  1. it's one of those ones where the keeper jumps up and backwards and ends up off balance and missing the ball. pernis is 6 ft 3" he could have easily got a glove on it without leaving the ground. still a cracking strike though.
  2. the best bit is the guy talking up the new killie left back who has played 70 mins of senior football which he wouldn't have seen unless he was at tannadice 25 minutes after the celtic game finished on sunday. i wonder what he likes about him
  3. i thought the keeper should saved it. a lot of power but it was down the middle.
  4. we should ask for £3m. it's pocket change to 'arry!

i forgot about the penalty. still none from open play though. we've only got 2 people in our squad who have ever scored more than 4 goals in a season. we need another striker.
  6. if you look at it that way we should have scored about 10.

lasley - 15 goals in around 300 career games hammell - 3 goals for us in 386 games hateley - 4 goals in 94 games. none from open play jenno - 3 goals in 77 games for us. all headers humphrey - 5 goals in 170 odd senior appearances law - 12 goals in 162 appearances if we get 15 out of the six of them we'll be doing well. we need another striker.
  8. it'll be a tricky game. i don't think killie are going to be anywhere as bad as the experts are predicting, shiels seems to know what he doing in the transfer market and clancy, kelly, dayton and o'leary are all good players. on the other hand we should be very confident. with the pace we have on the counter playing away from home should suit us and i don't think we need to lose any sleep over ben hutchinson. hopefully we can go down there, get the three points and enjoy at least another week of letting old firm mongos know who is top of the league.
  9. to be fair gary keown made a few good points about jamie getting more attention from english clubs than scottish (remember he was shunned from the ypoty list last season) and he called levein out for including maguire ahead of him. i didn't like the bit about 'would cost less than half the price of goodwillie' bit. nae chance.

we scored 55 goals in 2005/06 but conceded 61. if we can keep our habit of keeping clean sheets going then more goals are winners rather than counting for f all, getting beat 3-2 does nothing for you. since the start of 2009 we've had 33 clean sheets in 96 league games which is immense. i'd like to see us get 15 this season. only having two recognised strikers is a bit of a worry though. whenever we've had a good season recently it's because we've had 3 strikers in double figures. 2010/11 - sutton, murphy, blackman 2009/10 - sutton, murphy, jutkiewicz 2008/09 - porter, clarkson, sutton 2007/08 - porter, clarkson, mccormack 2006/07 - mcdonald, foran 2005/06 - mcdonald, hamilton, foran i don't think we can depend on law, humphrey, jenno or las to chip in with too many and it's a lot to ask of mchugh or smith. i still hope to see us add another striker (or two if jamie goes)
  11. i only saw the u19s once last season but josh watt looked a very good prospect in the cup tie against stirling. a pacy right winger who looked as though he could play with both feet, he scored one and crossed for another in the game i was at. postiejim is probably the man in the know about the youths.
  12. good to see us getting our first clean sheet on the board as well. you cannae beat having three points in the bag and looking forward to reading every match report you can get your hands on. it's nice to have a bit of optimism around, bring on killie.
  13. the end section was terrific yesterday, the KEITH drum chant was top drawer having a singing section in the middle would be good for atmosphere but it wouldn't work due to people sitting on either side not being able to see by standers.

    Hammell

hammell and lasley scoring in the same game jim gannon's second worst nightmare
  15. not tomorrow mate but the hearts game in a fortnight is on live so you can look forward to that. steelmenonline will sort you out for highlights though
  16. big dirk never moved that fast when he was playing for us.
  17. aye if the ordinary fans are the ones putting in all the capital then we should have control of the board. no taxation without representation.
  18. democracy won't really prevail if 1500+ fans vote in two representatives and the only end up with 25% of the fans on the board. the old board structure was fair enough, boyle was the one who put in money and took the financial risk so he was entitled to have whoever he wanted on it. in the new set up are derek weir or leeann dempster going to be doing that? i very much doubt it, so why should they and others get guaranteed seats?
  19. st mirren's new board structure will be a third appointed by fans, a third appointed by corporate sponsors and a third by community initiatives. looking at this it seems it will depend on whether the club are trying to be a bonafide co-op society or a 'benefit of the community' one. when boyle's video came out and 'the one member one, one vote' part was highlighted i assumed it would be a bonafide type but after reading what derek weir said in the wishaw press i have a bad feeling it will be the other one. unless 50% of the board is fan appointed and there is some sort of egm trigger i won't be buying in. in the wishaw press weir said that doesn't sound promising and if they think fans are going to shell out cash for a couple of martin rose types to sit on the board they are mistaken.
  20. i can't believe they didn't include murphy's mazy run after time.
  21. playing for your country isn't a job. craggs played 55 games last season, he's right to cut back.
  22. the motivation would surely be to attempt to ensure that the club stays on a level footing and hopefully moves forward in years to come. i don't agree that the standard is gettting worse, compared to 5 or 10 years ago i'm much happier with the way things are now.
  23. his record of caps gained with us is unlikely ever to beaten. most international appearances by a motherwell player and most european appearances. legend
  24. since they pumped us at home under malpas five years ago we've played them 6 times at home winning 4 and drawing 2. i don't think they'll do as well as last season but i still think they are dangerous. rooney will be a massive loss but they signed doran last week and foran, sutherland, ross and hayes are all tricky players.
