'grey area' is to be honest...yes, some Amateur teams are better than some Junior teams but you can't play for the Amateur select team if you are signed to a junior Club. The amateur select team comes purely from players who are playing for Amateur football teams
-
Agree with this, Reynolds doesnt have the attributes I want to see from a full-back. If he comes back it would surely be as a replacement for McManus but it doesnt really add up for me, when you consider that both players are under contract for a further 18months.
-
Its all hypothetical at this stage...the Clubs involved, the fee involved, will we be relegated with him, will we be relegated without him, will he get injured between now and the Summer, will he throw his dummy out the pram if we don't let him move, will we get a similar bid in the Summer??????? For me, and I'd probably liken it to cashing out early at the bookies...I'm more inclined to take the money and use it again.
-
We can start taking a tougher approach when we are on a sound financial footing...just my opinion though
-
^^Exactly this...if our new model is going to have any hope of working, we need to cash in where we can and be able to introduce our reserve players or new signings and have faith in them
-
Would he really? I'm not so sure, he spent a fair amount of time plying his trade down south, scoring goals and then joins us for (a quoted) £50k?
-
I see we're all getting carried away about what Moults true worth in the transfer market is, much like we did with Marvin Johnson. I seem to remember Johnson wasn't to leave unless he eclipsed O'Donnells £1.75m transfer fee from back in the day. He ended up going for roughly what I'd have thought...and again, if we get a serious offer for Moult in the region of £500k-750k (with add-ons), I believe we should and will take it. Like it or not, Scottish Fitba' is seen as a backwater (and it is), we're filling our team up with guys from Grimsby, Wrexham, Chester et al, for either fuck all, or next to fuck all and when they come good we're expecting English clubs just to hand over a cheque for a £1million+, just because they have it to splash about? I've read folk saying, 'we'll never replace his quality offering the money we do', or 'we'll get relegated without him'...fucking hell, a) had anyone ever seen this boy play before we plucked him from obscurity? b) we've lost far better players than Louis and still survived. Who's to say, that we don't have our next target already lined up, ok, its not an ideal time to be trying to get players in, but it is the optimum time to be selling a guy who has 18months left on his contract. Who's to say, that Bowman or Mackin can't come in and do enough to help us stave off relegation? No one is irreplaceable and i didn't spot Louis's talents in his 1st few matches for us. The facts of the matter are, we've told all and sundry what our reason for being is... we'll bring young players through our own system and we'll take a punt on guys lower down the English leagues, giving both a platform to perform at our level and allow them to move on when a reasonable offer comes in which will allow them to make a better salary elsewhere. And, I'd imagine Moult will be able to make a helluva lot more money almost anywhere in the top3 leagues in England than he does up here. We owe people money, and our Club should be looking to pay that money back as quickly as is physically possible to then allow us to kick on without that burden hanging over us. Playing hardball in our situation is walking on dodgy ground as far as I'm concerned...we've lost players in the past for scraps, or for fuck all because we either never got any offers (ie Randolph), or because we failed to capitalise at the optimum time (Jamie Murphy and Mark Reynolds spring to mind). Moult has turned out to be a great signing, and selling him for 10times what we bought him for in the space of 18months is a great piece of business and the Club and the scouting network (and Ian Baraclough) should be applauded for that.

Absolutely no way is Louis Moult going direct from us to the English Premier League, absolutely no chance. If say, a Blackburn Rovers or someone a wee bit higher up like a Sheffield Wednesday needed someone to take a punt on that would score them some goals then, Moults name being mentioned wouldnt be so far fetched. As for, the figure quoted, I've got to say, that in our current circumstances when we owe people a relatively substantial amount of cash (and I know we are up with our payments and that there have been quotes saying we don't need to sell at this time) £500k goes a long way to putting us even closer to an even keel...with the long-term in mind, clearing that debt as quickly as possible and not having it hangover us would be my priority. Its all very well saying, we should hold out for more, but what if another offer never comes, or further down the line his stock isn't quite as high, he runs down his contract and either leaves us for buttons or fuck all... a la Jamie Murphy, Mark Reynolds and Darren Randolph?

McHugh...going to be a fantastic player for us in my opinion

As for Lucas...definitely red card, called it at the time and wasn't surprised the ref flashed it. I feel sorry for the lad though, went through a couple of decent challenges then over stretched on that one -
Definitely the right thing for the lad...hopefully he can get some game time down there

Right in front of the 'well fans.... A turgid, horrible match for the vast majority of the 90 minutes...until Louis managed to take the last of his hatful of chances, absolutely fantastic celebrations. McGhee took some pelters yesterday but he was completely vindicated in the fact we managed to get that last minute equaliser...it was a strange starting line up, but losing Lucas made it incredibly difficult to change it. He was never going to take Skippy or Moult off, and didn't want to take a defender out too early, and had no real option for the central midfield...so what did the halfwits want him to do? We were desperate for an outball, and Ainsworth was the only real option for that on the bench but bring him on too early and we lose a huge chunk of work rate and bravery (his drawers were full in that non incident discussed further up). I thought McHugh was absolutely outstanding, Tait put in a power of a shift and clearly wears his heart on his sleeve. We badly need width in the squad, and a competent, injury free left full back. Young McMillan isn't the answer there and is being hung out to dry. Final word, is for Hamilton Accies...they offer absolutely nothing to the league, a horrible place to watch football on a shite park. It has nothing to do with rivalry for me (they would need us to fold, to be better than us) they are a tinpot team playing in a town that really can't be fucked with them and the sooner they fuck off and are replaced with a team that will enhance the league the better. And that black fella playing for them sums them up entirely...quite possibly the worst player I've ever seen at SPL level -

That would've been me...he was definitely offered to Partick, who decided he wasn't what they were looking for -
Space would be the biggest issue I'd reckon. It would be nice to have something like this though, even a small exhibition type of thing that could be open on match days only...might enhance the 'matchday experience' for some and the price could be tied in with entry to the game.
