Levein is the only who went from a part time club straight to relative success and it was at a club he was a club legend at which was also merrily spending it's way to oblivion (hearts were 20m in debt before vlad took over) Managing Alloa and managing motherwell are two totally different jobs. We wouldn't go for a junior manager but to be honest I don't think there is much difference between part time SFL clubs and junior teams.

i think on the whole they do. there might be a couple of stars at each club making more than the manager but i don't think it's common.

any examples in the past 25 years? sfl play offs to europa league is definitely an unprecedented jump but i'm struggling to think of anyone going from part time football to a top six team without any experience coaching full time players.

it makes sense that the manager will be making the same as the top earning players at most clubs. it would seriously undermine them if they weren't.

unless he can be in two places at once he's not been down watching english games whilst alloa have been playing on saturdays or playing/training on midweek nights. it would be odd if as well as running alloa, scouting their opposition and keeping an eye on potential signings he has also been keeping close tabs on leagues which have no relevance to his current job. it would also be odd if agents were in regular contact with him considering that he has no money to sign full time players.

he has had no reason professionally to study it. alloa are almost exclusively part time scottish players with a few young scottish loans thrown in. considering the amount of effort that is put into managing a part time club i have my doubts whether he was spending much time identifying players he is never going to sign or line up against.

a new manager will have to sign at least 6 players immediately and people want someone who has never managed or coached a full time professional team or been involved with signing professional players? shotts bon accord won the scottish junior cup last season, we might as well go for their manager.

i'm just giving my opinion. he has played a few great games, some average ones and and a few awful ones. i honestly don't think he has done enough to get clubs down south interested considering his age and injury record, what would scouts have thought on sunday? if he signs for us and repeats the form he has shown already i'll be happy enough as i said before he is still capable of being a match winner on a regular basis in this league.

he has done well and come up with some game changing moments but he hasn't been a stand out the way leigh griffiths has in a very poor league and he clearly has some fitness issues. celtic won't be interested, no epl sides will be sides will interested and i don't think any championship sides will be making him a priority. if he signs and is ready to go for preseason training ideal. but if he wants to keep his options open should we set aside a decent size chunk of our small budget aside and go into europe and the start of the season short handed? i can't believe anyone would think that is a good idea.

i don't think faddy has done enough with us over the past few months to have many clubs chasing after him. he definitely wasn't playing for a move yesterday. it'll be down to whether he is willing to commit to us now or wait til the end of the window to maximise his options. if he isn't signed up by the time preseason starts we should forget about him.

hollis is 5 foot 10 and is terrible at kicking the ball. there is no way he will be starting in our first game next season.
