Just checked back to when Efford signed in Jan 22. Official website said he was contracted to May 23. Same thing happened with O'Donnell, another year added to his deal but no announcement made by the club as far as I can see.

I'm sure Efford was listed as being out of contract at the end of last season, but the website now says his deal ends May 2024. If it was recently extended you'd have to think he was in Kettlewell's plans at that point, and he got game time in Holland. The interview came across as Efford not believing he's fit and the manager not believing he isn't. Sounded more scunnered than sympathetic.

What was it about his performances for St Johnstone that makes you rate him as worse than hopeless?

Maybe it's just me, but he doesn't seem totally convinced about Efford's injury problems.

As for McCann, he's had successful spells, but he also has 2 relegations on his CV, no managerial experience of the Scottish game and will have worked with a budget way above anything we can come up with. There's little chance he'd sign a short term deal, and if we did go down, would anyone want him hanging around? Kettlewell's a risk, but so is any appointment, and what choice do we have? 'We don't know' isnae an option.
