  1. foran is better than mcgarry. therefore if we can't get anyone better in we should sign him. that should be the attitude taken with any wide/attacking midfield players.
  2. exactly. john boyle gave mcghee 100% backing and i think he'll do the same with gannon. i'd be suprised if he wasn't given a say in clarky staying until xmas. he probably chose to sell clarky so he could build his own team, he seems like an independent minded type of guy. clarky and quinn were great servants and if they can help fund half a dozen new players they'll have done us another turn. imo opinion we need a keeper, a right back, a centrehalf, two midfielders and a striker.
  3. i doubt coach and clarky were huge draws for the average tv viewer. we're at a massive crossroads just now. the make up of our squad has been fairly steady the last few years and now we're going a big change which is obviously making everyone nervous. things look bad just now but you have to believe that there is method to the madness and that selling two players might allow us to bring in 6 or 7. gannon also said on saturday that he would try and talk to stephen hughes and convince him to re-sign. i posted a big doom and gloom thread on the last day of the season but after losing our manger and most of our best players i'm strangely optimistic. nobody would have thought it at the time but going into admin was the probably the best thing that could have happened to us. things don't look the best just now either but it could be as much an opportunity as a setback.
  4. i think gannon is the man for the job, i liked what he had to say about bringing players in and he emphasised that he will give youth a chance. seemed a good guy.
  5. maybe with a top hat on. the guy's 5 ft 11 max.
  6. fraser page craigan reynolds hammell mcgarry lasley fitzpatrick o'brien murphy sutton i don't want to be too negative about a friendly but we looked very rusty although apparently we improved as the game went. micheal fraser isn't the tallest keeper and to be honest i don't see him working out well. also fitzpatrick seems to have spent the last four months he's been out the side in the gym - he's a tank but he seems to have lost some mobility.
  7. we were just shite, no excuses. we were playing against a team who had came up from wales on a bus this morning and 4 of their starting 11 had done a night shift last night. everyone looked very rusty and we'll have to play much better on thrursday. it's a double blow as we'll have lost confidence and llanelli will clearly hear about this result and get a wee spring in their step. the game finished 3-1. i went down the road to watch the lions but appatently ross forbes scored a 30 yard screamer and darren smith hit the bar and had a shot that their keeper made a great save from. we were undone in the first 15 minutes by high balls through the middle. the rhyll manager said that llanelli are a stoke style team who chuck in long shy's at every oppoprtunity. also heard from the motherwell end that the team started today will start thrursday (although i'd rather see dazza, forbes and saunders playing)
  8. to be fair he's just sitting in the wee stand, porteous and craigan looked to be in charge. we were terrible in the first 15 minutes and lost 3 goals, micheal fraser didn't look very clever (or for that matter very tall). played abit better after that but no cutting edge. team. fraser, page, hammell, reynolds, craigan, fitzpatirck, lalsey, mcgarry, o'brien, sutton, murphy.
  9. paul quinn wasn't at the game today and the word is that it's a done deal with cardiff, £350K. cheerio coach.
  10. he might not take the job, he's currently up at dalziel park watching us getting gubbed by rhyll. it was 3 - 0 when i left. bit apprehensive about thursday now. spoke to gannon briefly before the game, he said he has targets identified and that he knows the squad needs strengthened. seems like a sound guy.
  11. we're always going to feel hard done by as soon as any player puts together a consistent run of form bigger clubs with more money will come sniffing around and said player will be off quick as they can. i'd much suffer from players being on an upward trajectory than a downward one though. consider how many of our players have left and moved onto "better" things compared with our rivals - killie, st mirren, dundee united, falkirk aberdeen. we're fortunate enough to have been able to watch better players than the fans of those clubs and while it's sore when they leave surely it's better to have loved and been hurt by faddy, skippy, rossco et al than never have loved at all? i started a thread on the final day of the season gloomily predicting what state our squad would be in a year's time. somehow as well as losing our manager nere enough everything i predicted has happened in a month. we just have to hope a new manager can sign a few gems and that the youths step up, the same things we're always hoping for basically times 5.
