  1. just jump on a bus with all the celtic fans
  2. what games? as i remember it it was hughes who was the driving force in the three vital wins over hibs, celtic and aberdeeen that secured europe for us. i honestly think that people who wouldn't take him are mental. it would bring murphy on leaps and bounds as he would be able to concentrate on getting in dangerous areas rather than taking the ball off hammell 40 yards out and trying to make somthing happen from nothing.
  3. i can't believe there is even a debate about this. some of hughes' performances were total class. think about winning at celtic park, the brazil and real madrid wins at easter road, the three draws against the h**s at fir park, him and clarky putting our season back on track against hibs on a mud heap, the 2nd half in the snow at tynecastle, wrapping up europe against the sheep, even the bottom six wins at paisley and hamilton and most of all the total football wins over the sheep and united in dec 07. the guy is only 28 and when he is on top of his game he had the sort of quality we very rarely see in a motherwell top. i also think that humphrey, hateley and especially murphy would benefit from playing with him and it might even bring on carswell and mchugh tae.
  4. i'd be delighted to get hughes back. he was pulling the strings when we were playing the best fitba i've ever seen us play so i think if we get him back we can at least be confident we'll be decent to watch next season. he struggled in the first half of his second season but i thought he came back strongly in the second half from when we kicked off the unbeaten run.
  5. the tims would be up in arms if their jakey pin up was sent out to another spl club. it'll be paddy's usual season. 4000 snout, 600 pints, 12 sub appearances, 5 starts and half a bar of soap.
  6. scott cuthbert is shite. he didn't just relegated from league one for nothing. it's incredible how swindon managed to get relegated with 5 former celtic youth superstars in their squad.
  7. we've always had better strikers than sutton! clarky, porter, mcdonald, mcfadden, goodman, spencer, mcculloch, coyle, coyne and arnott all superior players in my well supporting career. good move bringing in higdon. we pretty much know what we're going to get and he gives us an option to go long if need be. it'll be a test for mccall to keep him fit and motivated but if he is i think he will compliment humphrey and murphy well. we've had 3 strikers in double figures for each of the past 4 seasons and i'm sure higdon will manage at least that. our midfielders always seem to have an aversion to shooting but the flipside of that is that we create plenty for the forward line. i also think we'll be worrying some teams from set plays next season if we're sending up higdon, hutchy and saunders to meet hateley's dead balls.
  8. you would love it if he came back. you've cleary missed him
  9. he played for queens park amatuers in the scottish final against eddlewood before joining us so i don't think he was ever properly signed with the third division mob.
  10. gerard murphy - the year of the disapearnaces they managed to half the protestant population of the RoI in about 20 years. sounds like ethnic cleansing to me. our you can read about the kingsmill massacre where they stopped a van full of catholics and protestants going home from nightshift and proceeded to let the catholics go and murder the protestants. seems a bit sectarian if you ask me.
  11. big tel. 3 semis, a final and two top six finishes. 02/03 - we were lucky to have a club and were always going to finish bottom. at least we had some great highs beating hearts 6-1 and doing the old firm double. the scottish run that season was a belter as well. 03/04 - faddy leaves in august. pearo leaves in january. doesn't matter we get the top six anyway. there was a brilliant feel good factor that season topped off by claret and amber day at tynecastle. 04/05 - we played some cracking football, got the top six and the cis final. the final was a disapointment but we bounced back and got skippy sunday. 05/06 - bottom six but still a pretty good season with all the high scoring games at the start and a cis semi against celtic. it peetered out a bit after that but it was still a decent season. for me that beats mcghee's one brilliant season hands down.
  12. if we do have a few decent wages to give out a striker and a left mid should be the priority. hateley was poor in centremid this season but he was much better in the games he played with las than with jenno. hopefully after a decent summer break tom will find his form again.
