2-0 Dundee

Three defenders standing in a line and the Dundee guy just shot low through them with all the time in the world. A tad frustrating as we have performed well defensively in recent weeks.

0-1 Dundee Keech defending

Looking forward to the game, first time heading to Dens in many a year. It's a great headache for Alexander to have with all the forwards putting in a great shift last weekend and Van Veen having come off a double against Aberdeen, same defensively as Lamie seemed to drop out the team after playing well but certainly deserves to retain his place after his last showing, but that being said Ojala has been great. Three points would be most welcome as it would be nice to have a 14 point cusion over them. When they visited Fir Park earlier in the season we seemed to just let Adam pull the strings and pick his man out but when he went off injured it benefitted us, it will be interesting to see if we stick to last weeks approach as that was a joy to watch. I wouldn't be surprised to see the winner scored from a set piece in a tight game.

I had to go back and check that as it seemed wrong to me, but outwith the 2017/18 season you were right in that the past decade has been really pathetic in regards to cup runs, just one omission though we beat Hamilton in a SC tie in January 2018 when Scott McMann scored a lovely own goal. However you look at the nature of some of the losses and it feels so much worse looking back, without going into too much detail but losing a QF to ten man Aberdeen then in a similiar time period then papped us out the Scottish Cup by them then days later in a league game a makeshift defence of Page/Cummins easily records a 1-0 win. Exits to Albion, Rangers and Morton down the leagues not to mention the late McManus show at Ibrox where he gifted them a passage to the next round.

Tremendous performance yesterday, I actually feared the worst when I realised we were missing a few players. Each and every player were a credit, dominated the match from start to finish. BBC had them as having 6 attempts at goal, I can only remember two. Great headache for Alexander to have with the team selection next week with everyone returning bar Donnelly. While it was great to see the Tommy McLean stand full of supporters from a club other than the Glasgow arse cheeks it was equally great seeing them bail out after Lamie netted the second. Does anyone know why Gordon was upset with officials at full time, I know hes a torn faced wee fud most weeks but it was his side that got away with murder, that Devlin for instance had ten fouls without getting a booking not to mention running up to the fourth official then Collum for some reason after we scored the first.

Obviously delighted with the win and three points, I think the frustrating thing is when we came out for the second half it was totally night and day performance wise, the side blew Aberdeen away in a short space of time with some nice football, we actually sprayed the ball around nicely, proved to be lethal in front of goal which shows the side do have the ability in their locker to compete in a more entertaining way. Naturally with the nice lead Alexander went back to the defensive tactics and we held on for a great result. As sad as it sounds I couldn't get enough of the Dons fans tears on social media about our tactics so I had a peak at P and B and their own forum which brings some fantastic reading.

Honestly I had us down for getting pumped this weekend. It was certainly a game of two halves, the frustrating thing was when we came out firing straight out the blocks in the second half they just didn't look comfortable at all and we got two quick goals, nice to see some real quality as well, before scoring it looked like we were denied a stonewall penalty as well. Delighted with the result and three points, also great to see the Aberdeen melt down on social media as well.

Carroll on for Watt

Surprisingly no. I'm sure he'll be having flashbacks from Wednesday night wishing he could reuse that lifeline today lol. In all seriousness it just goes to show he is a rotten official, but I'm sure he'll be listed for a top tier game next week despite this weeks performances.

Just seen the Celtic penalty incident, Madden thinks its acceptable for a Livi player to have his head taken off his shoulders by Hart but no penalty given, then up the Livi end the keeper has the ball in his hands, Kyogo pushes the Livi defender who then slaps the back of his head, he falls to the ground holding his face and a pen is given and the defender is red carded. Also, Brophy tried his trick again today for St Mirren against Dundee around the 50th min but no pen.
-
Boabby denies Livi a stonewaller late in the Celtic game today and gives them a 90th minute pen but it was saved lol.

There was an incident in the Rangers box where an Aberdeen player was clearly pinned at a corner and in great view of Beaton but it's just waved away and then they get that pen near the end that is as soft as that where the ref can't point to the spot quick enough, not to mention the foul on the lead up to it. I don't care what anyone says but they (alongside the other arse cheeks) absolutely get the benefit of the doubt every single time, I'm actually struggling to think of a time where a ref has cost Rangers a single point against us or even just given a ludicrous decision which has impacted them in someway. Whether it's pitch invasions when they're getting pumped to Derek Johnston doing a Tom Daley impression in the box or Bob Malcolm stamping on a players head in front of the ref only to go on to score a 90th min winner or Bobby Madden's performance last season where he is giving them a bundle of penalties but ignored Campbell's stonewaller, you could go on and on, the more things change the more they stay the same. What I find interesting is its almost two years since they have had a domestic sending off but in Europe this year alone they have had four. I know our refs are shite and probably the worst they have ever been, I have come to terms with that now but I just wish they applied consistent rules to both sides,

I can't say I'm too optimistic for the match, Rangers haven't been playing great as of late but you kinda get that feeling we'll make them look like Brazil as we made a ropey Celtic side look more than decent. If we do find a performance you just know Mr Walsh will be on hand to help them out in some manner. Any points here would be most welcome. I agree with other posters, 352 sounds good in terms of set up but I honestly won't be surprised to see us line up 433 to match them. Assuming Ojala is fit I'd bet Alexander will go for pretty much the same lineup as Wednesday with Van Veen in for Shields being the only change. I would prefer to see Carroll in for McGinley as I feel his set pieces could be pivotal here.

Probably a really stupid question on my part as I think I already know the answer but do you think clubs get apologies from officials or the SFA when they arse up as bad as that? Not that it makes up for the result in the end. Generally all you usually hear is a manager sometime mention the ref phoned them to apologise, players generally say they just get fobbed off. After the Stevie O'Reilly Hibs game 8 or 9 years ago (worst officiating performance ever tbh) where he subbed himself off as he knew he had a horror show, he would only officiate one more top flight game before heading down the leagues then disappearing completely. Today the officials seem to escape any sort punishment as Madden gets to enjoy taking charge at Parkhead on Saturday. Its just really frustrating as in 4 of the last 3 games he has been the ref he has made major errors, obviously the penalty incident its rare for a kick to be retaken but I'm sure Madden was the ref when he penalised Carson for taking too long while holding the ball a few seasons up at Dundee. Game wise I felt we were heading for a dull 0-0 at half time but I was delighted how we started the second half, like the poster says above I have to remind myself we didn't actually get beat.

Full Time 0-0

First touch letting Watt down otherwise he was thru one on one

Came out sleeping. Great save by Kelly

Faddy was suggesting on the BBC that Watt was fouled just before he crossed the ball which went behind Campbell and Roberts, had he went down it could have been a penalty, would be interesting to see that back. It's nice to have some creative options on the bench, hopefully see Lawless later on.