  12. if the players train hard, eat properly and don't bevvy they should be fine... shite. loads of players play 50+ games a season. more physically demanding sports such as tennis and cycling have 11 month seasons. and you won't hear anyone going to the world cup moaning about burn out. the way only europe could effect us negatively is if we make the groupstage and have to play loads of midweeks (which would be amazing).

    fucking XXXXL! fat bastards.
  14. there was more but i edited it for reasons of politeness. seriously, hoping we draw 1-1 against a welsh league team at home, what's that all about? if you want to be petty use your flight down to wales to go and put a dug shite through their letterbox but don't root against the 'well.
  15. clarkson should be tucked up in his bed just now. 800K seems a bit more like and if we are punting our assets just now lets hope the club have a plan as to how they and a new manager are going to reinvest the cash and make us a competitive side again.
  16. hope it's not true as well. i also thought the price was a bit low but considering we didn't get much more than that for mcdonald it's probably about right. half a million is about 15% of our total turnover so we probably can't afford to knock bids like that back. pretty sad, davie along with quinn is the only player who has been here all the seasons since we went into admin.
  17. i agree about quinn but gie reynolds a break. clarky and quinn had bigger form drop offs than mark had this season and now we're deperate to keep them. i fully expect reynolds to bounce back as well as they have done in the last two seasons. wee yin - not as simple as that. saunders looks decent but quinn is a threat going forward and a leader on the park, when he leaves he'll be missed.
  18. you get 90 grand for each qualifying round you play in. so if we get by the welsh team that's £180K guaranteed. obviously we've got to pay for hiring the shyberry and trips to wales and albania but hopefully our home gate money (£50-60 thousand?) would cover that.
  19. if we get through the two rounds drawn, we'll make £270,000 in prize money. hopefully that'll be clear profit and the home gate revenue will cover hiring the excellsior and travel. say we make it through three rounds (which will be difficult but not entirely unlikely) come the first day we could have won three or four competitive games and go through to perth buzzing. imo the club have everything to gain and nothing to lose from these games. from my perspective as fan, a game in eight days and a quality trip coming up - bring it on!
  20. it's alright saying that but if we get relegated next season we are up shit creek. we can't afford to lose maybe 7 (porter, buzz, hughes, klimpl and maybe clarky, reynolds and quinn) of our best players from what was already a thin squad. trafficlight - not everyone slated clarky. it's a shame all the old posts got wiped or we could have a right good laugh at what all the regular nostradamus's have had to say about clarky, quinn and buzz.
  21. if they don't turn up to training they shouldn't get their last weeks wages buzz - he had an excellent season - especially the last six months - and should have offers on the table. you'd also imagine that any new manager would be willing to give fraser a chance and spend his budget on other areas. so i doubt we'll see buzz resplendent in pink next season. i'm very sad to see him go, tap man. hughes - got a feeling he's waiting for rangers and now they've got champions league money they're looking at other options. can't see him playing for any other scottish team than us or the h**s, i don't think any other diddy team can offer him much more than he was was on at fir park and playing here suits him personally. he probably has offers down south and abroad it just depends on what his ambitions are. i think there's a chance of him signing if we bring in a manger and some players who show we're meaning business next season. really hope we sign him as he allows us to play fitba on the deck. mclean - suprised he looks like leaving but i don't think he'll be missed much if he does go. probably values himself higher than we do after all his injuries. i don't think we'll miss him anyway, he looks impressive 90% of the time then loses his man and costs us a goal. i'd rather see saunders, hutchison and page get a chance than break the bank to sign him. klimpl - would be a good signing but isn't worth the money. i'd imagine his wage demands would be high and the danish club will be looking for something. provided us with dig when we needed it but if you put his best run up against lasley's first 11 games then wee keith comes out ahead. keith was playing out his skin when others were poor, when maros came in quinn, crags, o'brien , porter and hughes had all found a bit of form. cheerio maros.
  22. if we get stung two years in a row announcing friendly's that won't happen the club will look like complete tits.
  23. whoever wrote this is a retard.
  24. they must think they can only break even at the bigger stadium if they can pull a few thousand locals in as well as a decent travelling support, it would be daft for a wee club like that to risk losing money. anyway i'm sure everyone who goes down will see the game, there must have been 3000+ in nancy and no one seemed to be looking for tickets. these things always work out.
