the gowpocalypse must end soon. we need to bin the jonah and get back to winning ways
-
mcghee, brown and gannon all had varying positive achievements as managers. butcher, malpas and davies had a connection with the club. mcleish and black were complete blank slates. even harri kampman had a glowing euro victory on his record. mccall was absolutely honking at bradford. played 133, won 46, lost 52 drawn 35. they were the bookies favourites to get promoted at the beginning of his first two season and they never even made the playoff.
-
we've appointed a guy that lost more games than he won in league two even although he had one of the top budgets in the division. that's a shocking record and is why he was out the game, he's only got the job up here due to his name value and he should be very, very grateful for that. bearing in that in mind he and craig should be told in no uncertain terms to avoid playing up to the old firm stereotypes the media will be dieing to pull out. i don't want to hear about walter, ally, nine in a row or any other pish like that. we're doing him a favour giving him a chance, if he wants respect and time from the fans he has to know it's a two way street.
-
it was being discussed on radio scotland the other week and a couple of them said that they understood that he would take it. i wouldn't say he was throwing money about willy nilly at aberdeen either. looking at their team that finished 3rd who are the big signings? jamie smith, barry nicholson, stevie lovell? consider how much hearts and even hibs spent that season.
-
good luck to mccall and we need to wait and see what he can do but.. we've went for a guy who failed badly at bradford in his only job when we could have had jimmy calderwood who has 8 consecutive top six finishes on his resume plus a scottish cup final and uefa cup last 32. i get the feeling JB might have been more interested in enhancing his reputation for looking outside the usual suspects rather than the best candidate possible.
-
that sums it up. he's had the three hardest games possible, chances are we would have lost them anyway. you would have hoped that he would have had the confidence to chase the shirkers in the squad out the team but he clearly didn't. i've heard that he's disillusionsed as to why the players haven't reacted for him but letting rangers pound us while we play a 4-1-5 then starting gow up front on own his tonight and giving him the 90 again is not going to inspire the troops.
-
youngy is a good well fan but so is jim frame and there's a chance a he might have done better with the team. the 2nd half against rangers was a shambles and starting with gow up front on his own tonight was shocking, it took the guy 40 mins to pass the ball to a motherwell never mind hold the ball up. if jenno is getting investigated for getting himself sent off then someone should be checking if youngy is getting backhanders from gow's people.

when the o'donnell video started i thought it would be mainly celtic clips with a bit of motherwell sliced in. turns out i gave the scum too much credit and it was all clips of him playing for celtic with the only sight of motherwell being phil scoring a couple of goals against us. fair enough it was there home game but any tribute should have been for phil o'donnell the man not phil o'donnell the celtic player. as usual the ambulance chasers use any tradegy to suit their purposes. three years ago they managed to get their game called off because they had injuries/suspensions even though only 2 or 3 celtic players knew phil while dundee united had to play. the next week they marched their full 25 man squad (including the likes of non english speaking nakamura and evander sno) into the church in hamilton even although spl clubs had been asked to limit numbers and many people who knew phil were left outside. a few months later they organised a charity game at their ground rather than fir park and after they had monopolised that they announced half the proceeds would go to their own charity. tonight one team went onto the park in tribute to phil with black armbands on yet when it came to half time entertaiment they did their usual victim act and only celtic got a look in. complete and utter scumbags and the sooner they get out of scottish football the better.

the best player in the league and he's only started 6 league games in 18 months! nae bother.
-
randolph saunders craigan reynolds hammell humphrey fitzy lasley hateley murphy sutton blackman's heart isn't in it (heard a rumour he asked not to play on sunday) and the gowpocalypse must end. apart from that we don't have many other options, signing charalmbous and casagolda rather than a decent midfielder has really shafted us. celitc are shite though and we've nothing to lose. accies/dundee/ict are the big games, anything we get tomorrow approaching a half decent performance is a bonus.
-
today was shite but.... the reason it probably felt so bad was because that's the first time we've been two nil down domestically this season. we've turned a poor december around in january in each of the last two seasons, with the fixtures we have i think we can do it again. no need to panic.
-
you can bet your bottom dollar he'll be on the main stand side this time

