I hope the Everton game turns out to be true, set a decent price for tickets and pack the place out, give the fans a bit of a glamour home friendly and the players a chance to test themselves against quality oppostion. Everton had an incredible end to the season, losing only 2 of their final 18 games.

I like the idea of the Well Society, it is something I have been considering joining - I am still undecided at the present time. Becoming a Dad last June means money is a little tight. I am pleased to hear the club have reopened avenues of communication and I think another one or two meetings for face to face discussion would be a good idea. I'm not a season ticket holder, so despite buying the odd away ticket I surprisingly haven't received any communication from the club. 1 main concern - what if I commit £300 but the scheme doesn't take off. I am guessing it is completely non-refundable. 1 suggestion to people interested - Take a look at FC United of Manchester andAFC Wimbledonas examples of what a community club run by supporters can achieve with a good hardcore and dedicated support. As Dylan once sang 'the -times-they-are-a-changing' and one quick look at the state of Scottish Football sends shivers down my spine. If Motherwell can gather this hardcore support - and by that I don't mean those that go home and way, I mean those with the club in their hearts; genuine goodwill to the club - the they can survive, ride out the hard times and hopefully flourish in the future. Selling Fir Park and building a new stadium will be a good and positive start, revitalising the club for the future. I hope we can get that far. I couldn't get to the first meeting due to work so I do hope that more are announced. A series of weekly meetings would mean that those wanting to come in and spend time talking could do so.

I still really like Forbes. I think he can play football. He isn't the quickest but he can pass the ball and is good from a dead ball. His confidence must be at an all time low. I thought the game on Saturday was crying out for someone to get their foot on the ball and play a pass. He started that season with Gannon as manager on fire. Time up at Fir Park though?
-
Thankfully I had a night out on Saturday and managed to forget about how bad that game was, particularly the second half. Few things to get off my chest 1) Hately is a right-back or right-mid at most. DEFINITELY NOT a central mid 2) Higdon has had his moments this season, Saturday was DEFINITELY NOT one of them. Painfully slow, well off the pace and his touch was abysmal. 3) Omar and Murphy had little moments, seemed to be on a different wavelength from the rest of the team 4) Central mid was non-existent I may be tempted to just go for a few pints next home game.

Sorry to dampen everyones enthusiasm for this but I really can't see Motherwell spending any money on Fir Park when the clear plan is to move from there in the not too distant future.
-
I can't believe McCall didn't bring on a couple of players today, even 10-minutes from the end. Forbes especially. The younger players aren't going to gain any experience from sitting on the bench.
-
Higdon will come good and score goals when he gets some decent service and support. Murphy was very poor today, he was well off the pace and far to easily bundled off the ball. Any scouts watching today wouldn't have been impressed. Higdon was holding the ball well at times, but no-one was running ahead of him. Higdon is probably slower than Sutton (that is saying something) but his ability to hold the ball up could be utilised a lot more.

Pleased to see Hammell getting the vote, best player today, one of the few we have capable of spreading play or playing inventive football. We had some good possession today, we just couldn't do anything with it. Against the majority of teams in the SPL we would have got something out of the game. Steve Davis was excellent for Rangers, we couldn't cope with him and I thought McMillan and Wylde were also good for them. Lafferty annoys the f**k out of me for his diving, going down at the slightest touch. Onwards and upwards, 10 points on the board and a trip to Dunfermline coming up.

Faddy isn't fit and has been travelling to Europe for treatment. Bolton are very interested.

I'm hoping for a good game on Sunday and I think both teams will score. I'd take a draw in a minute. I fear that the likes of Naismith, Davis and Jelavic could really go to town on our defence. I hope Randolph is on form. I think our attack could also really test their defence, if Law can get ahead of the ball and behind their defence we have a real chance.
-
Fantastic goal, it looks even better on TV. Not long been on Sky News. I've been very impressed with Hately so far this season, he seems to be kicking on a bit. Bring on the Rangers.
-
Very bad news for player and club. Best wishes to the lad for a speedy and sustained recovery. I hope McCall is on the blower to some contacts today, even to get someone in on loan.

Work rate isn't a problem, it is the end product. I like Humphrey, not that you would guess that from my (hopefully constructive) criticism. He gets me on the edge of my seat when he gets the ball, the problem is that I usually end up standing up out of frustration rather than to congratulate him. The frustration comes from the fact that he has potential and gets into good positions, just needs to look up now and again. Big Higdon is crying out for some good crosses to attack. Anyway, we'll leave it at that and hope that he plays a blinder in his next game.

