  1. only because loovens retrospective red card wasn't added into table by the end of the season, count that in and we were best behaved.
  2. i think we're going to have to start calling craigie broon goldenbaws. everything has went our way since he took over hearts were a sorry lot on saturday, i can't see them catching us at all. add in that united have tough a replay on the wednesday before we head up there next saturday is good news as well.
  3. interesting list, dominated by guys from the ancell babes era and then equal reprsentation to tommy mclean's teams and more recently. The 70s seem undereprsented, maybe due to all the managerial changes? the service we've got from guys from our youth system over the past decade has been amazing. hammell, craigan, lasley, clarkson, reynolds and quinn add up to about 1300 appearances between them.
  4. has anyone got a list of the top 20 players with the most appearances?
  5. the stewards at the gate definitely seemed a bit more personable and polite today.
  6. i can't see us going with two wingers again. i think we might see to hateley at right mid and saunders at full back with humphrey dropping out the team above.
  7. guys like ronaldo, messi and rooney have a very rare talent that millions of people around the world are willing to pay to see in some way or another. how many millions of people regularly watch these players? no one argues that paul mccartney, jk rowling or james cameron shouldn't make milllions so why shouldn't the top footballers get to make the as much as they can from their talents.
  8. if real madrid can generate £400 million a year in turnover does ronaldo not at least deserve 1% or 2% of that considering it's his talent that's creating a lot of the revenue?
  9. this was posted by on P&B by the biggest fitba rules geek in scotland. "It's also interesting to note how many pundits and fans now talk about "thank God the cup runner-up slot has been abolished". It hasn't, by the way, Gordon Smith was twice laughed out of UEFA Council on the issue. This is going to be a major shock for some people, if Dundee/Raith/Ross County or even for that matter Kilmarnock end up qualifying for Europe now." i'd take his word for it.
  10. apparently not. that hibeejibee boy that seems well clued up on p&b said the other day that the cup runners up still get in if the winners have qualified already.
  11. whit? the boy didn't even manage to match what hammell has done this week, did you not see the two goals he set up on saturday?
  12. great. 330 odd appearances trumped by 90 minutes against chris humphrey.
  13. i think the difference between the two can summed be summed up by brown saying "i take responsibility", i can't recall gannon ever putting the blame for anything on himself. it was a bit gannonesque last night. 5 at the back against a team that couldn't score in a brothel, humphrey getting a shot up front. it's never good when you go away from home and realise you're playing for a point, it always seems to happen when it's fucking freezing as well. anyway i have full faith broon will have it sorted for saturday we'll be back to doing what we do well.

    St Mirren

i thought saunders was excellent in both positions he played.
  15. we were very, very lucky to get away with a point. the bbc says 58% possession for us but i don't remember gallacher making a save and st mirren had 4 stick on chances. if we had came away being beat by 2 or 3 we could have had no complaints. at halftime it actually felt as if gannon had sneaked back into the dug out as it was very reminiscent of the cup game. again it was disorganised from back to front: humphrey had no idea how to play as a striker, forbes didn't seem to know who to mark at any time and everyone just seemed to forget that hateley was actually there for the entire first half. we're never going to get anything out of any match unless we put 100% in and it just wasn't there tonight from the manager down. mcglinchey on rather than the juke was the big sign that we weren't bothered about taking three points, lets hope we don't end up regreting it. on the positive side it's a another point on the board and keeps us ticking over and unbeaten. i remember saying similar things after a much more boring 0-0 at love street almost exaclty two years ago and we ended up third. i thought reynolds, ruddy and jenno were good again and the main bright spot was saunders who looked refreshed and ready to contribute to the run in.
  16. just on the ref i thought a few of the decisions our fans got worked up about were correct. the one with forbes about 35-40 near the halfway line was definitely a foul by him even although he got took out. the one with sutton near the end was for a jersey pull which sutton is very fortunate he doesn't get pulled up for more often (like his brother) and the one with jennings and johnston just before half time was never a corner but jennings booted johnston's leg before the ball went out so it should have been a free kick anyway. two he definitely did get wrong were the one with the centrhalf charging into humphrey and the one were the boy jumped at o'brien both in the second half down our end. i think some people are being OTT about his overall performance though. there's no point moaning about the ref when your own boss isn't bothered about winning the game.
  17. i don't think it makes much difference how often we play any team. in october we played st mirren on the saturday and took about 700 then played them again on the wednesday and took double that. it's to do with the importance of the game and how the team are playing. last season the 6th game against st mirren was by far superior to the rest of the games. it's not like your guaranteed to get diminishing returns. the 4th game between blackburn and villa this year was a classic.
  18. not really, the epl is 20 teams but blackburn and aston villa played 7 times in the same period. it's just the luck of the draw in the cups. there's a chance aberdeen might not be scheduled to come back to firpark til 2011 which would mean the vast majority of motherwell fans would have only seen them once in 20 months. does anyone actually believe that would cause a surge in the home support for the fixture?
  19. even if they had a 99.999999% sell on clause they still wouldn't have got any more money.
  20. i don't think we have much to worry about in terms of players getting burned out. reynolds has played every game but he's fit enough to cope no bother. after that tom hateley's next with 31 starts. we should be in good nick for the run in.
  21. i just shout "play two up front" out the motor window.
  22. i'd not normally change a winning team but o'brien had a nightmare yesterday, we'd have been better off with the wee girl taking the pens at halftime on the left. wtf was he doing at the kickoff?! i've not seen anything like that since i was at primary school. i don't think playing two wingers worked very well, jenno and las were constantly going mental at o'brien and humph for not tracking their men and it made us a bit disjointed when we had the ball. it's not ideal but i'd stick coke back in left mid to start with and leave o'brien on the bench. the big dilemma is if the juke is fit enough to play can we leave him out? murphy and sutton both did well but big lukas made the difference when we he came on. i don't think he will be fit enough for tuesday but hopefully it'll be a problem for saturday. ruddy hateley crags reynolds hammell humph lasley jenno coke sutton murphy
  23. i think you're being a bit optimistic assuming they had a tune
