  1. I think they're an excellent appointment. Bring in your own players to get us through to the summer and we'll review the position then. Not, have 3 games and we'll bring someone in the last week of January
  2. No Bond villian, he's a businessman, allegedly. We can talk about John writing off the debt he was owed. But in fairness if i left skidmarks splashed across the toilet, i'd be embarrassed enough to clean it up. Some people's heads have been turned the last two years or so, i do believe he has made two excellent appointments in McGhee and Gannon. Ending Malpas's reign, was a masterstroke. However, his penny pinching with regards to our pitch could of cost us points and turned us into a joke. His negligence over Gannon's contract is quite shocking. Whilst we bumped Gannon off and it cost us nothing, we ran the risk of any club coming in at any time and taking him without a penny in compensation. In these post setanta times, every penny is a prisoner and six months down the line and still no signature? C'mon! Bringing in Jack and Victor i feel is a good move. But bring them in till the end of the season. Review it in the summer, Craig Brown could well be the new messiah. He may appeal to the folk who like football played the Scottish way. Why give him three games and bring in a manager towards the end, if not after, the transfer window shuts?? Its comedy. Here's a suggestion John. Once you've taken a few snaps of the baby chimps in Taronga Zoo and had a wee scoot about Darling harbour..maybe you would like to head back to Motherwell and find our club a manager.
  3. The cooper is the least of my worries. Jim Gannon should in no way shape or form have went near the players or training ground until he'd signed a contract. It's business basics. To have someone that can walk out on the club for nothing, 6 months down the line, is nothing short of scandalous and a testament to John Boyle's business sense.
  4. From Australia...its the best place for you.
  5. JIM GANNON and Peter Ward outlined their future plans for Motherwell at a festive dinner with Fir Park chairman John Boyle. Little did they know it would be a last supper - and it's left a bitter taste. Gannon and trusted No2 Ward enjoyed the hospitality of their chairman and - they were convinced - his full support. It's why they felt shafted when the axe fell on them. They had been in charge at Fir Park without contracts and were fully expecting to take training yesterday afternoon. But fateful phone calls abruptly changed their plans. Ward, 45, hadn't long settled in his rented Hamilton flat after driving from Manchester when he got the news from Well's general manager Leeann Dempster that his services were no longer requited. He told SunSport: "It was a bolt from the blue. We didn't see it coming. "I don't know what's been going on and I've been trying to get back in touch with Jim. "The chairman's away at the moment and he left it to Leeann Dempster to inform me that they were terminating my employment. "I had travelled up this morning because we were due to train in the afternoon. "It's a shock and very disappointing because I have really enjoyed my time at Motherwell. We had been busy trying to make improvements to the squad. We were getting stuck into the job. "Recent results hadn't been great, we know that, but we weren't too concerned. It's what happens when you have a young team. Some of the kids have been looking tired. "But there have still been encouraging performances and we were looking forward to the second half of the season. "The board had been very supportive and there was no indication of any unhappiness. "In fact, it was only a few weeks ago we went out for a meal with John Boyle and there was nothing negative said. "We met first at John's office and we had been making plans to improve the squad ahead of the January transfer window. "John was, and had been, very supportive. We felt he was behind us. "We had a nice meal and a few drinks. It was a good night. So you can understand why I'm feeling shocked right now." Advertisement Well chairman Boyle accused Gannon of lacking commitment, but Ward insisted: "Jim WAS committed to the club. "As soon as he came in he wanted to get more youths into the team and he was anxious to improve the training facilities. We were all trying to improve the club." While boss Gannon was high profile, making a few enemies, assistant Ward preferred to stay in the background. They worked wonders at Stockport, including a Wembley play-off triumph in 2008. Ward will now return to English football and could reform his partnership with Gannon at Crewe Alexandra. But regardless of his ruthless sacking, he insisted he will still hold warm memories of his stint at Motherwell. He said: "Of course what's happened is very disappointing, but that's football. "I have really enjoyed my experience of the SPL. I think the team gave a good account of themselves in the first half of the season. "But we always knew we had a lot of hard work ahead of us. "Experience told us there was going to be a bad spell during the season. "We haven't been on a good run of results lately, but we were confident that would soon change. "We were working hard on the training ground and it was our hope to get a few signings in. "I'm sad it's come to an end for us, but we move on."
  6. He's a tit, and always will be,
  7. If he's over there, then get on the phone to Ernie Merrick and see if he's bored with Melbourne and fancies a wee jaunt back to scotland
  8. Is there not enough empty spaces at fir park as it is??

    New Manager

    My thoughts exactly
  10. "Ruddy, Lukas...stick around boys, im bringing in this great manager, Derek Adams" "John.....John........Lukas.......Where did they go????"