I do agree with some previous points re Humphrey, his crossing through the course of teh match was very poor and Higdon rightly had a go at him in the first half for it. He also should have on some corners or throw-ins but instead he just ran the ball out of play. He needs to improve. He does not mean to run the ball out of play it happens, just one of those things, not one mention of the superb cross to Murphy which he should of scored, but because its Murphy its not worth mentioning. I actually agree with the overall opinion yesterday, he got plenty of balls into the box, and i would say we should of scored at least 3 goals from them, the cut back to Murphy, the cut back to Jennings, the header for Murphy all great chances to score and we never took them, one day they will go in and Humphrey would of had three assists and be the talk of the match. Yes there is improvement needed in all departments from everyone in the team not just Humphrey. He does a great job and im sure you want him in your start line up. 3rd games of the season not conceded a goal and he has worked the left back in all 3 games, he and the team are moving forward in the right direction. There is not one player on the pitch that does not need to improve Daily Record: The Motherwell boss, at least, had something to be pleased about in 33 minutes when the best move of the match saw Nicky Law, who looks a real player, send Humphrey scurrying down the right flank with a terrific pass. The winger fired an excellent cross over which found Murphy arriving at the far post but the youngster mistimed his jump and his header flew harmlessly over. Humphrey played in Law, who in-turn picked out Murphy and the 21-year-old showed composure to coolly tuck beyond Kello I think he done ok, dont you. Steps down off his Orange Box! I sat in the Main Stand yesterday and I had a great view of Humphrey in the first half. That was a great cross, but the majority of times there was real frustration felt at his crossing or losing of possession. Hately was doing a great job, but Humphrey wasn't repaying him. Of course he doesn't mean to run the ball out of play. The fact is that he does, when other players would win corners or throw-in's. I feel like shouting a Forrest Gump style STOP when he sets off. He struggles to change direction when he starts as he is going so fast. I often wonder what he would be like through the middle. Humphrey has a lot of potential due to his pace, but he could really do with improving his end product. I agree there is room for improvement all over, I think it is just more glaringly obvious with Humphrey than others. I think he scored 3 goals in 33 games last season, I'm not sure what his assist stats are like. Away from home i would play Hately in right midfield. Other than that I would have him in my team simply because there are no other options.
-
Fantastic result yesterday and not a bad performance either, although the bit in the 2nd half when we didn't put in crosses or shots with the additional man and we kept to the left wing or going back to the keeper was frustrating. I thought Hately was fantastic. Solid and good coming forward. I do agree with some previous points re Humphrey, his crossing through the course of teh match was very poor and Higdon rightly had a go at him in the first half for it. He also should have on some corners or throw-ins but instead he just ran the ball out of play. He needs to improve. Lasley and Jennings played well, Law looks amazing and the move into the middle suited him and opened up the play. Saunders looked shaky and I for one am plaeased that Hasselbank is suspended next week. Very positive time to be a 'well fan - roll on Saturday. Good to hear on Sportscene last night that McCall would like to get in a player or two - the squad is very bare
-
I just hope that McCall already has a couple of players in mind to make moves for quickly if Murphy does get signed before the end of the transfer window. Does anyone watch the youth team on this forum? Do we have any other budding McFadden's or Murphy's coming through?
-
My mate had a press pass for the game on Saturday and got some great pictures. Check out the one of Murphy in black and white but with the strip in colour http://www.flickr.com/photos/bigdavetaylor/sets/72157627209732178/

Do we have a lot of options? Is our squad any bigger? I'll go for 2-1 to Motherwell although I'll miss the game as like another boarder I am off down to the Wickerman Festival.
-
The team pretty much picks itself, I can't argue with your selection I just worry about injuries and suspension. The first team is OK, not a lot of room for change. I'd play Hately at right midfield in any games against some of our better opponents. Craigan can be rested the odd game. Our squad is very bare though.
-
Just back from the shop, bought this. It is really smart, love the fact there is no sponsor on it
-
I think Motherwell will do very well to finish in the top 6 with that squad. I really hope we can get a couple of experienced players on board by hook or by crook. I'm not holding my breath though.
-
As much as I would hate to see Murphy leave Fir Park, for the sake of his own career development I completely agree with the comments from Steelboy. Playing with better players will bring on Murphy no end. Good luck to him if he gets the move. If so, I hope that a good chunk can be invested in signings and also contracts. I personally feel that the squad is incredibly bare.
-
I do hope Humphrey improves this season. He has the pace, if he can add some accuracy and goals then there may well be more scouts coming to see him.
-
Jeez is that all a player has to do to be liked!? Pity his control is terrible, his crossing not much better and his finishing is even worse. Humphrey is not a good football player. If anyone has an evidence in the shape of stats or video footage then I would love to see it.

Fave current 'well player - Murphy Least fave - Chris Humphrey I think Forbes is one of the few players that actually likes to get the ball on the deck and play the ball. He is also one of the few players Motherwell have (Lasley being another) capable of doing just that. He also has an eye for goal and is capable of striking a decent setpiece. He does lack a yard or so of pace. I hope he gets a chance and that Motherwell play to his strengths. It wasn;t that long ago that he burst on the scene with some goals and a flag was made in his honour! Since then there has been no consistency in terms of management; something a young player needs when breaking through.
