3 points from 12 against a pish St Johnstone side this season. I thought the match was gearing up to be an entertaining affair as it went back and forth quite quickly without either keeper being tested. It was a great cross in to be fair from Carey for the opener but it's so frustrating watching everyone ball watching other than the forward. I had that feeling Bair was going to come up short with the penalty, he loves to hit them low to the left and I'm sure that was well researched by his former club. The less said about the second goal the better. They certainly identified Mugabi as a weak link as they kept pinging long balls right to him. I thought the ref was frustrating again at times, a Bair effort was well blocked in the first half and you would think the goalkeeper and defender celebrating the tackle and with everyone heading into relevant positions was enough to convince him otherwise but no. He also seemed to take an age making his mind up at times denying Bair a great opportunity in the second half like 6 seconds after he won the ball. I couldn't help but feel the footballing gods were watching over them today, a routine cross early in the game ended up being cleared off our own defender and it took a great save by Kelly to claw it away from the top corner. I'll give them credit for the three blocks on the line from our effort but when Spittal's shot came off the inside of the post and rolled into the keepers arms you just knew it wasn't going to be our day. However Moses goal was nicely taken, just typical it came on the 94th minute. Ross County hit the post twice late on in the game at Dingwall. TBF I hate travelling up that neck of the woods so hopefully Raith Rovers can do the business but I feel they will come up short.

Chance to make yourself a hero and he does that. Quite a few former players involved in different playoffs across the board lately, most seem to have endured some misery.

St Johnstone fans getting fired up the top tier today. Hopefully sign off the season with a nice win. I suspect they might fold like origami if we score first but I'm not too confident in us keeping a clean sheet.

I seen it mentioned somewhere that Jon Obika was helping with the warm up versus Hibs. He is 34 in September and his injury record the last two or three years hasn't been great, I wonder if he is looking to transition into a coaching role. Hopefully that optional year on his contract was in our favour rather than his. I was pleased when Halliday signed as it gave us some league experience in the middle, he seemed to start brightly enough but he is so slow and ponderous on the ball and will never last a full 90. From the list of players posted above there isn't many I would be too sad to see go. If Kettlewell has made contract offers to any I hope he has put a deadline on them before we move on to other targets.

Apologies. He was Stevie O'Reilly brutal in the games he covered.
-
Colin Steven is the referee for this one, he was brutal in the two matches he covered this season.

I remember reading an article from a designer at the start of the season and they ranked this seasons kits and they had Motherwell in 11th and Hibernian at 12th. I appreciate everyone has there own tastes and that but I thought those two kits were great in a traditional sense (minus the Hibees sponsor of course), especially when you look at some of the hideous efforts on show such as Celtic's. Adidas designs have been mental this season, they slapped a mad design on Aberdeen's away kit and just marketed it as a 'Northern Lights' kit and the fans were all over it and they did similar with other teams. It's going to be interesting to see how our fan design will turn out and I wonder if St Johnstone will show up with it as well.

Great to hear Willie Collum will never referee another Motherwell game but the sad news is that he will be take up the role as Head of Referees. I thought they might have looked elsewhere after Crawford Allan's performance.

They have went through some amount of managers recently, they have managed to try a few different approaches from experienced guys and then taking a punt on the likes of Shaun Maloney then most recently Montgomery who by all accounts seemed to be doing well in Australia, I'm not sure what would get you pass marks at Hibs these days. I found it interesting to see that out of the 42 senior clubs in Scotland, Kettlewell is currently sitting at number 16 in length of time served. Looking forward to the game tonight, we were a bawhair from taking the three points on our last visit to Easter Road and anybody but Oli Shaw at Fir Park to snatch the three points. They have two long stalwarts playing for the final time tonight in defence, it would be nice to send them off with a defeat.

North Lanarkshire heritage have footage of a few 'Well games from the 20s but as Bobbybingo mentions above it's the game against Partick thats used. You can see a few noticeable buildings in the back ground like the school and the building that sat around Edward Street area.

Callan Elliot leaving at the end of his short term deal. He's off to New Zealand to join Auckland according to Scott Burns.

Rabbi Matondo won the PFA goal of the season, plenty of other goals were more worthy of that award. Spittals and Nicholsons are far superior to it. I think it was the same last year when a Celtic player won it but it was a poor choice.

