They surely had to at least see who was available before appointing Hammell - given his lack of experience - so I'd cut them some slack on that. I hope he wasn't given the job out of necessity, but either way, we needed a manager sooner rather than later, as you say. And either way, we all support him and hope it works out, because it's obvious he cares about the club as well as his own career.

If no one decent was interested in the job, it's not really a risk, it's a necessity. Unless they deliberately ignored someone they considered more capable.

Might be nothing earth shattering or new, but it doesn't seem to be the way Alexander was running things. He got results - for a while - but there appears to have been little thought for where the club was going after he inevitably left. That's how we've ended up with this shit show Hammell's inherited. The fact he understands it can't continue, and wants to change how the club moves forward, is surely a positive. Whether he succeeds or not, we're all about to find out. Personally, I'm not really interested in hearing the club's views on the appointment. Every board tells you they have the right guy, every time they hire a new manager, so what more would you expect to hear, beyond the statement they issued?

You don't need to hold your breath, it was explained on the previous page, and Hammell spoke about it in his interview. As for him not being 'forceful or confident enough' to press the case for his youngsters with the previous regime, how do you know he didn't? Alexander picked the first team, not Hammell.

You don't exactly need to read between the lines to see it wasn't just the support who wanted Alexander out of the club.

Feels like a jobs for the boys appointment, but he'll obviously get plenty of support to begin with. Kerr was making the right noises about going forward (in both senses) the other night. Gonnae be a huge job actually achieving it, though.

Depends how far back into the good old days you go, I suppose. By 'golden handshake' do you mean paying up a contract agreed and signed by the club at the time of hiring?

He's going after him on Tuesday then, not Monday. Anything's possible, but he knows a large section of the support wanted Robinson out the last time, so this would be ludicrous.

The Robinson stuff could very easily just be lazy reporting, but the fact it's not just one source, and they're claiming we'll make a move for him on Monday does make you wonder if there's more to it. As others said, it fits in with our old pals ethos, which I assume comes straight from Burrows.

I realise that. It was sarcasm, given the 'Fuck off Kelly, ya dick' comment. The manager's gone. If the fans fancy chasing one of our few decent players out too, fair enough, but would it not be better to take a breather and see what their reaction on the park is first?
