Aye, a striker who's never scored many goals anywhere is the last thing we need. Real quality's almost impossible for us to bring in, but if Alexander has a plan to fill positions with players who can actually play there, then play to their strengths, rather than just buy up a load of guys in a seemingly random fashion, that'll hopefully make the difference.

2 game unbeaten run, newly prolific striker and sent Hamilton to the bottom. More than anything, signs of a backbone.
-
Make your mind up Craigan: stop trying to play football, just get the ball away/get your foot on the ball and try to make some passes.
-
Unless you know of a player in Scotland who's banging them in for our rivals and could be prised away, you're looking at England or abroad. Big transfer fee, big wage and a desire to sign for a team stuck at the arse end of the SPL. Wire in with suggestions.
-
Very true. But if you want someone who has a good goal scoring record at the moment, not 3, 4, 5 years ago, we're gonnae have to find a guy playing at a pretty low level. Then you're taking a slightly different punt.

And here come more worms....

Problem is, they don't want to be seen to punish a player who has/had a potentially life threatening illness. My work, I get hit by an elephant falling out the sky, it's an absence. Get covid, it's not.
-
Got to hope, but I'm unconvinced we'll move far without a good few signings. Whatever happens, the 'nowhere near relegation' patter was clearly wide of the mark.
-
Aye, but how many have had 2 games postponed because of those breaches, and would've added a third, had they got their way? Were St Mirren told by their health board they couldn't play, or was that their own decision? They can celebrate this as a victory for 'justice' and 'common sense' all they want. It's actually a victory for lackadaisical bastards with a distinct lack of common sense sticking 2 fingers up at the rules that were put in place to let them work when thousands of others were not afforded that privilege. It smacks of the same pish Celtic tried to pull. Instead of holding their hands up, it's 'could've happened anywhere/to anyone' and 'poor wee us, we're the real victims here'. And no, I don't want the points, I'd rather Motherwell skelped the pair of yous, fair and square.
-
St Mirren fans greetin about Celtic last night anaw. Fuckin blowtorch wouldn't leave a mark. Zero point in making any effort to follow the rules, given the folk who make them end up ignoring them.
-
They're reminding clubs not to over celebrate goals. How much more compliant could we be?

The voices.

Ok. We're obviously in no position to buy anyone currently playing at a top club, so if you want someone who's had a career near the top, you're almost certainly left with 2 options: guys who are now past it, or 'problem' players, and I doubt now's the time to take that gamble. The ideal signing is a Tommy Coyne, but how often does that happen for any team?
-
Can you be sure he's not? An unknown quantity is more exciting, and that's great when he's Louis Moult, but how many others have turned out to be duff? Stuart, not Damien.
-
The focus is on whether St Mirren or Kilmarnock could field stronger teams if the games get played. What if Gallagher, O'Donnell and Campbell leave this month? Two full and one U21 international players missing because those 2 couldn't fulfil their fixtures and the SPFL won't let us fulfil ours.
-
Much better performance first half, better attitude whole game, at least trying to get the win at the death. Problems persist of a bench that weakens us, whoever comes on, and falling away later in the game. The players just don't look fit enough, which isn't helped by the understandable reluctance to bring subs on. Things that can hopefully be remedied over the next few weeks.
-
Fair to say some will never be up to it. And why are we so unfit?
-
Interesting to see folk discussing whether we have actually signed bad players, or they're no that bad, it's just Stephen Robinson couldn't do anything to get a decent performance out of them. Either way, he doesn't leave smelling of roses. Hopefully it's the latter for a few of them.
-
The question was whether you'd accept Tommy Wright as manager if he could deliver a cup win. Obviously no guarantee of that, and obviously you wouldn't. If he does get the job he probably won't be the popular choice, but I doubt you'll find many folk who'd rather see us relegated than have him at Fir Park.
-
Does that include the season they won the Scottish Cup?

Holding a scarf or a bottle of Bucky?

It's a done deal, accordion to the Record.
-
Probably sees his chance, now or never. Leaky defence and a manager on borrowed time who won't be given millions to shore it up. Dare say I'd feel the same if it was me and Motherwell were sniffing about. If he wants to stay and fight for us, great, if no, cheerio. Wonder if the Mars bar will be in fun size installments.

Gary Neville on sacking Alexander at Salford: "The first manager that left the club was third in the league, the second who left the club had won promotion and Graham was in a really good position in the league, but we always change at a point where we’re doing quite well." Neville apparently happy with results but disappointed in performances, wanted to change their style of play. Some comments from fans about the football not being attractive enough and too many draws. Does that put Alexander in the same bracket as Wright?

We will have our cake and eat it, as a clueless bastard once said.
