  1. Biggest question of the night for me after reading this thread....has Orinoco managed to dry out his knickers yet?
  2. You could make a case for almost all of the starting 11 (the keeper had a quiet night and Straker, was less shaky than usual but shaky none the less). The 4 lads up front, gave St mirren a torrid time, Josh Law looked like a solid, dependable right back, the 2 centre-halves were as commanding as you'd like to see and Pearo put in the type of performance again that he has put in over the past month or so. For me though, Lasley was the boss, he was all over the park and drove the team on...I've never 100% bought into the man-love for Keith but last night was just one of those nights that he never put a foot wrong.
  3. Yip, agree on Ramsdens 'hot-headedness', but if that can be reigned in (and Im sure Baraclough would have gone through him for the last red card), then from a footballing point of view he is better than Shaky Straky by a mile.
  4. I'd make a couple of changes and they are pretty much what most have said already.... Grant - has pretty much been surplus to requirements since Pearson came back from injury which is a shame for him, as I thought he looked neat and tidy playing in the middle...played out wide, either on the right or left, he has offered nothing in an attacking sense. I'd like to think we'll be doing most of the attacking tonight, so if Johnson is still unavailable, the gaffer could plump for one of three players to replace him. For me, it would be Dom Thomas, however Nathan Thomas could be an option, as could Lee Erwin, with Sutton going up top with Skippy. Straker - if Hammell is fit, I'd fling him in, if he isnt fit, I'd stick Ramsden in there. Straker is good for the comedy value and thats about it...I've got the fear every time the ball is within 30yards of him As for the goalkeeper situation... I was a huge critic of Twardzik (and in my opinion I'm still justified in that criticism), and was delighted when we signed Long, as he arrived with a bit of pedigree, but after watching him again at Killie on Saturday, its got to be said that he is every bit as bad as Wee Dan is. Saturdays display from him, was as bad an individual display as I've seen from a goalkeeper and the goal that we lost because of him was criminal. We can expect an up-and-at-them approach from St Mirren tonight, after Teale watched our goalkeeper fumble and flap at every cross into his box. The thing is, Wee Dan is no better, and this will really have to be addressed in the Summer regardless of the league we are in as the goals we have conceded this season because of goalkeeping fuck-ups or downright inability has been appalling. GK; TOSS A COIN LAW LAING MCMANUS HAMMELL/RAMSDEN AINSWORTH LASLEY PEARO D THOMAS SKIPPY ERWIN
  5. Delighted with this....for me, he has been more influential than Skippy over the past few games
  6. A few other 'well fans in the street Busta, and 1 or 2 others arrived after you moved up in the World (to Mossend)...but aye, you're right probably an unusually high well fan ration in our wee part of Bellshill in the 80s.
  7. Hearing that the Club is re-opening, possibly under a new name, but with a good 'well fan at the helm.
  8. Incidentally, anyone any idea who Jim Bowen was supporting that day? Celebrity 'well fan.....
  9. R.I.P. Coop. Not sure if I would even be a Motherwell fan if it wasnt for this guy, given the Celtic and Rangers influences in my family...I was 8 when he signed and took Motherwell to a new level, not just on the pitch, but off it too....Suddenly we were being noticed by the media, solely because of his influence. Can still vividly remember the phone call I got from my Papa to tell me that he had passed away.
  10. Pearson...again. Solid, dependable, very rarely loses the ball or mis-places a pass....Lasley has played in midfield beside Law, Reid, Ramsden, Vigurs, Lawson, Carswell and Leitch so far this season and only now does he look totally comfortable and that must be down to playing alongside Pearo. He's been a huge signing for us and I hope we can keep him beyond the Summer Laing, Mick, Johnson and Erwin were all really good as well
  11. Delighted with that result tonight.... Thought we truly deserved that, not just for our performance tonight but our performances over the past 4 or 5 matches....that type of scoreline will give the players a huge amount of confidence going into our next 3 games versus Killie, St Mirren and Partick. I know Ainsworth is getting the plaudits, but I actually thought he was anonymous until that wonder strike...for me Pearo was MOTM yet again...nothing flashy or showy from him, just simple football with loads of energy and drive. Erwin, was another one who really impressed me...still don't know where his goals will come from, but his link-up play and hold-up play is excellent and his energy levels give the team so much more than Fast John...but Big Sutton showed exactly what he can offer, when he came off the bench and found himself in exactly the right position. Absolutely buzzing after that, and putting that wee Junior Club in their box for a while is sweet
  12. I'm a huge detractor of Wee Dan The Midget Goalie, and was deligheted that we had signed a goalkeeper with a bit of height and apparent pedigree but Long isn't filling me with confidence either....just seen the goals from last night....what the fuck was he playing at?
  13. Of Course, the fact is that the Scottish Climate is generally shite all year round, we tend to get a few decent weeks somewhere between May and September each year though...therefore surely it makes sense to utilise these months and give it a bye in months that we know for an absolute fact that we're likely to be watching fitba in sub-freezing temperatures, or matches called off altogether?