  13. for me the biggest disapointment was the fannying about with the defence at the end of the season. we started eight different combinations of back 4 in our final eight games, that's ridiculous. we haven't really recovered from losing reynolds and we've the amount of goals we have shipped in 2011 compared to 2010 has been shocking. taking hammell out of the defence was a massive mistake. mccall can send out as many emails as he wants but the truth is he made an arse of it. the atmosphere was pretty pish as well. the next time we make a final we'd be better only taking 7000 tickets.
  14. the bulk of the shareholding will be in the hands of the people in the mutual society.
  15. thats not how it will work. boyle won't be directly selling his shares. the mutual company will retain the shareholding and we will buy into that. there will be a set price for a buy in and if 500 people choose to buy in there will 500 shares and 500 equal votes. if 1000 people choose to buy in then it will have 1000 shares and 1000 equal votes. i don't think they will be looking to raise a great deal of capital with this. the club will continue to be self sufficient.
  16. i think it will be closer to 100 than 1000. i think they will be looking to get a couple of thousand people to buy in which will make it easier for the board to operate than if it was only a few hundred.
  17. it's happening so we better try and make it work.
  18. he says on the video that the mutualzation process is under way already and there's no reason not believe that is a controlling interest. the current board seem to be in agreement that this is the way forward and i seriously doubt that anyone actually wants to buy the shares off boyle. it's all about how much it costs to buy and how many people do it. when we find out that we'll have a better idea how it will work.
  19. i think there are about 300 shareholders but boyle owns the vast majority of the shares. looking at the list of shareholders a great deal of them look as though they are people who have inherited them and i personally recognise the names of a few local people who i wouldn't even have thought were fans nevermind shareholders. bolye owns around 200,000 shares which is well over 90%, a clear controlling interest. he says on the video on the official that his shares will be controlled by a mutualized company which people will be able to buy into in and the company will operate on a one person, one vote basis. going by that then we should see a very democratic set up controlling the club. the big question is how much it will cost to buy in as that will determine how many people end up as owners. it seems a bit mental but it looks like a totally democratic set up and the board will be appointed by the shareholders in the mutual company. i'm not sure if it will be an effective way to run an spl club but it will be extremely interesting.

don't worry once we get our fan ownership we can have a vote on banning him for life
  21. the display was quality. unfortunately the bits of card made more noise than a lot of the people in our end.
  22. hateley holiding in a midfield 3 is an entirely different player to playing in a duo. his performances at hampden in the cis and in the final game before the split at tynecastle were immense, he should have been playing that role on saturday. the comment about commons is also a strange one. every celtic fan online seemed fairly certain mulgrew would be on the left and commons the right. gunnings at full back was just the wrong choice, the guy switches off far too often. you look at the games at killie, at tannadice in the league and cup, at ibrox and at home to rangers. he cost us a lot of goals just through day dreaming defending. as everyone has said we didn't use the ball at all well and the game passed murphy by. that is clearly connected to hammell moving from full back to midfield, when he is playing at lb he is generally the guy who brings the ball out and starts attacks. gunning is decent at bombing on but hasn't shown that he is much cop at building play. we actually played 8 different defensive combos in our final 8 matches which is unbelievable. when we have had defensive success it has been due to consistency in selection and there was zero of during the run in (we have also missed reynolds massively but that's maybe for another day) SS SHU SC MR - hearts a TH SHU SC SHM - semi SS SHU SC GG - hearts a MR SC GG SH - rangers h TH SHU GG MR - united a SS SHU SC SHM - killie h SS SHU GG SHM - celtic a TH SHU SC GG - final mccall made an arse of the big game, he's not the first manager to do so. big tel did it the last time we got to a final, tommy mclean put a half fit o'neill on the bench which could easily have backfired, at the fa cup final the other week stoke paid for playing an unfit etherington.
  23. murphy played on the right that day.
  24. i really hate it when i get dragged out the house at gunpoint, trasnported to a game then forced hand over my cash to get in. there really should be a choice in whether you go or not.
