  1. find out if nicky law has any cousins that fancy playing professional football?
  2. i thought clarkson's all round performance was impressive last week. the way he held the ball up and brought other players into play is something we have been lacking.

    Aberdeen

you have to wonder what his team mates think about him. it can't be good for morale.
  4. just do we have done in the past. advertise the job, pick the best candidate.
  5. the past three performances at perth have been amongst the worst i've ever seen so i'd be avoiding this one regardless. it's sad to say but we're the team others will be looking forward to playing at the moment. it's up to the team to step up and change that.
  6. a manager who thinks josh law is a football player. a manager who thinks frazer kerr can play wide right (and left). a manager who still rates bob mchugh enough to put him on. aye we need a new manager.
  7. another nothing performance. the fact that we look out of place in the weakest of top league in the history of scottish football is depressing. watching kerr, angol and law trying to create was awful. kerr is a defender asked to a job he isn't cut out for, angol has shown potential in the past but his confidence is gone and law is never a player at this level. lasley seems to have escaped the criticism he deserves over the last few weeks. he has had the pish ripped out him four games in a row and it's clear his legs have gone. giving him a two year contract was a massive mistake.
  8. if we take three doings in a row on TV he'll quit.
  9. league position isn't the defining factor. it comes down to assesing our squad and how we are performing in relation to resources our rivals have. we are where we are because stuart mccall has made a series of bad recruitment decisions and when you combine that with his easy come, easy go managerial attitude and lack of tactical nous it has left us in the shit. if we were in a relegation battle because our budget had cut dramatically or because other teams have improved significantly then the focus wouldn't be on the manager but that's not the case.
  10. the fact that we settled for a choice between either of the two of them is the mindset has put us firmly in a relegation battle.
  11. socialism between the owners of the teams to guarantee them a profit.
  12. in 2011/12 jennings and lasley were more than capable of competing in centre mid as a pair, the move to 4-5-1 looked to me to be a ploy to make nicky law the focal point of the team rather than have him on out the wing. even when we evetually switched back to 4-4-2 law got to play wherever he wanted.
  13. we've won two out of 13 games all season. we've played well a handful of times in 2014. we have been comprehensively outplayed by accies, thistle and dundee in our past three games despite their limited squads. we have three extremely difficult televised games coming up which could very well see us become a hibs-esque national laughing stock. i'm at a loss as to how things could be much worse than they actually are at the moment.
  14. there are five saturdays in january plus the new year's day fixtures so it would be a minimum of 6 anyway. 7 in a month is a lot but the international breaks probably make it a necessity. on the plus side there is no scottish cup so there won't be any inverurie/arbroath style multiple postponements.
  15. the scottish cup draw is in two weeks time and we'll be playing our 4th round tie on the 29th of november. we have 3 games before we stop for the next international break so it would make sense to me make the decision by then.
  16. Agreed. Shaun made a lot of mistakes last season but he made them because he was stepping up and trying to lead and set an example. Credit to everyone who heads up on friday.
  17. There's about 100 full time clubs in the UK and far more men that want to be managers than jobs. With McGhee, Gannon, Brown and McCall the club were able to identify what we needed and bring in the right candidate If we have to find a new manager it's an opportunity not a problem.
  18. I've just watched McCall's interview on Youtube. Apart from a couple of mentions of the fact that they are working "wednesday, thursday, friday" and talking about "maybe getting a 0-0 or 1-0" he was saying all the right things and by the look of him he realises the hole we're in. It was night and day from his previous post match interviews which were completely delusional. If he wants to be the Motherwell manager he needs to up his own effort and demand a lot more from the players.
  19. The fittest McFadden was with us was when he re-signed after training but not playing with Sunderland for 6 months. He obviously builds up his fitness but playing competitive games gives him niggles and wear and tear that brings that down.
  20. Clarkson made it look easy today. He's no pace but he played with his head up, found space, held the ball up and brought his team mates into the attack. I don't see any of our forward players doing what he did today.
  21. Every single player at the club was either signed or given an extended contract by McCall.
  22. Honest question. How much more time? If we take our form from the last three games into the three friday night games then we are going to struggle. After that it's the managerless international break, ICT away and then the Scottish Cup. Avoiding relegation is the priority for us but the Scottish Cup is the only opportunity we have to do something positive this season.
  23. That's how I feel as well. McCall's league finishes in the past few season are immense but if it comes down to giving McCall a fair crack or doing what's best for the club then there is only one choice. A club with our resources needs to recognise that we need a long term plan for the structure of the club in the board room, in the community and with youth development but that the coaching staff and players are transitory and we need to get as much as we can out of them without any sentiment. McLean to come in and do a short term job isn't a bad idea, it could be similar to Brown fixing Gannon's mess. Long term we need someone who will set standards but also be able to bring in players from England or abroad.
  24. When I was heading home I heard Tam Cowan saying on OTB that he would only criticise Stuart McCall if we got relegated this season. To me that seemed like a crazy statement, getting relegated would put the future of the club at risk so the prospect of giving the manager enough leeway that we could end up in the Championship makes no sense to me. McCall has done brilliantly in the league but that's been and gone and if we finish 11th or 12th two second places in 2012/13 and 2013/14 aren't going to help us, bigger and more succesful clubs than us have been relegated and are paying for it. In the last three games we've lost we've conceded 10 goals and scored 2 against teams that are full of guys who wouldn't have got a look in the SPL 3 or 4 years ago. The board have said that our budget hasn't been cut but anyone can see that the quality in our squad has decreased massively. If you were to guess who are our top earners i'd say Lasley, Hammell, McManus, Sutton, Ramsden,Neilsen and Ainsworth. Six guys who are on the decline and one guy who is a waster who has been booted out a dozen clubs. The question is can McCall turn it around. For me he has answered the question by making it clear he doesn't think he can improve the team on the training ground because he doesn't believe fucking off for a week with Scotland makes any difference to our form. We need a new manager that can come in, give the complacent element of our squad a fright, get the players fit, put a few of them on the scales every day and make it clear that Motherwell is a full time job.
