So Higdon is still shite then Steely?
-
Fucking fat fingers..... Didnae mean to negative dot you, as I agree with every word. I wouldn't label him as a penalty box striker as he does so much of his work between the halfway line and 18 yard box.

The abuse the big man took when he 1st signed was fucking ridiculous, and he's left quite a few folk with egg on their face since then.
-
Thought we were pretty flat for large portions of the match and felt that we had more than 1 gear available to us if we needed to step it up. Great result and the sign of a good team, that can win so comfortably when not at their absolute best.

Making the trip to my second away game of the season (still trying to forget about the Ibrox shambles) and taking my boy to his 1st away game ever. Hopefully it's worth the effort.

Van Bronkhorst done it one night after my mate skelped wee Barry on the coupon with the ball after it had gone out for a throw in. If I remember right we all ducked and it cracked an old boy behind us square in the face and had to get treatment.

Was in France for Faddys goal and was in Denmark for Hateleys......unfortunately for Fitzy's goal I was in a boozer in Leith Walk after getting bounced out Easter Road after about 10mins of the match -
No brainer - Cup Win over a Euro Tour. However, if the question was 1 Cup win over a prolonged period of relative success in the League then I'd have answered differently.

You better believe I'd still be buzzing just now if we won the League Cup, but my point is that I'd much prefer to see a continual ans sustained level of high performance, success and consistency than all the shitey years that St Mirren have sustained before winning 3 or 4 matches and getting lucky by facing a hellishly bad Hearts team in the Final. As a 9yr old at the Final I possibly didn't realise the significance of the Cup win, but as a 31 year old I do, and I still wouldn't give up all these years of prolonged achievement for one successful day in the Hampden sun. The consistency that we have shown since Malpas left is far more praiseworthy than what Danny Lennons men have achieved. -

Fucking hate it when I agree with Steelboy -
I never bothered with a season ticket in all my years supporting the 'well, as I was young, free and single and could justify shelling out as much cash as I wanted, when I wanted. That all changed when my son was born 9 years ago and I've had a season ticket ever since, as I knew then that I'd probably drift away from PATG as cash would be much tighter week-to-week. Things have changed slightly and I now have 2 boys to take to the fitba', and to be perfectly honest, its probably more for them that I continue to buy a season book and turn up every 2nd week at Fir Park. I strongly disagree with much of what goes on in Scottish Football and I did have thoughts about of it was really all worth the hassle, what with the re-structure, OF dominance, cost/value etc etc but I dont see a situation arising which will make me stop attending Fir Park with my boys. This season though, has been the 1st season since I started attending football unaccompanied that I have gone out of my way NOT to attend away games (my form of protest, as to be perfectly blunt, I couldnt give two fucks about any other team in the league and their money woes), the only one I have gone to was at Ibrox to get it up the h**s (which I wish I fucking hadnt), I'm also considering going to Dundee a week on Saturday, as its not very often we have a player of Faddys calibre playing in the league let alone for our team and I want to make the most of his time here. Next season, I'll no doubt by a season book again, and continue to dinghy away matches. If it wasnt for my boys though, I dont know if I'd still be going, there were a crowd of us who went week in, week out, home and away. Now, for one reason or another I'm the only one that attends the every home match without fail.

Agreed! We must be doing something right behind the scenes. We have one of, if not the, smallest squad in the league and our playing budget must be a fraction of what the city clubs pay yet, I believe that this season at least and probably for the last 3 or 4 seasons we have been streets ahead of most of them. -

I agree with almost every word you have said, other than the 'irrational' reference. I can't fathom, why anybody would give up the consistently good form (high league placings since Malpas left), the players we have seen (Skippy, The Juke, Rossco, Porter, Faddy, Ojamma, Law, Randolph, Ruddy, Jennings, even our less high profile players would walk into St Mirrens team) the places we have had the good fortune to play in (Nancy, Odense, Bucharest, Levante, Athens) for one day out at Hampden. Dont get me wrong, I was 9 in 1991, and was at the match, and would love to see us do it again, but to throw away the last 6 years of almost constant highs for that 1 day is crazy. This time next year, I wont remember who won the League Cup in 2013, and the fact that St Mirren won it wont make me fear them the next time we play them, but I bet you there wont be many St Mirren fans who would say the same anytime we play them as we have been consistently within the top 3/4 teams in the country over the last few years. As for your other points, Higdon will go down as a Club Legend for cracking the 20goals for a season barrier and rightly so, but I was meaning more your Hateleys, Humphreys and Ramsdens. Take Hateley/Griffin for instance, both play the same position, neither being real fans favourites, both playing in successful teams, which one will be remembered more favourably years from now? -

I would hazard a guess that the amount of people chucking it would be a lot higher than the figure on the poll on this very messageboard, if we were completely pish rather than chasing a top2 finish for the first time since the mid-90's! -

I can imagine this messageboard if we won either the League Cup or Scottish Cup 6 years ago, followed by 6 seasons in the bottom 6 and flirting with relegation. No way, would I give up what we have had since Malpas left for one great day out, and those that say they would are thinking irrationally. We've got folk right, left and centre saying that they will chuck it next season for one reason or another and thats when we are the 2nd best team in the country, what would these folk be saying if we were sitting 2nd bottom of the league season after season? In saying that, I genuinely think that a team needs to win something to be revered for ever amongst a support. Guys like Ian Angus, Jim Griffin and Ian Ferguson are Club legends solely on the back of one match in May 1991. We've had much better players than these guys in C&A since who wont be remembered as fondly. -
Johnny Doyle was re-wiring some electrics in his loft when he died apparently...... Red to red, black to black, blue to fuck.....

Well, it was reasonably comfy, Faddy was exceptional, he scored his 1st goal and you would have hardly knew that the thumb was playing. Great all round performance, and I love big higgy nearly as much as Faddy

The one fucking year where we could have potentially got a big pot of cash (usually reserved for Cheeks 1 and 2) and we turn all socialist. I can understand pish teams like Hearts, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock being all for a change this season but we should have always had ambitions to finish 2nd this year. -
Friday night fitba is a real pain in the baws. Hopefully should be able to make kick off though. I can see Faddy having his best game since coming back, and hopefully his 1st goal in a comfy win. All we need to do is keep the thumb quiet.

This on tv?

Quite a lot of folk took an instant dislike to him for some reason, others still can't bring themselves to admit they were wrong (steelboy?). I can remember when he played with Falkirk and St Mirren in particular that he regularly made a c**t of our defence, and with us generally having a better team than them and therefore creating more chance I always felt that he would be a good signing for us.
-
As I said, maybe its just me but I think he is terrible
-
Maybe its just me but I cant take to Humphrey at all, his decision making is generally poor and he is teh biggest blouse in the team. From a poistive point of view (considering we have just beat Cellic) I thought Faddy was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch, technically, mentally and physically (although still not match fit, he was tremendous in the air and in the tackle). I felt that he really drove us onto that performance last night. Never noticed his gesture to the beggars, what did he do?? Law was outstanding, as was Higdon, Lasley, Hutch and Cummins. Ojamma was hot and cold at different points in the match, while I like the solid look of Ramsden playing at full-back. Not sure that Hammell was match-fit though as he seemed to allow Forrest a wee bit too much freedom.

Fantastic stuff last night from the team in general, performances that really stand out for me though are Law, Faddy and Cummins
