to finish second we obviously need to take 4 more points than aberdeen which sounds tricky but we only need one more than them in the next four games to keep it alive on the final day which would be an achievement in itself. we only managed 2 out of 15 points after getting to the scottish cup final so if mcinnes and mcnamara follow mccall's example of playing a different defence in each of the final fixtures we could be in with a chance.

to be fair to him he was only back so far because lasley, leitch and vigurs were out on their feet. His work rate is superb but he's not much of a defender.

the 2nd hibs goal as well. i said earlier in the thread he should be left up the park, teams are picking on him at set pieces. every team we come up against knows that if they put the ball on the six yard line the keeper won't go near it so we have 3 or 4 guys trying to attack that area every time we are defending a corner. if hammell's reaction to nielsen at the goal is anything to go by the players are as frustrated as we are.

are you kidding on? he should have caught the corner for their opener and i don't think he did very well at the third either although it's difficult to say from so far away. the penalty looked savable as well. they could have been out of sight early on because he won't come off his line at corners.

they didn't dominate the middle of the park, neither team played well enough to say they dominated anything.

out fought in the second half again, it's been happening a lot recently. we'll get drubbed in the top six unless we improve greatly. ainsworth just seemed to be getting into the game when he got subbed and vigurs looked like he was carrying a knock but played the 90 mins despite not moving very well. our defending from corners is - to borrow a phrase - like juggling soot. every team knows all they have to do is put the ball in the six yard box and they will be able to attack the ball on the run. sutton is losing his man at near enough every corner and should be left up the park.

we can beat aberdeen up there, they are a far better match up for us than united. if aberdeen are in the scottish cup final we'd be favourites imo.

lasley and hammell being suspended for the celtic game rather than a more winnable game is a bonus for us. playing st johnstone and inverness at fir park are the two most winnable fixtures so it's good we got that. it's possible that 6 points from those two games will be all we need to claim 3rd.

craggs at least had the trademark crossfielder. reid has hardly found a motherwell player since he has been here and bangs it the way he is facing the majority of the time. he's a good defender but limited on the ball.

reid is the worst passer of the ball i've seen play for us since fitzpatrick. he likes a charge forward but it's only because he can't get rid of the ball to a team mate.

i think moore is one of the injuries, he hurt his ribs again before he went off on saturday. he is right footed so playing right mid should be ok if he can play on the left.

it'll be a 3-5-2 surely. mccall can't think kerr is a midfielder?

if st johnstone win the scottish cup tommy wright should be in with a shout considering how average his squad is.

what exactly was the point of bringing frazer kerr on to play right mid? if you want to win the game bring on erwin or thomas. if you want to close it out put him at right back. he offers nothing as a right midfielder yet he has played there as much as anywhere. we got out of jail with eremenko trying to be too clever and then shot ourselves in the foot again. reid could barely get back across the half way line with the eremenko chance yet he charged up the park again 30 seconds later.

would you keep him on the same money he is on at the moment?

i just don't rate him as a player any more. he's too slow and he is finising like franny jeffers these days. he is supposedly the highest paid player at the club on 3 and a half grand a week, he is performing to that level. i would rather we used the money to get a younger, fitter attacking player in who we might develop for a fee.

faddy is in the paper saying he wants a new deal. i don't think he deserves it but we will no doubt give him another year. hopefully the club remember how he messed us around last summer and play hardball over his wages.

we've got a big lump of a goalscorer. i miss murphy, law, hateley, jennings and craigan.

grinding out wins is the one thing we're very good at.

we conceded 51 over the course of last season and have already conceded 50 this season. we are far worse to watch going forward this season and against all odds we have got much worse defensively as well.
