  1. It would make it harder. This reminds me of VAR when most people just wanted it through without actually thinking about the inevitable consequences. Last season Hearts took 7 points vs 4 points against Celtic. That's the way to win the league. If you expand to 18 teams you will end up with probably 10 teams about the level St Johnstone and Killie are at currently plus clubs like ourselves would have less money to bring in players due to smaller crowds and the TV money being reduced and split an extra 6 ways. The average league game would be far easier for Celtic and Rangers than it currently is. Personally I think anyone who would rather play Raith Rovers or Morton over the Old Firm, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen is off their nut. Look at our final two home matches last season. Fir Park was jumping for 4th matches versus Hearts and Celtic, absolutely no one was wishing we were playing Arbroath instead.
  2. Guy gets two assists and a goal in two games and this the reaction. Very strange. Thankfully I doubt many people on here would be capable of giving him a slap or a kick in the arse without medical supervision.
  3. It seems like Caldwell is marking his own homework here. The perception is now that the stand is unsafe and the matchday experience has been degraded. A condescending email that dismisses genuine concerns about safety is miles short of the required response. The Society board should get involved to resolve the situation.
  4. It's a very strange statement. He's completely ignored the feedback of people sitting in the seats regarding safety and matchday experience. He says the club tested them but that means nothing. What were the findings of the tests? It actually reminds me of Willie Collum saying he was perfectly comfortable with the handball penalty against Celtic but refusing to say whether it was a clear and obvious handball. They seem like similar sorts of characters with similar levels of competence. Caldwell badly needs reigned in.
  5. What kind of research? The bit of land is everyone is looking at up at Ravenscraig has sat empty for close to 30 years now. There has to be a possibility that the reason nothing has ever been built on it is because the land is contaminated. Have you researched that? It's impossible to for anyone to accurately estimate price because the cost of materials and equipment is massively variable due to global instability and inflation. No one in 2019 could have predicted the cost of anything in 2027. Delivering a new main stand will be a very challenging project for the club. Delivering a stadium on a brownfield site requiring utilities, access roads, civil engineering and landscaping is far more complex. The club's non football operations are very simple we sell tickets, take our collectively agreed SPFL money and run a very small commercial operation. A single project that costs multiple times our turnover with no ceiling on cost and is beyond the expertise of anyone employed or involved with the club is an incredible amount of risk to take on. It's the future of our club, not an episode of Grand Designs.
  6. I'm confident the club have the competence to agree a lease with DHSWMT that protects our interests. Other people might disagree but if we can't make Dalziel Park work for us it's hard to imagine that we would have the competence to acquire land and build a new training ground from scratch.
  7. What are you concerned about?
  8. Building a clubhouse and upgrading the training pitches doesn't involve selling club assets or taking on debt. It also doesn't determine 'where our primary operations will be based' because our primary operation is playing matches at Fir Park. We need better training facilities. Working with Dalziel War Memorial Trust to upgrade Dalziel Park is by far the best option. Buying land (where?) and building a completely new facility would cost a fortune and take years. I've also been reading your posts about a new stadium and you are clearly massively underestimating how much a completely new stadium would cost never mind a new stadium and combined training facility.
  9. That's roughly 5 million civilians killed by bombing. Sounds like a great guy.
  10. Aye but they are the ones playing dress up outside the ground.
  11. Halliday definitely makes himself bigger with the position of his arm. It's a strange one because the law doesn't account for players closing their eyes, turning their back and trying to get out the way of the ball.'
  12. It's getting a bit harder to take it seriously now the youngest WW2 veterans are mid 90s.
  13. Clearly that was never the intention and the plan was to use them as Trojan horses to get them into the league then have them in the Championship filled with non Scottish players.
  14. Ewan Wilson has been impressive playing every minute of every game. I've not really heard much about how Ferrie, Wells and Ross are doing on loan but I still feel that we would better off having these players here to focus on strength and conditioning and learning to play at our level rather than part time football with loads of extra travelling.
  15. Btw putting the away fans in the top tier is tinpot stuff and pathetic from a fan owned club.
  16. Obika, Wilkinson, Shaw, Stama, Watt, Moses, Robinson and Stuparevic. Kettlewell really does have an eye for a player.
  17. Between the manager who is Steve Clarke with a barnet, the fact we have no decent strikers and have to play Halliday and Davor in midfield then there's not much chance of seeing much football. 34% at home to St Johnstone is criminal. It feels a bit like McCall's last full season where we were dire but still managed to finish second on pure grit.
  18. Dunfermline made a halftime sub of Joe Chalmers coming on for Craig Clay. I used to have nightmares about that.
  19. No ref was going to let Balmer away with that. He's just not very bright.
  20. Halliday is completely done. He was blowing out his arse after 20 mins. Get him a half season ticket for Ibrox, a Celtic one for Fat Tony and a wee Saturday job somewhere for Davor and we'll be looking a lot better going forward.
  21. Casey or Balmer. I went for Casey due to the tackle near the end.
  22. It wasn't for a foul throw. Balmer stole 10 yards when the ref spoke to Miller and the defender. The ref then told Balmer to get back and Balmer acknowledged him then just threw it in without moving back. You can tell Balmer is Irish.
  23. Two good goals and a wee bit of fitba. Brilliant.