the club's annual tv and radio income is roughly equal to the entire income from gates receipts from a season. even if we lose 20 thousand patg attendes a season due to tv it's still more than paying it's way without even considering the effect coverage has on sponsorship. the last accounts said that media income was 32% of our turnover.
-
i agree that the bookies/media have been out of order. however i'd say the most likely outcome is... jenno has decided to get himself sent off so he can get his bad wisdom tooth out. someone in liverpool has heard about that idea and bet a red and there you go. did no one else get alarm bells set off by painkillers/operation chat?
-
it doesn't. the only way it would work would be if you just rebranded everything as the sfa but still had all the different bodies operating the way they are just now. in your streamlined body who would get a say in matters only concerning the spl clubs? where would the highland league clubs be governed from? would it be hampden? should the same people be running men's and women's football?
-
both of them are in their fourth jobs and have walked out on clubs which gave them a great opportunity to go rivals. stubbs should be a non starter. fuck letting an ex old firm player use our club to see how they get on as a manager. i'd rather have calderwood.
-
his only association with scottish football is as a celtic player. add that to the fact he's got no managerial track record and i don't think he'd get much leeway from the fans.
-
ict has been a sucess but it had the bonus if bringing league football to inverness, it was a completely new start with a new ground. i remember thinking i would chuck it when the 'lanarkshire united' stories were being banded about and i'm sure amalgamating clubs would result in many other fans doing the same.
-
should we amalgamate with accies then?
-
i know, it's a pain in the arse. it kind of sums up this issue though. we've got a lot of people shouting about needing change without really knowing what we have at the moment or what improvements they would like to see. it isn't the sfa/spl/sfa that are holding scottish football back, we have have problems that can't be solved by restructuring (small population, no money, talent drain to english leagues, old firm dominance). i'm sure that improvements could be made to the sfa but casting them as the bogey man is an easy way to get cheap applause and stir up the traditional scottish self loathing and love of a blame culture. there are a number of ways of looking at scottish football that you can judge it as doing quite well by. our per capita attendance is one of the best in europe and going by european achievements we've done far better in the past ten years than other countries our size.
-
i don't know. if i was to say there are too many i'd probably need to know how many there are and have an idea of how many are needed.
-
how many pen pushers are there? so fuck the wee teams? who are clubs like montrose or albion rovers hurting? the people that run them, their players and their fans obviously enjoy what they're doing so why not leave them to it.
-
except from saving a wee bit of money on admin what do people think would actually be achieved by merging the sfl and spl? if there was to be a merger what kind of voting situation would people want to be used in the merged set up, would all 42 clubs have an equal vote on all matters? the clue is in the name, scottish football association. the sfa are the governing body for all the various groups that run football competitions in scotland, merging it all into one would mean that all decisions would be made centrally rather than the east of scotland, spl or highland making their own decisions based on what is best for their clubs. england has almost exactly the same set up as scotland except they have an extra body controlling the senior england team and it doesn't seem to be be causing them too many problems. all that will be achieved by rearranging the governing bodies will be some schadenfruede for people who resent the current system. you hear plenty of talk about the need for reorganisation but very little of what tangible improvement we'd get due to streamlining. rather than constantly shouting we need change i'd be more interested to hear what improvements people want to see. mcleish is a diddy and his report is only good for toilet paper. doncaster and the old firm have presented their plans and it's clear they believe that the strongest senior clubs should be the focus of attention and screw everyone else. we all get annoyed when old firm fans think scottish football exists for them only but the working group our club has been involved with has shown a similar to disrespect to sfl clubs with the idea of making some of them play against b teams and regionalising others without asking. i personally think the sfa should be run in a way that is equally fair to all the leagues in the country and that the leagues should be free to control their own destiny without central interference.
-
why? most people got to watch their own team not the opposition. due to the split we play teams at different frequencies, the celtic game in august and the aberdeen game in september were only the 2nd visit of these clubs in 18 months and it didn't boost the attendance at all. i don't think how often we play teams is a huge factor in attendance. if you look at the problems st mirren and accies have in putting a decent team on the park then you have to conclude that adding another six teams with similar or, more likely, less resources plus cutting the resources of every other team would be madness. more teams in the league would result in more teams playing in the stlye of accies and midden.
-
i'll be massively disapointed if we end up with stubbs, mccall or sutton. they've all done heehaw in management and have nothing going for them except OF name recognition. appointing stubbs would be a recipe for disaster, we'd only ever be a short bad spell away from a maplas style fans revolt. appointing someone the fans are unlikely ever to accept is a terrible idea, you'd be as well bringing mcghee back.
