  1. the infamous lazio flag. burn broomfield is probably strolling about holland with it the now.
  2. whoever gets it we need to get behind them. and that even goes for folk in america no bad vibes! whoever it is in the dug out two weeks tomorrow will be getting a good reception from me. although i only waited 160 minutes to shout maplas must go.
  3. apparently you cannae get a bet on staunton anymore either now.
  4. we've just had a phonecall at the house from someone (who definitely doesn't post on here) with good contacts inside fir park saying it's going to be staunton. i remain sceptical but i wouldn't rule it out.
  5. aye the cardboard cut outs will be right up for it. last time a motherwell manager made his debut there things did not go well. micheal fraser better not get chipped from the halfway line. some decent memories there as well. obviously the scottish cup game but also spencer's solo 30 yarder.
  6. all indicators point to him being a shite manager but having a manager called stan appeals to me. we could maybe bring him in a dream team with ron atkison. we don't have any black players so it should be cool.
  7. joe ledley isn't a striker. ross gets stuck out on the wing as well. i only mentioned scotland and hunt because they were better than average spl players who had better seasons in that league than faddy. he's never a midfielder he just get stuck out there because he doesn't have the athelticism to play up front in england. he's got the same problems jamie murphy has at the moment only jamie is 19 and faddy is 26. since scott mcdonald left he's scored more goals, won more medals and played in more european games than faddy has in his entire career. he's a motherwell legend and a scotland legend but in english football he's done nothing. if he doesn't succeed in the premiership this season he should try and get a move to one of the OF just for the opportunity to show what he can do.
  8. well if someone said it on a forum...... everytime i saw birmingham last season they were gash. the times i saw faddy playing he didn't stand out as being a cut above in the same way ebanks-blake, joe ledley or even rossco did. only scoring 4 goals in the championship says it all. noel hunt and jason scotland are banging them in that league. a wee check on soccerbase shows that in the six seasons since he left the ark he's started 85 league games. birmingham have just signed a 6 million quid ecoudarian who seems like a similar type of player, our james could be looking at another season of sitting on the bench.
  9. the only positive thing you can say about faddy's club career is that he's made a fortune out the game. he's got another chance to prove himself in the premiership this season but everytime i saw him playing in the championship last season he was distinctly average. i honestly believe if he'd stayed with us, scored 20-30 goals in the spl then went down south as an established goal scorer/ central striker he'd have fared a lot better.
  10. you're clearly starting the campaign just cause you want comps to every match when you get back from hicksville usa.
  11. he walked out on NI during a qualifying campaign. what kind of arsehole does that? oh aye walter smith. we want someone more not less loyal than mcghee. plus he was gash at fulham.
  12. the difference is hibs are in a far better negotiating position than we are in now (and a million times better than we were in 2003). and faddy wanted to leave. when the transfer window was almost shut he went in to see butcher and told him he wanted to move asap.
  13. don't think so. larsson scored two hat tricks in a row then scored four against us in the no goram 1-7 game (i'm still raging at that!). tam cowan had said he'd chop his left baw off if larsson got a hat trick against us but then claimed he didn't have to cause he scored 4 not 3.
  14. some good fixtures. if we get a good start against st j and killie we'll hopefully take a good crowd up to visit mr mcghee in abereen. h*n.s at fir park midweek is always good. we have a good record playing them at night midweek. two trips to edinburgh in december, the second one on dec 30th should be a belter. celtic at home in december as well, hopefully it'll be a three o'clock kick off (i love floodlights) accies at fir park on jan 2 should be a belter as well. then the scottish cup the week after.
  15. i agree with everything ya beezer says but i'd add that selling our best player is hardly likely to entice any ambitous managers to fir park. the only way i'd sell him is if a big offer came in, £1m plus, and all the money could be used to for a new manager to bring in 3 or 4 good players. for me the ideal scenario is that clarky plays one more season for us bangs in 20 goals gets us back into europe again and then leaves to get paid a fortune down south. it'd probably be in his best interest as well, especially if you look at mcfadden who probably left too early and has had a very mediocre club career and compare him to mcdonald who waited (or was forced to wait) longer and is benefiting from it now. i also expect jamie murphy to move up a level next season, he's a good finisher and if he is given a chance through the middle i could see him hitting double figures.
  16. i'm worried about managers thinking that than sky sports.
  17. it's better just to be patient now, even if we have to wait a week or two to get the right man it's better than rushing it and fucking things up. the fitness coach and porteous are still at the club and it'll be them who have designed the preseason training so they should be able to implement it no problem.

    Mcghee Era

would we not have been better playing saunders or murray in the games lasley played at right back? or giving a young guy a chance rather than playing mcgarry in centre mid at rugby park? or trying out a youngster rather than sticking paul quinn in any posistion we were short in? bringing through young players is a neccesity for a club like ours. it's the cheapest way to keep a decent sized squad and your best bet at getting some transfer money in.
  19. whit! that's nonsense france, germany and holland get well more for a start.
  20. as well as turning the east stand into the playboy mansion and carrying out a stalinesque purging of the 'well fans this is the team i'd put on the park for the first day. buzz quinn reynolds craigan hammell hughes lasley pearson mccormack clarkson mcfadden keep it in the family.

    Mcghee Era

the two of them are free agents so they can basically do what they want regardless of mcghee. i can't see hughes ending up in aberdeen and maros could end up anywhere. he's already said he couldn't afford the pick of our under contract players so we don't have that much to worry about there.
  22. nijholt or mccallister for me now. if we get luke he'll probably be able to get us in a few decent foriegn lads, maybe even someone along the lines of bauben at dundee united who was freed at ajax but is a decent player for the spl. if we get gary mac it'll be a sign JB is willing to spend a bit of cash and he'll probably fund a couple of porter/hughes type signings. either one of the two and a new faces will have us bouncing first day no matter what happens in europe.

    Mcghee Era

i've been pointing this out for a while. the hammell, mcfadden, lasley and pearo generation left and got paid elsewhere. as mcghee has pointed out reynolds, quinn and clarkson will soon be getting offers they can't refuse. who's coming up behind them? apart from jamie murphy, no one. hutchison, slane, mchugh, saunders and page look a decent group but they're all too young to make a big impact for maybe two or even three years. this means we'll need to waste money bringing in mcgarry level guys to fill out the squad which could be spent on bringing in quality. on a bit of a brighter note ross forbes apparently did well at dumbarton, anyone know if he's still under contract next season?
  24. do you watch much of the spl? calderwood has had a far larger budget at aberdeen than he would have at motherwell and in his time there signed plenty of duds - dan smith, tommy wright, jeffrey de vischer to name a recent few - and constantly changes the team and played players out of posistion. he also hangs the players to dry after every defeat. kilmarnock under jefferies are a near enough unwatchable land of the giants kick and rush mob who had about 40 yellow cards more than any other team in the spl this season, nae fair play league with him in charge. and like calderwood he's a terrible loser.
  25. we'll definitely be signing players though i'm not sure i'd want kevin kyle, he was rank against us at RP and most of his goals seemed to come from defensive howlers. i think john boyle will be desperate to finish above aberdeen this season and he'll back a new manager in the same way he backed mcghee - which he did while turning a profit. with all the freed up wages, money for porter and the compo for mcghee there has to be cash to strengthen.