  14. Would have taken a draw before a ball was kicked on Saturday, but coming away from the match all I could think of was 2 points dropped. Had a discussion with our resident Kilmarnock-supporting-rodent-shagger on Saturday night and he was of the belief that Kilmarnock were the better team and that 11v11 they were confident of a victory...now either this highlights that he does, indeed, know fuck all about fitba', or that two sets of football supporters can watch the same game but having totally polar views on the gameplay? Me? I thought Motherwell made a sluggish start, 1st 5mins or so was knoweher near as impressive as the start of last weeks match, but once we got in our rythmn, Kilmarnock couldnt live with us, particularly the link up play between Skippy, Pearo, Erwin and Marvin. I've not seen the stats but we must have had 3 or 4 times as many attempts on goal, corners and crosses in the 1st 45mins than Killie did...which leads me to the 2nd half and how frustrating it was watching us trying to break down a 10-man wall. Baraclough made the subs that I'd have made, but too late in my opinion. Johnson, was immense in the 1st half but either tired badly, or had one kicking too many of the hatchet men who were trying to put him out the game and he should have been replaced by Thomas much earlier. Ainsworth was also the correct sub to come on for Grant (who is utterly wasted playing wide), but Ainsworth is an utter enigma, talent in abundance but just does not have the stomach or desire to put it to use often enough. I'm also a huge critic of Fast John, but I'm not convinced by Erwin either, as i dont see where the goals are going to come from with him, he has had a wee run this season and played in most games, but he seems to lack the killer instinct to get into positions to score. The question is though whats more important, Erwins movement, work-rate and link-up play or do we lose all that and re-instate Fast John to hang about in the centre of the 18-yard box for 90minutes?
  15. Starvin Marvin by a mile, particularly in teh 1st half, had his full-back absolutely run ragged, culminating in the boy getting himself sent off and his crosses should have lead to a goal or two, also had a clear penalty not given by the Lanarkshire h*n in Black. Why he was switched to right-wing for a spell I dont know...I would also suggest that he should have been subbed slightly earlier as he had knackered himself out, and we've got to remember that he is now playing at a higher level in a much more demanding environment.
  16. I've never heard any sort of reasonable argument against Summer Football. Aye, ok, we don't know what the weather is going to do from 1 minute to the next, but there is a helluva bigger chance of having a nice day in June than in January...it's utterly bonkers that we play through the worst months of the year and avoid playing in the best ones. As for the golfers worried about clashing in the Summer with fitba? I'm sure you could do both if you really wanted.
  17. Striker was sitting not far from me...shat it to ask for his autograph, don't think I could have kept a straight face. I think even Baraclough must realise that the lad is way below the required standard for this league
  18. A few candidates today...Law, McManus, Lasley, Erwin probably all had their best games of the season, while Long, Laing, Johnson all had their best matches since joining. Skippy was excellent and such a breathe of fresh air after watching Fast John plough a loan furrow up front all season. For me though, Pearo was the difference, he gave such a good balance to the midfield, pressed and harried when not in possession and had that wee bit of quality and control on the ball. I actually thought he'd end up on the left but it was great to see him in the middle where he should be.
  19. The fans will be positive and respond, when there is something to be positive about. The difference on the park between today and last Saturday was huge, the drive and effort and will to win was excellent and the fans picked up on that from the 1st minute. The players have to get the fans onside, not the other way about.
  20. That's what I want to see from my team...a performance full of guts and effort. After 2mins you could tell we were up for it, and the team selection was spot on, we looked like a competent, solid football team. The difference for me was Pearson and McDonald...never was a huge fan of Pearo, but he has matured into a ver accomplished central midfielder and still has that burst of pace. McDonald out top, was everything you want from a centre forward...linking up play, great 1st touch and a pure nuisance for the defenders. First time I've came away from Fir Park this season having enjoyed a game. If I'm looking for negatives....the choice of substitute for a tiring Skippy was fucking bizarre, when we were flagging, we should have been looking for an Ainsworth or Moore to come on and carry the ball up the park...not Sutton. Also, Simon Ramsden could have easily been sent off before he was, he had a good game but his temperament lets him down badly at times.
  21. I couldn't care less who wins the league - unless we some how manage it. Skippy Sunday was all about stopping one half of the Old Firm having a party at our place...plain and simply, it wouldn't have mattered which arsecheek it was in my opinion.
  22. Porter and McCormack were pretty good as well
  23. A thank you for what exactly? Doing his job?? Potentially a really good signing, but I'm afraid I'll be reserving any praise until we somehow get out of this fucking mess. As others have said though, it looks like Les Hutchinson has allowed the Club the flexibility that we haven't had for years, and we appear to be making strides off the field, so thanks to him for that.
  24. anybody got any footage of Skippy Sunday? Want to show the weans who we have just signed