  11. Signed without a contract...and sacked because he wouldnt sign one. This just about sums up the mickey mouse operation that John Boyle and co run. After two and a half years of pulling the wool over peoples eyes with a couple of pleasing appointments and the reversal of the cooper. It is now clear to see the blinding incompetence that John Boyle runs Motherwell Football Club with. Dear John, do you never learn? We should of suspected something was wrong with the blatant lying in the relaid pitch/drains debacle. But we glanced over that because things were going well. Now we're stood, in the final days of december, 72 hours before the transfer window opens..and more importantly before we lose key members of our first team, managerless. In the summer you, supposedly, held extensive interviews with several individuals. Jim Gannon has been open about his unwillingness to sign a long term contract, a look at his previous club would of alerted you to this. You have chosen to bring him in John over other managers, because quite simply it would not of cost you a penny to bump him off. Whilst Gannon is derided for his long term plans for Motherwell, you sit up in the stands with your short arsed wee suits...obviously with a vacant blank space between your ears! Where is John Boyle's vision for Motherwell? Are you still trying to sell the club off?? Are you still trying to piece together where it all went wrong at Zoom??? I'm sure in time we will find out Jim Gannon's version of events. Jim Gannon has obviously rubbed people up the wrong way, there has to be truth in the rumours with regards to player fall outs. He says what he feels, rightly or wrongly. Many occasions in the last 2 months what he's said is unneccessary. He had a vision. He wanted to offer something different. His promotion of the young guys was refreshing. Some of his signings, excellent. He had his faults like every other manager. He was very naive with the scottsh press. The referee situation was a blight on the club, in the media's eyes anyway. Jim Gannon sat there at the fans forum before the Rangers game and said that while he had been approached he had not been interviewed for other jobs, and his commitment was to Motherwell and John Boyle. If he lied to the fans then it'll reflect very poorly on his character, and certainly alters any legacy he has left at fir park. With regards to players feelings, Craigan inparticular. Craigan has been a wonderful servant for Motherwell, but it took a fresh face to quite clearly see he is totally inadequate on a week to week basis in the SPL. Perhaps one off games for Northern Ireland are different. But yourself and Lasley, whilst great club servants, are the type of players who hold younger players back by holding onto a position you no longer deserve or merit. My fear is now we'll be stuck watching some very boring, Ian McCall, Gordon Chisholm, (Insert any other pish scottish journeyman manager), with some very typical Mark Burchill, Jim Hamilton, Gerry Britton, Dougie Imrie style players. Enjoy!
  12. McGhee publicly spoke about the need to bring in another defender because he couldnt change it amongst the personnel within the club. He also went for any job going, publicly. The apathy that his attitude brought on is clear to see in Mark's second season.
  13. We've also lost to St Johnstone, Falkirk, St Mirren, Hamilton, Kilmarnock on numerous occasions. Last season we lost 16 games..we've currently lost 5 and almost half a season through. We were cruising against St Johnstone first half...we have the ability to win games..its there, right now the confidence is not there, aided by Gannon's needless tinkering. We've done exceptionally well so far this season and exceded expectations. Unfortunatly the last two days on this board is the ensuing result.
  14. Spot on. Infact throughout the McGhee era we were desperate for another centre back, because despite our league placing we conceded needless goals with so called experience players along the back line. Which led to the John Kennedy...Andy...Webster...Anyone with two legs debacle!
  15. Remember Phil by his great goals, leadership and 1991, and get along to the walk 10for10. I think a tribute at club level would of been unneccesary and if the fans wanted to do something they could of. Phil O'Donnell, gone but never forgotten!
  16. It does look like the cameraman's plucked 10 folk bevvying in the hotel next door, threw a motherwell flag in, and there you have the famous albanian ten!
  17. It was for effect...but could also explain why harpercollins knocked back my autobiography??
  18. We've been playing competitive football from the first week in July, had a mish mash of a preseason due to this and demand our players maintain their previous exceptional standard. The majority of our squad should be preparing for their highers never mind playing competitive SPL football. We're left in that position because we had to offload several star players during the summer. Alot of this free cash was eaten up by the good folks at Setanta going bust. We brought in a young manager, who from the beginning told us that it will take us a couple of seasons to develop our squad into challenging for a top 3 finish. We liked this because he had fresh ideas. We slaughter him because he doesnt play by the old Scottish managers PC rules. We enjoyed the ups and downs of European football in the space of a month leaving the rest of our season some what of a damp squib. We made a solid start and were impressed by League 2 players arriving from England and an Everton reserve who couldnt do it at Huddersfield. We're now shocked that these boys arent the Davie Cooper or James McFadden's of the future. Was there a reason they were at that level and do they need alot of time and development??? We're bamboozled why players like Ross Forbes have gone shite. The same Ross Forbes that was lighting up Dumbarton last season. We're wondering what the hell Gannon sees in Yassin. Some of us look at Paul Quinn's own goal at Cardiff today, and remember how pish he was. We question Gannon leaving out Craigan, lasley and other senior players. We see the rationale in days like today. We wonder where all our moneys gone for players and wages, then sit amongst each other, barely 4,000 of us. We talk about must win games...lose it...and still sit sixth in the table. We are the Well!
