  1. Yeah Forbes is one of the few players who looks comfortable in possession and he is happy to play short simple passes, while also having the ability to open things up. His clipped pass in the second half coming out of defence split 4 or 5 players and had Murphy controlled it it could have resulted in a goal. If Motherwell had more players running off the ball (the lack of movement at times last night was shocking) then Forbes would be great to have in the centre of the park, with Jennings doing his dirty work. Have to disagree with Jennings as Mom. I don't recall him doing anything of note.
  2. I agree, Reynolds strolled through the game and it would have been nice if he ventured forward more with the ball. Forbes has a great touch and is always looking to play a good pass, he really does lack pace though. I agree that the system should be set up to incorporate him and play to his strengths. If he improved his fitness he could be a real player. I can't believe Lasley is leading this poll. I admit that he made himself available for the ball a lot of the time but what did he actually do with it? He lost possession a number of times, including once that resulted in a chance for the opposition. Hammell had a decent game. I'd give pass marks to him, Forbes, Reynolds and Murphy. Sutton looked out of place in that formation and Humphrey was just terrible. They were a poor team but they could have easily taken the lead at the start of the second half. It's going to be a close call next week.
  3. To the tune of The Beach Boys 'I Get Around' LISTEN HERE Brown, Brown, Brown, Brown, we've got Craig Brown Brown, Brown, Brown, Brown, we've got Craig Brown we've got Craig Brown, we've got Craig Brown, we've got Craig Brown repeat And one that might not take off, to the tune of The Beatles 'Your Mother Should Know' Lets all get up a dance to a song That was a hit the day Motherwell was born Although we were born a long, long time ago We're Motherwell We're Motherwell Any other Beatles fans out there might be able to come up with something better for the lyrics
  4. lets hope we are not suicidal after the final whistle tomorrow! (bad joke i know, couldn't resist)
  5. my mate plays fives in the trainers in the middle
  6. just trying to highlight that ticket sales are going well hope there is a good atmosphere
  7. I'm right up the back tomorrow night. My mates Dad was off yesterday so he got us tickets. He said it was really busy. Fingers crossed for a good crowd.
  8. i think you might find the reason these people are not confronted is because they are neds/thugs who hang around in a crowd - remember what happened to the old boy in Wales last year?
  9. never mind all that whose a$$ is that in your profile pic?!
  10. I may be going blind but I can't find a thread in relation to Thursday's game. The Europa thread seems to be for the away leg. Anyway, I am quite excited and nervous about the game on Thursday. Craig and Archie did a tremendous job with the team last season and I am positive that the good work will continue into 2010/11. It will be interesting to see the line-up on Thursday. I imagine there may be some surprises, there will be some new faces and the selection may be based on fitness following the 3 friendlies. I don't think Brown will be afraid to put players on the bench if they haven't proved themselves. The start of the season (albeit an early one) always fills me with excitement and it's good to go to games without wearing winter jackets, scarves, hats and in my mid-30's - thermal leggings! Last winter was a long cold one and the problems with the pitch didn't make it a pleasant one - Brown worked miracles to keep heads up and results coming. It will be nice to go to a game possibly in a t-shirt and get a nice pint in the sunshine. Fingers crossed for a few goals. I'll go for 3-1 to Motherwell. It is a bit annoying that you need to buy tickets for this in advance. Will the crowd be that large?!
  11. We have to make do with what we have. Sutton puts himself about, he DOES score goals - maybe not as frequently as we would like, but he does score.
  12. I had the pleasure of meeting Craig in April. He is a fantastic guy and his knowledge and passion for football is incredible, Motherwell are lucky to have him as a manager. I would ask him; 1. Would he incorporate a winter break to the SPL? 2. How many teams should be in the SPL? And how many divisions should there be in Scottish football? 3. Which Motherwell youngsters does he see breaking into the team this season, or going on to bigger and better things? 4. To spice it up, or for a funny story, ask him about the Mo Johnston Swiss bank account story! It is a cracker. All the best
  13. Well done to the fans of Stirling Albion on their takeover. I wonder if Motherwell would ever offer the fans the chance to buy a share in the club... And if so, would their be rush to buy shares?
  14. i would rather go out two days before and make a break of it £385 for one day is a bit much would there be no possibility of a 2 or 3 day trip?
  15. I wonder if the club would charter a flight for this?
  16. Lucas for me, magnificent strong centre forward, great at holding the ball up, good shot, eye for goal and all for a young guy. I would love to see him back on loan at Fir Park next season. At least until January if no-one comes in for him in the summer. Forbes had an excellent start to the season but fell away, needs to work on his fitness. Coke, Hately, O'Brien, Sutton and of course Ruddy all did very well.
  17. i think the current away top pisses all over the home top i'd love to see motherwell playing in that every week still claret and amber
  18. I have to agree with you. Granted the pitch has to get slagged off. No excuses for that. And I think the pricing structure for games needs some constructive criticism and suggestions. But Jim O'Brien has been getting slagged off. I personally think the guy works his socks off for Motherwell and is one of the few creative players on the park. Not everything he does comes off, but he is a good player. Too many people that post on here have their glass half empty. Motherwell are having a fantastic season thanks to some terrific performances and the brilliant introduction of Craig Brown and Archie Knox. More positive threads please.
  19. too early to tell but if Reynolds leaves we need to replace him. Craigan is a good seasoned pro but will he last a season without injuries or suspension? With Craig Brown's contacts I hope the club bring in some more promising youngsters on loan. I can't imagine many managers will be keen to have their starlets playing on the current surface though. Maybe a new groundsman should be the priority signing1
  20. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/...86908-22203111/ Interesting. And with Craig Brown saying he doesn't blame him (nor do I) surely this is the last chance for Motherwell to get this right.
  21. i've got tickets for that too, should be a good one
  22. Interesting thread. I wouldn't be against a move to a new stadium, but I would think that the site Motherwell have couldn't be bettered. Unless rail links were close to the new ground. Why is it only in the last 2-3 seasons that the lack of sunlight on the South Stand side of the pitch has been an issue? Never used to have any problems with the pitch.
  23. 16 team league With two relegated and a play-off for third bottom And then make the league below that 16 as well
  24. Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Motherwell supremo Craig Brown when he visited the Lanarkshire Centre of the charity I work for - Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres. Craig met a group of guys who have prostate cancer, including Bill Valentine who has held a season ticket at Fir Park for 50-years! So there was a good bit of banter about Motherwell teams from years gone by and Bill may well feature in Craig's programme notes on Sunday. Craig was polite, engaging and in great form. Listening to what the guys from the prostate group had to say and asking intelligent questions. He also had the room in stitches with some great anecdotes, many involving a certain Mr McCoist.
