ruddy hateley craigan reynolds hammell humphrey coke jennings o'brien jutkiewicz murphy just gie us a win. any win.
-
i'm guessing he wouldn't excuse the guy that did it and try and pin the blame on someone else that he had a grudge against.
-
it's a terrible idea. how would you distribute the income between the clubs? how would you decide who gets into which away games if a large number of supporters subscribe? how would clubs cope with the reduction in income. there is maybe a bit of scope to reintroduce the reciprocal arrangement we had with other clubs for season tickets but your idea is completely unworkable. btw i hope we are letting hearts fans in for a tenner when we play them at fir park next.

gannon seems like more a cock every time you hear something new about him. always good to be proved right though.
-
is moore's wife not from muirhouse? sounds like a wise woman anyway, anybody who moves to icestation motherwell the now is aff their heid.

obviously i realise that we have to release boys, it's part of the process. my comments were refering to fans greeting that slane was shafting us when the truth is he owes us nothing. when any player's contract runs out we decide whether he's good enough to be offered a new one and if he's not it's don't let the door hit your arse on the way out time and quite rightly no one gives it a second thought. however when the situation is reversed and the balance of power is shifted towards a player in these situations we get relentless greeting from the fans which i don't think is at all justified.
-
what i'm saying is that the moralising on here is a bit hypocritical. no one thinks twice about boys who we let go because we deem them not good enough but when a young player essentially does that to the club people are up in arms.
-
how many boys do we release without a second thought every year because we deem them not good enough? with slane the shoe is on the other foot and i don't see how anyone can complain.
-
teams play 81 homes games in mlb and the germans have a massive population which ensures high attendances and a massive tv contract. it costs about 4 million pounds a year to run motherwell to a fairly austere standard, we're guaranteed 18 home games plus two half cup gates and we have to maximise our income from them. if we want a decent team we have to pay for it, no one else will. away games are expensive but we can always take a bit of solace in the fact that mfc gain more than we pay out every season.
-
i don't get why mcghee is getting flak. dempster and the BoD are involved in contracts it's not as if the manager has the final say on who is offered what (especially at youth level). no one is at fault here, slane would rather play for celtic and now the man who discovered him wants to take him there so he'll go at the first opportunity.
-
i don't think mcghee deserves much blame, chris mccart seems to be the driving force in this. he spoke very highly of slane at the q and a night saying that he's one of the very few exceptional young players in scotland. we should play hardball over the compo and use the examples of the compensation that chelsea have payed middlesborough and leeds for boys they've poached.
-
i'll be disapointed if he goes but i don't think we should demonise the boy. the chance to play for the team he supports (did we not take a local boy from ross county in the same sort of circumstances in the summer?) added to the fact that he'll probably get a big signing on fee and wage which could make a significant difference to his family means it would be a very hard move to knock back.
-
getting giles back fit and in the midfield willl be vital to us turning our form round. if you look ata the games where the team have played well this season it's been the same games where coke has played well (killie, rangers, celtic away, hearts, dundee united).
-
you've obviously no seen his bird.

the guy had clearly had alieniated his own players, the media, the refs, our board and some of the staff inside fir park. in my opinion he was working his ticket so that when the right job came up he'd have been able to jump ship from fir park and blame it on the scottish fitba establishment. boyle sacked him before he got a chance to do this. brown and knox are clearly a short term solution, everyone knows and accepts that.

chut up! train at motherwell at 4 o'clock for a mega boozy day out. mon the 'well!

Gannon Sacked! Motherwell Part Company with Manager
steelboy replied to steelman1991's topic in Club Chat
i don't see the need for the doom and gloom now. we've got a decent core of players at the club and i think we've actually got a better chance of extending the contracts of coke, jennings and hateley without gannon and it whether he's here or not makes no difference to keeping ruddy and juke until the end of the season. the youngsters will get a chance if they're good enough although patience will be required on all fronts, bringing through 7 or 8 young players at the same time will require some balancing. if the players are as happy as is being reported hopefully this will give them a spark going into a run of games that will make or break our season. if we can get a few wins, sort out the defence and build a midfield around slane, jennings, hateley and coke then we'll be in good knick for the run in. -
Gannon Sacked! Motherwell Part Company with Manager

i'm glad to see he's gone but i hope the samaratians are doing double shifts in the motherwell area for those who thought he was the messiah. it was clear from the very start that we had got a man with a huge ego and an extremely high opinion of himself and it's this vanity that has clearly been his downfall. it must have been galling for boyle to see gannon slating everyone in scottish football and ruining the good name of the club while at the same time whoring himself around jobs down south and refusing to commit to motherwell. the guy isn't the tactical genius he likes to think he is and anyone who is out coached by gus mcpherson twice in the space of four days needs to take a look himself. the second st mirren game was particularly horrific, why the hell were we man marking alan johnston who was playing his first game in a year? there were plenty other inexplicable decisions but four times in league games recently we've been in strong positions at half time and gannon's changes have handed the opposition the impetus and ended up costing us points. i don't think gannon was able to handle the change from a 24 team league to a 12 team one. there are no weekends off in the spl, every game is vital and the pressure is always on. i expect he'll head back down to the coca cola leagues with tales of poor scottish players, corrupt refs and despicable journalists. the truth is however that he couldn't handle the pressure up here, was unable to put out a team that consistently looked like it could go out and win a game and made an arse of himself in public. he was handed a great opportunity at motherwell and through his own bloody mindedness has thrown it away. at the q and a last week craig brown and chris mccart told some great stories about motherwell and mentioned legends like st john, mcallister, tom boyd, cooper, phil and faddy amongst others. it was clear that gannon had nothing nothing similar to share as he spent his career bottom feeding in the lower english leagues. two of our ex managers are flying high in the english leagues where he'd love to be, mcleish and davies weren't the most popular managers but they clearly made the most of their opportunity here. for gannon it's back to obscurity and he can start rebuilding the myths that he's a modern football mind who supports young players when in fact he's a control freak who only wants players he can stamp his authority on. -
aye. have you listened to his interview? it's not exactly full of positive thoughts to take forward and improve the team. obviously al b will point out it's 713 days too early but gannon doesn't seem too optimisitc about us getting a result on wednesday.
-
i was very happy at halftime. we battled hard, made a few chances and were deservedly ahead. second half we had changes for no reason again. after their second goal we totally panicked and played as if we were into the 92nd minute which cost us the third goal. we've used 25+ players this year but our manager doesn't think they can do what he wants. i come closer to the conclusion that he might be at the wrong club (in the wrong league)
-
merry xmas to you as well. i'm a total c**t. however i do know a lot about scottish fitba and mfc.
-
al b you're going to have to rexplain that we need to wait until 2012 and remind the ignorant that expecting to be entertained or to compete at any time in the next two years is the sign of a phillistine.

david kelly scored 7 in 21 and although he was right old you could telll he was a bit of a class act. chiba had 40 caps and played at the world cup for for morroco and stood out a mile as a good footballer in a pish motherwell side. i can never understand why his name comes up in threads like these.

i don't think there's been much change in our form it's just been that luck hasn't been with us the way it was earlier in the season. st johnstone - forbes scores a screamer, deuchar misses an empty net. dundee united - dillon goes insane and gifts us a pen, ruddy makes triple save falkirk - we get an OG, arfield's chip looks in all the way but hits the bar. celtic - they miss two free headers accies - another wonder goal and a late equaliser through defending that bad an accies player booted his own teamate. we were very much living on the edge and when you're creating so few chances it doesn't take much to go against you before you're in a spot of bother.
