  1. he wasn't at fir park at that time.
  2. nielsen would be a gamble but you have to assume that mccall would have asked lasley and hammell and maybe even meldrum for their opinions on him and i doubt they want to be playing in front of a muppet in goals. hopefully mcghee hasn't had any input, he knows heehaw about goalies. vigurs is on the wait and see list with lawson. both of them definitely have some positive attributes but neither of them impressed when i saw them in the flesh or live on tv last season and i don't put too much stock in highlights (see ross forbes). hopefully they are here to compete with and zfa and carswell rather than be mccall's protected faves, playing for us in an attacking formation is very different to playing in front of the yokels up there in adams' anti football 4-5-1. i'm still hoping we sign a couple (or more) attacking players who could actually improve the team rather than guys who wouldn't have been a first pick going back to the days of malpas..
  3. miller would be a decent signing and would be a good partner for mchugh and moore who are penalty box players. he's quite similar in build to erwin so he might bring him on as well. miller's move to boro for £600,000 (where he never scored) is one of the dodgiest transfer deals ever. strachan basically giving his mate mcghee steve gibson's money for nothing just as he did when he paid £1.2m for virgo when he was at celtic and mcghee at brighton. lawell was obviously wise to it by the time mcghee was at fir park or we might have been able to sell paul quinn to the tims for a couple of million.
  4. top 6, league cup semi, scottish cup final and winning through a couple of rounds in europe? sounds good.
  5. i don't think we have any youngsters waiting in the wings. we have murray, erwin and moore but we have cover in their positions with mchugh and cummins. zfa could feature more but beyond that there isn't much. hopefully we are keeping our money for players that are worth it like randolph and law. no one else has improved their squad yet so no need to worry.
  6. get him signed EASY LIONEL!!!!!!
  7. in the period martinez was at wigan they had a net spend of £1.2m. during the same time pullis's net spend was £69.5m. i think the fact they spent so much without acquiring many sell-able assets is what done for him.
  8. i think arfield has been linked to mk dons. david wotherspoon released by hibs today. he was very good for scotland u21s but seems to have struggled recently.
  9. you might sign an extended contract to get an extra £500 a week for the next two years but anyone in hutchy's situation with half a brain would let their contract run down and get a big signing on fee and wage increase down south next summer. also if i was hutchy i'd be looking at reynolds and murphy and thinking i'd rather pick a club next summer than just go to whoever offers the club a bit of money.
  10. he is not going to accept an increase in his wages now if it hinders his chance of getting a much bigger increase down the line. hutchy is a cert to be playing in england by august 2014 whether we sell him or he leaves for free in 12 months. taking into account henrik's extra ciricular trip to poland i doubt he will be signing another contract either.
  11. you are living in cloud cuckoo land. even if we released daley we would still have to pay him the full amount of his contract. there is no guarantee a club would pay 400k for nicky law. why would hutchy sign an extension when he is probably looking to treble his wages and get a fat signing on fee when he leaves here?
  12. because expecting to use other people's money to fund the losses they are running up is unfair. i can't say i'm impressed by paying for faddy and knocking back six figure offers for ojamaa whilst running a six figure lost and relieving the society of over a third of the money raised. why couldn't they stick to the model outlined at meetings of short term interest free loans from the society rather than just taking the money from the society?
  13. if the club don't spend the money which seems highly umlikely given our financial problems. The society's own charter states that the primary goal of the society is to obtain a the controlling interest in the club. It looks at the moment like the society exists to give dempster, weir, mcmahon and wilson money to run the club without putting their hands in their pockets. Could someone from the club or society give us an estimate if how much money has to be raised to take control? And as onthefringes said communication from the chairman has been non existent since his election. Do we have another martin rose on our hands.
  14. i'm not saying that vigurs would be a terrible signing or that it's impossible that he might be a very good one just that he hasn't done much in his career so far yet we have some people acting like it would be a major coup to get him to sign. iain vigurs would be fortunate to sign for motherwell not the other way around.
  15. he's that good he has played the majority of his football at sfl1 level. would people seriously be jumping for joy if we are starting half ross county's midfield next season?
  16. i think you are seriously over rating iain vigurs.
  17. a school trip to a lech poznan game?
  18. the problems are 1. If the club spend all the society money during their loss makin seasons what will the society use to run the club when it takes over 2. When this was discussed on the society thread everyone including on the ball posters like andy p and weeyin thot the shares were gifted to the fans. How did we all get this so wrong?
  19. paying 150,000 for 6% values a club that no one wants to buy and will never make anyone a profit at 2.5m. I was under the impression that boyle gifted his shares to the fans. It has now been confirmed that he gifted them to the current board and they intend to sell them gradually to the society to underwritw their running of the club. Where does this leave fan ownership? Most people thought that it was a case of raising 1.5m then taking control and using those funds as a safety net. Now it looks like it will cost over 1m to take control of the club which either means another million or so is still needed to provide the cash reserve or the society takes over without a pot to piss in which would be suicide. The society board seem to be doing whatever the board tells them. Giving away a 1/3 of the money raised for 6% is madness never mind accepting the boards valuation of the club without any negogiation.
  20. an enjoyable afternoon slightly marred by accies being confirmed safe despite us beating them. took a bit of the shine off ad i was hoping for some revenge after the farce at christmas. slane came on as a sub that day as well
  21. seriously? sign a shite left back to play right back?
  22. delighted harkins has joined up with st mirren. they are made for each other in the bottom six.
  23. i liked athens as well. as onthefringes says the area with all the bars and restaurants down near the acropolis was ideal and well priced for food and drink, the rooftop bar lots of well fans were in was superb. we found a decent beach as well with loungers, parasols and a bird bringing over cold beer. there were a few dodgy characters about but you get that in barcelona, paris and elsewhere it's part and parcel of a big city. the distance between the centre and the stadium isn't any different than from the centre of london to wembley.
