i thought we'd make a loss but not such a big one. not really anything to worry about though as someone else said in june last year we brought in about £1.3 million from mcghee, clarky and quinn and the wage bill will have been seriously reduced this season.

murphy. he missed the best chance but was far and away the best player on the park.

a lot of folk with strong opinions on this thread based on fuck all. the team got clapped off from most who were there at the end (quite alot) today, those who want to point fingers should put money where their mouth is. we started well had two or three or good chances to score and were well on top. after dixon got sent off it became a bit more even but we had the chance to take control with murph's header and he missed it. we had two goals chopped off the first one i'll have to see but the second one looked like it could have been a pen to us. need to see them again but i hope the refs were right or i'll be gutted. their goals were a set piece, ruddy fucking up and a breakaway where all our defenders went to the left and because hateley was the only one back at the corner no one was covering our right. there were half a dozen incident's that decided the game and we were on the wrong end of all of them, apart from that i thought we played pretty well. we could have done with subs sooner and two wingers when they went to ten men but after this run there's no way we can complain. it also looked like the juke fucked his groin after 30 mins but tried to play on which didn't help us. my main impression of the game is that i hate united, i hate andy webster (he punched murphy in the baws away from play) and i hate levein. they are a bunch of hacking, dirty bastards with nothing going for them except for the fact they've got 20 big strong players and they leave they boot in from the start and try to set a physical tone. they're shite to watch, they cheat from start to finish, they're six million pounds in debt, they made a loss this year and we'll pump them at fir park. your average inbred dundonian might be impressed but anyone with half a brain can see they're a sham.

the transfer window is shut so it's 100% certain they won't play this season. everton will definitely be looking to sell lukas and ruddy this summer before they can leave for free. it'll be interesting to see what happens with these american boys they came from a very low level of football in america, it does make you wonder if moyes signed them as realistic first team players or as a way to promote everton in america along with howard and donovan.
-
i agree with that as well. but i think it's more that some people wouldn't have him back at fir park than the idea that he might come back.

we'd be better investing any spare playing time up front in bob mchugh who plays every game for scotland u19s and has scored a few goals for them in their last qualifiers than in some unknown boy from lancaster town.
-
in his final two seasons he scored 28 goals, won our player of the twice and got a scotland cap and goal. why would we want him back?

Brown: Players' Contract Announcement Imminent
steelboy replied to andrew weston's topic in Club Chat
oh dear anyone else remember megastar? the guy that came on slaughtered clarkson constantly even while he was winning two potys. motherwell maverick seems to be his heir apparent. also. that's worse than 1984's prediction of argentina getting no points at the world cup! -
for me this is the most anticipated game of the season so far, we're coming off the back a great win against hearts playing silky fitba, the results went our way at the weekend, united have a difficult replay tonight and hibs have went into full scale meltdown. things could not be going any better! ofcourse as well fans that immediately arouses suspicions that we're headed for a big fall but there's something about this team that makes me think we're going to be able to see it through to the end of the season and i can definitely see the unbeaten run going right up to at least the split. therefore in this spirit of optimism i'm predicting a two nil win on saturday with a double from the juke. it'll be a difficult game as we're lining up in a similar style to united these days but we've got better quality throughout the team and that should hopefully see us through. ruddy hateley craigan reynolds hammell o'brien jennings lasley murphy juke sutton we've not heard anything from broon or any of the players yet regarding this game which i'm a bit suprised about. i thought we'd have heard something from o'brien about cheltnam or knox about barca or at least broon talking about how great a job peter houston is doing. maybe the silence is a sign they're totally focused on the game. i think everyone is aware that if we get the win we're in the driving seat and all the momentum is with us. i'll be watching united with interest tonight and i'll be hoping that they end up getting beat on pens after a hard 120 minutes and they pick up a few few injuries with a red card for vioelent conduct thrown in.
-
i think it was a lot harder to get sent off back in the old days. i'm a bit too young but i don't think we were winning any fair play awards back in the 70s. i saw a picture of tam forsyth the other day, fuck going in for a fifty/fifty with him!
-
the celtic attendance got given as out as 30,000 yesterday, so with our game being on sky and midweek there will likely be even less mhanks there. hopefully we'll get a decent number of well fans there to make some noise, i've got a good feeling about this game for some reason
-
would it not be that he lives near ayr and he seems to love his fitba. nae chance we'll sign mcmanus or douglas.
-
first game of the season 06/7 was the 2-1 defeat by rangers at fir park when phil scored the equaliser. we played them at celtic park first day 04/5 on a sunday and we got pumped!
-
i wouldn't ask but if the shoe was on the other foot and someone got me in for free i'd definitely get them something to return the favour. it's like if someone drives to an away game they won't ask for petrol money but it's good form to pay for some scran or the parking.
-
anybody i'm getting in for free better get the pies and the pints in
-
you could watch the game at parkhead earlier in the season at certain pubs and online and we still took 400+. the people who are in the habit of going to away matches will go regardless. plus us potentially equalling our best post war unbeaten run versus a shambolic celtic team. probably the most attractive fixture at parkhead for a good few years.
-
do you not think that's maybe to do with your changing attitudes to players as you've got older more than anything else? add to that football fans seem to be harder to please these days i think due to so much football on tv and the 24/7 frenzy that the internet has created. i think the fact you can't sum up what you're looking for shows that it's probably something that doesn't exist. in my eyes corrigan is a legend. we had eight years of total commitment from him taking in various highs and lows and lot of undoubted great performances. if the definition of a legend is someone who's going to remembered and talked about in years to come then corrigan fits the bill. when we're all old (or older) and the talk turns to the turn of the millenium the kaiser is going to be one of the first names to pop up. corrigan, hammell, craigan, clarkson and lasley might not be the most exciting players but i think they all define what motherwell is (and should be) all about: commitment and hard work with the ability to throw in something special. they'll be the guys (along with faddy and phil) that will be remembered from this era at fir park.

if/when it does happen it won't be this season brazilian had me puggled with his link to south lanarkshire builiding equipment but i now realise he probably tried to link to the story on the official about brown training the 19s this week. considering gannon and mcghee were back down south any opportunity and that malpas seemed to resent having to leave tayside it's good to see a manager with such enthusiasm.
-
aye i think any doubts about their age and suitablilty for their posts have been well and truly put to bed. both of them seem to be relishing getting an opportunity out no where and look as if they're keen to make the most of it. it's good to have people in charge who are focused on the club and not their career.
-
we as a club don't get to decide who qualifies for a testimonial it's do with the inland revenue. i also think there are quite strict rules around how it has to be organised. hopefully we'll get stevie signed up for another 3 or 4 years soon and keep on racking up the appearances. Frazzle - what sort of criteria would a player have to meet in your eyes to be considered a legend? what more can a player do than give a decade of solid service?
-
apparently archie is away to teach pep guardiola a few tricks and pa broon is focusing on getting players signed up. keeping themselves busy. they both seem to be enthused by their jobs at fir park and putting 100% commitment in, i'm sure wee craig will be desperate to lead a club into europe for the first time and he'll be doing everything he can to make it happen and make sure we're ready for it if it does.
-
the best keeper at fir park isn't though if it's fraser in goals next season then so be it and we'll have to get behind him, nobody wants to see us losing goals. we'll cross that bridge (and talk on shite about it on here) when we come to it.
-
david obua and callum elliot up front. simples.
-
fraser had an absolute nightmare in the game against rhyll which gannon watched before meeting any of the players. i think first impressions that day might have done for fraser, fitzy and mcgarry in his eyes, they were beyond honking. he's also lucky if he's 6 foot tall which isnae much use.
