I seen that as well and was quite surprised by it, I mean after tomorrows game we will have played a game more than two of our rivals and this fixture presents us with a great chance as this is our game in hand over Killie, it would be massive if we could get a positive result. This has been a massively frustrating season and its been full of dramas for all the wrong reasons, I'm fed up with my wife asking why their is skid marks on my Y fronts its been that strenuous. Obviously I hope we win by any means necessary but the whole Covid stuff would make it all the sweeter as these points were already in the bank.
We have had previous for that in recent years, Andy Rose for instance was allowed to move to the MLS mid season and it was his old American side that would benefit with a fee for his services and the same with Pearson in regards to his move to India before he returned looking injured, if players don't want to commit then just don't sign them. I know its all hear say about Gallagher's situation but I do find it strange that he was an ever present for the side but an injury occurs just before the match in which he would initiate a contract extension.
In the space of a week we have been bossed at home by two rank rotten sides (seven conceded), I know we are just as putrid but we had a real opportunity to draw them back into the relegation mix today but we were well off it, I can accept getting beat but when you are fighting near the bottom you would at least think they would care. I think most fans seemed scunnered when they seen the side pre match, obviously we knew we had massive injury problems but its quite ridiculous the numbers that are out, a wee bit of transparency wouldn't go a miss. Least Accies and Killie slipped up but I can't help but worry that we are heading back down the way.
Anyway same again Wednesday then sadly.
In 2018 in the lead up to the Scottish Cup Final they kicked the utter shite out of us as the season came to a close, Murray Davidson throwing his elbows about and avoiding a red card as per. We ended up getting pumped 5-1 that day as the players clearly didn't want get into a physical battle. They play Livingston in the League Cup Final the following Sunday after our fixture, I would love to see a role reversal where we take an aggressive approach as you would hope their minds would be on that game but knowing us we'll muster up something like yesterday.
I don't generally enjoy seeing Celtic or Rangers win but I'm glad St Johnstone lost today as it keeps them right in the mix at the bottom and now we have a game in hand so their is the potential for a four point gap over them. It will be interesting to see what the lineup will be for this match, despite having such a bloated squad it appears we are struggling to put out one side with any real quality.
It was reminiscent of the season when Baraclough took over. I remember him saying he watched the 4-0 pumping that McCall was in charge of earlier in the season and we were out to right some wrongs for that but it proved to be far worse as we got done 5-0, I think that year we got beat 5 out of 4 games against them. I didn't think we could sink any lower than the New Year Derby but here we are.
I don't know what the issue is but Accies always treat this game like a derby and seem motivated for it while we always seem to approach it in first gear as if we need to just turn up to secure points, its actually amazing when you think of the sheer number of players and managers that have come and gone for both sides since they came back up but it always remains the same, out with turning them over a few times we seem to struggle against them. I can accept getting beat but that was dreadful today, it was a shame really as we had a chance to make a massive gab between us and the bottom few. We now likely have the joys of playing them in another fixture at NDP, hopefully we have pushed on up the table by then.
Does anyone know what the deal is with the absent players that were signed before the deadline? I know Lawless is injured but are the likes of Nolan, Smith and Foley also on the treatment table or are they just much of a muchness to what we already have?
9 gift wrapped points this season. Almost as if we want them to stay up so we can finish above them the following season. The frustrating thing is they played well against us and Rangers but will no doubt be keech when they meet St Mirren.