I seem to remember Alan Burrow's saying in an interview that County typically needs to pay an extra 20% to entice players up to Dingwall due to the location. It was mentioned as well that we competed with them to sign Jackson Irvine back in 2015 and they doubled our wage offer, they sold him 12 months later for a decent fee. I was never really impressed with Simon Murray, he always seemed to run about like a headless chicken and he never really set the heather on fire previously in the Premiership with Dundee United, Dundee, or Hibs. However, he is probably enjoying his best season. It'll be interesting to see how our rebuild goes from this point on.

Thoroughly enjoyed that win. I didn't have a clear view of the handball incident but when checking scores etc at half time it was considered harsh by reports on BBC even viewing the match thread over on P&B several posters suggested the same but having seen the footage back it was a penalty all day long, don't know why it took so long to arrive at that decision though. We were probably lucky with the chalked-off equaliser as it looked more of a coming together but Anderson, Brandon and the wee banjo-looking guy from Deliverance were all quite cute with the barging into our players just as they were about to win headers. Bair was unlucky with his acrobatic effort but Nicholsons drive was tremendous, probably well further out but it was reminiscent of Seedorf at Tynecastle. Theo's run and header was another excellent finish and it was great to see Casey notch another. The only moan is that Livi scored with the first effort they had on target which has happened numerous times this year but it was nice finish tbf. It wouldn't surprise me to see Nouble play for another Premiership side.
-
That first half an hour or so against Livi at Fir Park back at the end of December was tremendous (minus the goal they scored of course), we have a great record against them at Fir Park. I think they have only beaten us twice none of which has came in the past six seasons that they have spent in the top flight. Mathematically they aren't down yet, they enjoyed a positive result against County last week and I'm sure they will fancy there chances against us.
-
A reckless challenge is a yellow. Never meant to harm the guy, won the ball then accidentally caught the player in the balls.
-
Apparently the ball was headed straight out by an Aberdeen player but they were awarded the corner. Obviously we need to defend the resultant set piece much better but the officials have been quite generous to them in each and every fixture this season. I can't wait to get this season in the bin, hopefully VAR follows as well.
-
Still feeling scunnered from the last outing a few weeks ago, hopefully VAR doesn't need to stick its neb in today. St Midden have been quite fortunate against us this season due to a mixture of poor ref decisions and us missing guilt edge chances. It would be most welcome to get the three points today. They have been quite generous to teams in the bottom half the last few months.
-
Yeah exactly, when Aberdeen signed Gallagher on a pre contract they declined our request to shhhhh. As did St Midden with O'Hara. Hearts raiding other clubs in the league for players is interesting. It always felt like Spittal would be away anyway due to his form for us.
-
Blair Spittal heading to Hearts.
-
Yeah, that was the same game where Craig Gordon escaped a second yellow for bringing down Moult for a pen not to mention penalising Solholm for a last-minute handball with his arm by his side, but Sibbick got away with the same earlier. It's so frustrating, I made peace with our refs being pish but with VAR added to the mix I'm finding my love of football dwindling rapidly.
-
It's nice to see the club call it out, Kettlewell had mentioned on Saturday that he was fed up talking to Crawford Allan about the inconsistencies and he couldn't be bothered seeking a further explanation. What an absolute copout though ruling the goal out for being a deliberate handball. I'm surprised Obika's goal versus Celtic never fell foul to that when it brushed the shoulder and went in, ironically Steven McLean was the ref that day, just as well he wasn't brought to the monitor. Sadly I think we are stuck with VAR, I've moaned about inconsistent decisions on other threads but even thinking back to when the cameras were turned off before a game was finished which missed key incidents, or the time they used a camera at the Cooper side for an offside call because the south end as the operator nipped away. I just can't see much improvement no matter how much they try to convince us. Outwith Slattery's offside goal vs Hearts earlier in the season have there been any other decisions we have been given that have had us being thankful for VAR?
-
Willie's comments should have been, that there was no need to call me over to the monitor Steven as per the rules it's only the scorer we can penalise for handling it. But this is Scottish refs we are talking about, I mean surely after Kettlewell's complaint about the similar incident against County earlier in the season that refs take interest in these types of things. It's just mad to think that if the ball brushed a defender's bicep instead there would not have even been a mention of a penalty. I'm actually feeling quite scunnered by VAR tbh, I know it's the arseholes using it that's to blame but the inconsistencies and looking for any small thing to penalise someone is massively frustrating. I know I'm getting all precious about it but if it continues down the same path I can see myself opting to do something different on a Saturday afternoon.
