Thought I'd leave my comments until today when I had calmed down a wee bit. I haven't seen any pre-season matches, our European fuck-up or our 1st 2 matches in the league. Partly to do with apathy and partly to do with having other stuff to spend my time and money on. I haven't renewed my season tickets as of yet either... Yesterday, was the worst display from a Motherwell team that I can remember since the Malpish season....utterly, shambolic. In my opinion, we are in a real bad way on the pitch.....only 3 players are exempt from criticism from yesterday; McManus, Ferguson and Erwin. McManus was like a 1-man defence at times yesterday, Erwin at least looked hungry and Ferguson purely because he was hung out to dry by his Manager. We have found ourselves in the position again this season where you couldn't merge our two goalkeepers together and create 1 competent one. A midget keeper who has no regard for coming for cross balls will never do...it creates uncertainty in the defence and causes us to defend far too deep. Our defence looked unbelievably frail...the sooner Ramsden goes back in beside Mick the better, Kerr seems to be getting lots of plaudits from some for his performance yesterday but I never thought he looked comfortable at any point with the ball at his feet. In saying that, I'd have him at right back before Reid, who looked like a 1st Division player yesterday. Fuck only knows what was going on in midfield....Carswell and Lasley do not have 1 creative bone in their collective bodies, one or the other, not both at the same time. Lasley is showing his age and again the question of why a 2 year deal was given must be asked? Ainsworth, looked totally uninterested and Law looked like he won't be able to cut the mustard at our level. Sutton, is nothing short of useless, unless the ball is in the 18 yard box....slow as shite, cannae jump and lands on his arse anytime the ball comes close to him. Our tactics were utterly baffling....we looked like the away team, as ICT controlled the game at a canter. Why we put a young, right-footed full back at left-back on his league debut is a bloody mystery to me, but then to go and offer him no protection in the form of a competent left-midfielder is beyond belief...it's little wonder that the kid looked highly uncomfortable and endured a bit of a torrid baptism as Erwin, Sutton and Law took it in turns to pretend to be left-midfielders. On that showing yesterday, we can forget top6.

McManus by far....a 1 man defence at times
-
I'd say so, aye
-
Bloody hope so

Darren Barr taking part in todays friendly....as I dont believe McCall can honestly rate him as a defender, the question has to be, did he play up front beside Concrete-boots or is he in actual fact the long-term answer to our goalkeeping conundrum??
-
No we don't....Twardzik and Neilsen are both as bad as each other
-
I've been pretty consistent in my opinions on the ex-Dundee 3rd choice to be fair
-
Just seen their winner from last night....our new keeper is an absolute roaster

Ran about like a headless chicken last night trying to find a pub with the game on, couldnt get it anywhere thankfully....if i had watched that then I've no idea what sort of state I'd have ended up in....Utterly diabolical to end up out of that competition after being in the lead in both legs, whilst Aberdeen and St Johnstone come through against FAR better opposition...I'm now of the opinion that McCall should go, he can't take us any higher in the league and wont take us any further in the Cups.....a few points/questions; Why were we so unfit, after spending so much money in Portugal? Why did we only play one (half-arsed) friendly? How long will be we persist with a midget in goals this season? Is Fraser Kerr a defender, if so , why do we keep slinging him on at right-mid? Zaine Francis-Angol, is one of the worst players I have ever seen at a professional level, what position is he competent in? We lost Hutchinson and Anier, and released McFadden from last season, why havent these players been replaced? I havent yet bought a season ticket for this season...why the fuck should I?

I'm not particularly wishing for anything OTF, all I am saying is that If the Well Society doesn't succeed in hitting their targets that we have someone who is willing to come in to help the Club...whether that person gains financially themselves isn't really that important so long as the Club has a secure future, with the ability to compete at the top level in Scotland.
-
I really hope we have a Billiy Bowie-type waiting in the wings (which is way I read the situation when I'm feeling optimistic), as I see absolutely no hope of the well society succeeding in bringing in 800k within the set timeline.

Badly, badly, badly need a striker signed up as soon as possible....far higher priority than a central defender in my opinion. In fact I'd say we need to sign a real goalkeeper before we sign a central defender.

Not bought a ticket and I'm not planning to....don't know what it is but I just can't be arsed. Feel the same way about getting a season ticket, but the weans won't leave me with any other option than to buy those. Kids football training on Thursday gives me a semi-valid excuse not to attend the Euro game I suppose... For what it's worth, I reckon we'll draw at Fir Park before beating them in Iceland

Who's raging?

The vast majority of them, no I'm not a fan....I think International football has become a farce because of the daft eligibility rules and the mercenaries who exploit them. The ones who i would deem to be exempt from your list would be; Maloney - he was born in Malaysia, but to Scottish parents and brought up in Scotland Russell Martin - got a Scottish dad Fletcher - got a Scottish mother and brought up in Scotland McCall - got a Scottish Father The likes of Gilks, Boyd, Morrison, Phillips and Bridcutt are English, were English, wanted to play for England and probably still do, just like Sullivan, Gould, Elliott and Scott fucking Dobie before them. The Granny rule, the residency rule and the schooling rule makes a total mockery of International Football in my opinion.

I was thinking more 'plastic paddies'....absolutely no problem with Catholics
-
I just never rated him, a one trick pony in my eyes, that flattered to decieve....I also hate watching Motherwell players dive. He also got right up my nose from the start as being one of these 'Celtic-types' who had pledged their International allegiance to a foreign country rather than the one that had given him his start in life.

Erwin was very impressive and to me looks like he could go straight into the 1st team, and would be more of a threat than McHugh for example. Big laddie, but I would say his footballing ability is far more pleasing on the eye than big concrete boots.
-
He played wide left for the majority of last nights game, and gave their right-back a torrid time....he's got pace, but not as much as Humphrey, looks slight, but wasnt shoved off the ball and took a few hefty challenges in his stride. Looks like a bag of tricks, but I wouldnt say he reminded me of O'Brien....because I'm still trying to forget he ever played for Motherwell. When he went in behind the strikers, when Erwin went off for the last 10mins, I felt that he didnt get anywhere near the amount of possession he had when he was out on the left, but by that time there had been a string of subs and some of the younger boys were obviously trying to show themselves in a positive light.
-
He played most of the match tonight...dont know what the story is, maybe his da' could fill us in?
-
Where did I say that?
-
Murray, Twardzik, cummings, law, leitch, angol, kerr and mchugh all played as well
-
Motherwell beat Peterhead 4-2 at Dalziel tonight. Erwin had a cracking game, Dom Thomas was the stand-out though...looks like he has a big future at Fir Park
-
Deary me....the fucking jealousy here is incredible. Deco is a living legend, possibly the only person on earth who has seen every Motherwell away Euro tie, and there are bangers slating him because he doesn't have an opinion on the state of the stairs in the East Stand or the fact both our goalies are fucking rotten. He's seen it, done it and has now retired to warmer climes, good on him I say, and having spent some time with him in Bucharest, Odense, Nancy, Llanelli and erm Brechin I can assure you all he's a sound chap who likes taking the odd photie of his achievements....probably in part, to wind up the absolute fucknuggets on this Board. We Are All Deco Long Live The Albo 10.....would've been 11 but my dinghy got swept westward towards Corfu

Like almost everyone from Lanarkshire born from 1960 to the late 1990's, McPake was born in Bellshill, but he probably left 2 or 3 days later.....he stays in Calderbank I'm sure.
