  1. Thanks guys, good to know I will not be on my own in the land of the long white cloud.
  2. Next Wednesday I leave Scotland for a stint in New Zealand. Are there any other 'well fans out in that corner of the world? I aim to be there for at least the next two years so I expect at least two cup final appearances and a win in at least one in my absence. I know it was hard being a 'well fan in Edinburgh but it is surprising how many of us are out there and I was even lucky enough to meet a few in my time out in South Africa a few years ago. Here's hoping I will not be the only bloke with a claret and amber scarf in Taranaki.
  3. On the subject of Ross McCormack, did anyone see Steven Naismith saying that his career took a dip after he left Rangers but his move to England had worked wonders for him on the BBC last night? What a clueless twat.
  4. I see that FC Koper from Slovenia are a possible 2nd round opponent. Was there last September and seemed a nice place. Ground looked pretty compact though.
  5. Personally cannot see past the last one. Had everything you'd want in a goal and more.
  6. "Unsung heroes" and "team of the year", talk about oxymoronic. The truth is we are the team of the season, again. With our resources we have no right to be where we are, and given the changes in our squad, this years' performance is even more remarkable than last. What the media wanks fail to understand is that, to be a real hero you don't need hype, you have to do something heroic.
  7. So we are out of the running for Craig Gordon?
  8. We need to get a better keeper in. The points we have lost because of Gunnars lapses may not cost us second place this season, but they are a luxury a club like ours canniot normally afford. Randolph and Ruddy may have spoilt us over the last few seasons, but a half decent and safe keeper is surely not beyond our means, Some sympathy with Hollis as he might have fitted that particular bill, but injuries have conspired against him having the chance to prove it.
  9. This always had the look of a dog turd of a match for us. Time to regroup and prepare for our next match.
  10. Our club has been fortunate to have many great players in it's long and proud history. Andy Paton undoubtedly ranks up there with the finest. My late father told me often of how current players could not lace the boots of the likes of Paton and Aitken from the great 'well sides he had seen in his youth. Who am I to argue. RIP and sincere condolences to his family.
  11. Cup defeats are always hard to take and this is no different. I think it tells us where we are this season. There is s serious rebuilding job required and if McCall is not up for it then it will be time for him Togo, s loner rather than later.Worst result ever? Well I am gutted but nothing compared to how I felt after the semi final defeat to Rangers in 1976.Congratulations to Albion Rovers and their fans. They do not have many days like this so I hope they enjoy it.There is always next season for us.
  12. Faddy on the bench and he brings on McHugh.Just listening to McCall and he is bitching about the Sutton goal which he reckons was onside but that can scarcely be used as an excuse. Listening to the one eyed sheepy bastards from the BBC has nearly put the tin hat on it for me. re these twats employed to make the uber c### that is Murdo Macleod seem acceptable? No excuses though, just not good enough from the team this season.
  13. Cheers for the info. Hope he makes it in time.
  14. Is this game likely to have a pay at the gate option? I have a mate over visiting from New Zealand who would love to see a game while he is back in the UK. He is due to get on Saturday so I was thinking about bringing him to Fir Park if he gets here with enough time to spare.
  15. Was this the same day that Durrant got injured in a tackle from Neil Simpson? I think I was at a match at Dens Park- was a student in Dundee at the time- and was following other matches on the radio. Might have been Dundee Hibs, and possibly a two one away win with Steve Archibald scoring.
  16. Have to say that this kit looks fantastic, pity we have nothing like it at present. It made me think of a white away kit I saw us use in season 86/87 (I think) at an away game at Tannadice when I was studying at Dundee Uni. Midweek game and we got humped four nil with both our fullbacks scoring own goals- the second fro0m Philiben was a cracker worthy of Andy Lynch. The only upsides was the classy white kit we were wearing on the day. Anyone got any pics of the away kit from that time?
  17. We live in hope- but a difficult task and not much chance of making much from it as they, and ourselves, are not fashionable clubs. If anyone is thinking about going, visas are available from the Russian consulate in Edinburgh (near Haymarket station) as well as the Embassy in London. I found it easier to use a specialist travel agent, just to sort the visa, when I went to Moscow at short notice a few years ago- again, there used to be one in Edinburgh, might still be there.

    New Away Kit

Agreed- really like that Watford kit- would have been better than the black version we are stuck with. Might encourage me to buy the third kit for my holidays- is forty five too old for a footie shirt?
  19. Very sorry to hear this- one of my favourite players from the time I started watching the 'well. 62 is too young. RIP
  20. If he does go, at least he will have behaved with more dignity over his departure than the fine old gentleman he replaced.
  21. What are we looking at? McCall gone to Sheffield so need a new manager. Law, Humph and Hately off to Ibrox, Higdon and Faddie unlikely to hang around for next season. Anyone elase likely to go? And who or what will be left? Gutting after a great season.
  22. Onward and upward. Things are not as bad as they seem. Okay we are an average side in an average league but Dundee will make it very difficult to get relegated. This is a chance to try some of our promising youngsters as that is the only way forward for a club like ours. We will need them next season when a few of our squad will be on their way. Have been a well fan for forty years and have been through much worse.
  23. I saw it- lived in Edinburgh at the time. Harrow was sent through on the inside right channel, one on one with the keeper and put it across Rough and in off the far post-easy. Gordon Durie Hat-trick, good Joe McBride free kick and another couple and we were robbed.....
  24. Have very fond memories of a 3 nil win at Fir Park with Andy Lynch scoring two late own goals, but would rate the 3-2 cup win after being two nil down at half time and the 4-2 semi final replay win higher.
