Heard tonight that we're in talks with McPake.....
-
Motherwell Mad Dog, sounds good
-
No way will we go into the season with 3 keepers......I reckon McCall wants to keep Hollis, but won't be in a position to offer him anything until Gunnar is out the door. Hollis and Twardzik as our keepers next season is not what I had hoped for at all
-
I received a text from a well-known wind up merchant extraordinaire from this board telling me that Twardzik had signed a 2 year deal, I was convinced he was at it, but lo and behold its fucking true. I'd say I fall more into the happy clapper camp at Fir Park than I do the MJC side of the great divide, but I'm honestly really disappointed in this signing......I've stated it a rake of times since Christmas, the lad done well for us over the handful of games he played, but for me he isn't the answer for our long-term purely because of his stature. Really not convinced by this signing at all, and even less so about McCall saying we'll be carrying 3 1st team keepers next season...... Tata Lee or Gunnar....or hopefully both, so that Dan is only being signed as back up to someone decent
-
The fact that they are heavily hinting at inviting potential investors to buy shares, tells me that they believe the Well Society is doomed to failure.
-
If I remember right, McCall is a friend of the 'Law' family, so its no surprise to see Josh Law sign on for us. Not really looked at his career path to date in any detail, or even what position he plays but as stated above, if he has half the success here that his brother had then he'll do for me..............lets hops he has a bit more common sense than Nicky though. 'You're allright, but your brothers a wank'

Q & A With Goram & Where's The Burds (Macca)

Andy, does Miriam have a bigger tadger than you? -
Our Scottish Cup Semi-Final against St Johnstone a few years back, did we not have a huge crowd in comparison to that of the Fermers fae Perth? And if you think we would have only took 8-9000 to a league cup final with Aberdeen then you're kidding yourself on. As a Club, we have a bigger budget, a bigger average attendance, a far larger latent support, a far superior history etc etc. versus teams like St Johnstone and Inverness Motherwell are on a par with Kilmarnock, as the biggest Clubs in Scotland outwith the traditional city clubs of Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and to a lesser extent Dundee.....and to press the point home, we'll no doubt finish above all of these Clubs other than Celtic this season and finish best of the rest yet again. Why we seem to fly below the radar of the media baffles me when you consider our relative, and continued success, over the past ten years or so.

Motherwell V Inverness Ct 19/03/14 Wednesday

Got to be delighted with the three points, but that second half would get fitba' stopped. Bored out my tiny mind -
Read in todays paper that he is on International Duty with Northern Ireland, great recognition for someone who is widely respected in Scottish Football .........but where does that leave us, particularly when our injury list is as big as I can remember for years? I'd far rather Porteous was working on players who stand a chance of making the Hibs game.
-
Is anybody seriously surprised by this result? If I had managed to get to the bookies between work and the weans fitba training I'd have lumped on United, given how ropey we looked against Thistle and how bad our injury list is just now.

Cheers

Neilson Murray Hutch McManus Hammell Carswell Lawson Vigurs Anier Faddy Sutton I agree that playing Hammell at right back weakens both flanks, so I would put him back to left back and give young Murray his chance - I've seen that lad play for the youth teams in the past and was impressed by him. Only other option is to shoe horn Carswell or Lawson in at right-back but that will just weaken our midfield further. From what I've seen of Lawson, he is going to struggle in a midfield two, and the same can be said for Vigurs, so I've gone with a compact midfield 3 which should make us tighter in there. For me, Anier and McFadden just offer far more effort than Ainsworth does, and when we are struggling for bodies with people playing in unusual positions and in a slightly unusual formation, there is no room for passengers - good impact sub to have though. The other one missing out is ZFA, if someone can make an argument for this lad to be given a berth in any Motherwell team, I'd love to hear it. I can't work out what his position is, and I can't work out what he offers the team. Other than that, we are down to the bare bones.....McHugh and Cummins both on loan, with potentially Hollis, Kerr, Ramsden, Lasley, Moore all out.....when was the last time we had so many players unavailable for selection? p.s. Is this match on TV, or is it just a 'Friday Night' game, for the fuck of it?
-
I voted big Hutch, the defence was frail because we had a left back playing at right back and at left back we had a lad that I have no idea where should be played. I thought Hutchinson was dominant from 1st min to last.
-
We made that much more difficult than it should have been today. When we went 2-1 up I fully expected us to go and score another couple of goals, but I would never have expected it to be 2 in the last 5 mins to rescue the match. Great feeling when big Mick scored the 4th
-
Should be more entertaining than the 'best away day' or 'worst away day' threads
-
The boy doesnt command his box - I've said it before and I'll say it again, he done us a great turn when he was here but as Goggles and Flippers has said, circumstances were very much in his favour. I wouldnt be happy if he was our long-term goalkeeper.
-
Twardzik isn't our long term answer in goals - far too wee
-
Exactly the point I was going to make.....the reason we get such shitey transfer fees is purely because we don't seem to advertise our players via the media, look at Goodwillie and the price utd got for him, and considering he hardly kicked a ball for Blackburn you've got to wonder how they managed it when we got a pittance for Murphy? Its also coming round again with Hutch, we're going to lose him for next to fuck all while Utd are knocking back larger bids for players with a fraction of his experience.
-
For us to have 3 1st team goalies in the squad would be crazy, I'd only be happy to see Dan stay if we lost Hollis or Gunnar. The fella done well when he was with us, but he wasn't overly keen on dealing with cross balls and that's where I worry about the height of a goalie
-
For all that he done really well in his short stint with us, I'd prefer that we see out the season with Hollis or Gunnar in goals and keep our eye out for a better replacement for next season. Twardzik was just too wee in my opinion and at some point that would have cost us
-
Yaaaaaasssss, after a great couple of weeks on the pitch with fuck all to moan about, it's reassuring to know that there is always some sort of disaster round the corner to keep us all on our toes #whereissteelboy
