P.S. Does your shirt have a huge "HH" collar or do you just have a tiny heid.... nibbles Anyhow, it sounds unanimously like The Mullet, MUST STAY. Que Fir Park rockin' in Euro tie with 10,000 C.U. Jimmy's.

Well done Stuart McCall. However, if this is going to be like a new start and a new team. Do us all a favour and ditch the MULLET.

Motherwell 2 Rangers 2 League Cup 1975
Catweazles ring piece replied to bobbybingo's topic in Club Chat
Forgot about that Pie. But remember it resounding around the whole Motherwell end. Petted lip twat. Also remember it all kicking off after the match, especially after a few double-deckers getting panned in Dalziel Avenue. Forgot also about a the majorettes and the half time chants. Seemed ok as a 14-15 year old mind you -
Motherwell 2 Rangers 2 League Cup 1975
Catweazles ring piece replied to bobbybingo's topic in Club Chat
The defense and midfield did kick lumps out them - no doubts about it. But our front line were superb back then. Funnily enough just mentioned the other week how Higgonbotham? reminded me of Vic Davidson with his running style and ability to go past players? St. Mirren had a brilliant support that day and the place was heaving, but so did we. Got crushed umpteen times before moving from the choir, to behind the goals and eventually onto a floodlight at the Taggarts End. Fergie and everyone from St Mirren moaned for ages about it and still harbour a grudge to this day...lol. Anyway..................Lets all do "The Pettigrew" G.I.R.U.Y. -
Man City interested in Randolph?

I mentioned this a while back, about Motherwell adopting a Scotland style set up after Kenny Black was away on international duty. But, I'm convinced that the formations and tactics are set up in a similar vein to Levein's/Scottish tactical blue print. God help us, if this is the case. S.M. needs to get players back in their proper positions and perhaps adopt a 4-4-2 formation, just to get confidence back. He can work formations once we have a bit of stability back. But without doubt, we need; T.H. right back. N.L. left midfield. Someone supporting Higdon, whether Murphy, Ojamma or McHugh. I just hope we're not persevering with the notion that it'll eventually come good, when to most fans it's just not working. Here's hoping for an upturn on recent results.

We haven't replaced Steve Jennings and we're still tinkering with players and systems that don't work. The End.

Fergies team were being lauded as something special as well you know weeyin. It was match of the day. It was on t.v. and was attended by 27000 plus fans. The point was about mentality.

Reading between the lines, MFC knew the tension surrounding this match (mainly sevco fans and media) and tried to dampen any flashpoint. Unfortunately, it created a hugely downbeat scenario and was further emphasized by S.M. pre-match comments. If we had performed well and won, everything would have been forgotten quickly. The problem is, MFC generated the negativity at the point when Well fans were actively recruiting supporters to attend Ibrox. The fact that the players/manager didn't perform on the night gives the impression that the negativity impacted the moral or effort given by the team. (or bottlers) Either way, it distracted our focus in a cash generating match and as such questions are being asked.
-
Why put out the strange Club statement before this match. And why put out a negative match analysis prior to the game. Two huge mistakes made, amplified by a honking performance. Your correct about statements about poor games, but, under these circumstances a reflective comment would have clarified some issues.

I've come to the conclusion, that our players don't have the will, that the likes of McCulloch possessed on Wednesday night. Prepared to stretch the boundaries of the rules, fair or foul. I'll go back to Willie McLean's team with a mixture of skill, flair and brute force. We still talk about the Well v St Mirren match played in the 70's. Well we kicked the shyte out of them that day. Pick anybody from McVie, Watson, Millar, McLaren and they would go toe to toe with anyone. Did Colin O'Neil think twice about doing Peter Grant. Not intimidated in the slightest and who won 2-0 that day? That's the missing link in our team. We're too nice. While our players had arms round McCulloch being pally, he was booting and elbowing the crap out of our young players, without any response from our senior players. If Higdon had elbowed one of their young kids in the face, you could bet L.M. and co would have been surrounding the ref looking for red cards etc.. I just hope the players show the fight today, that was missing on Wednesday. Come on the Well!

What a total shambles of a performance. No heart, no desire and no idea. We were talked out of it before a ball was kicked and we contributed to it ourselves - Motherwell F.C. Firstly the Club statement and then the managers pre-match assessments. Totally scunnered!
-
I might be wrong on this one, but the one I'm thinking off, we were 0-2 down to Killie at half time. Enter Jim O'rourke at the start of the 2nd half and the match flips with him ramming in 4 goals. Brilliant match. Texaco cup matches were the bollox. Great atmosphere and magical nights. If only!!!!

At this minute in time, Jamie Murphy doesn't seem to believe in his undoubted ability. I can't remember how many times yesterday he was one on one in the channel and checked back with a sideways or back pass. I think it's time to play him in a more structured position, rather than this free role to go deeper to try and create and support Higgy - it seems to be hindering him and leads to a lack of confidence, as well as weakening the teams attacking options. Anyway, S.M. has a headache for the upcoming games - Hateley or Kerr at right back? Hateley or Ramsden in central midfield? Murphy or Ojamma supporting Higdon? Whatever! M.F.C. top of the league - happy days.
-
Ojamma turned this game yesterday. Direct and pacy and they couldn't cope. It was obvious he was desperate to get on during his warm up. We urgently need a replacement for Jennings, as Hately isn't a midfielder. Strangely enough, when he ended up at R.B. he was superb in the tackle and in distribution. Anyway, well done to the team for sticking at it yesterday and thought the support were brilliant yesterday. Great 3 points.

Randolph came up to F.P. after some persuasion from his agent. The plan, was firstly getting regular first team football and secondly to make his name known. Money wasn't high on his agenda for his Motherwell F.C. contract. I'm afraid Darren Randolph has outgrown Motherwell F.C. and will end up at a bigger team on a hugely increased wage. I would love to see him staying, but, don't think we have a snowball in hells chance of this happening. If he goes, we can hopefully cash in on the next window. If not, he'll pick and choose from the teams on offer. Top keeper!!!!! I'll certainly wish him well wherever he ends up. Great result today - well done lads.

Said exactly the same thing last night. Que player bids to be now accepted.
-
Last night we played a reasonable team that were comfortable on the ball and tactically aware. We on the other hand were neither. As a supporter last night, I was gutted with our performance, collectively and individually. Poor, poor performance, END OF.

Totally agree with your thoughts Kmcalpin. However, you don't have to quote every comment I made on the way back from Kirkcaldy last night

Definitely like the idea about donations towards "Club 12" matches and totally agree with the last part of Dave's post. If the club could set up a pay in fund, I'm sure many would donate. Something along the lines of the "12th man" - a link between club 12 revenue losses and the support from Well fans. Just a thought!! Either that, or more groups amalgamate to join the well society.

I guess it's easy to make assumptions to what's happening. I know alarm bells were ringing for me when we didn't initially distance ourselves from that document. But, as you say Frazzle, the truth will come out. Slightly worrying developments but lets wait for further information.

Spl,sfl.sfa Joint Statement On Reconstruction
Catweazles ring piece replied to Brazilian's topic in Club Chat
Our silence had started to look incriminating, so well done Flow for clarifying a few points. Maybe, just maybe, when we sweep these clowns (Regan, Doncaster etc) out of positions of authority and replace them with honest members who only want the best for Scottish football, will we make inroads to our national game. Heads should ROLL for this! -
Straight Question(S) To The Board Of Mfc Re. Sfl Proposal
Catweazles ring piece replied to Steve Diggle's topic in Club Chat
Tick Tock Sounds like Motherwell FC are potentially utilising, "The 5th Amendment." Hope to god this isn't the case.
