  1. Have you guys learned nothing. Louis Moult couldn’t get a game when he first joined and went on to be a hero. Some players take time to adapt to the intensity of Scottish football. He may turn out to be a poor singing, but give him a chance to settle and support him in this endeavour.
  2. There was more than one trialist.
  3. Motherwell close in on Maciver Motherwell are set to sign freed Ross County youngster Ross Maciver on a one-year deal. Attacking midfielder Maciver, 20, who has been training with the Steelmen, impressed Fir Park boss Stephen Robinson enough to win a contract. Motherwell will see the youngster as a replacement for midfield starlet Reece McAlear, 17, who has now joined Premier League side Norwich. Maciver was released after the Staggies pulled out of the reserve league. After coming on as a sub in County’s Irn-Bru Cup win over Montrose in October, Maciver spent last term’s latter stages on loan at Elgin where he scored four goals. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/transfer-news-live-rangers-celtic-18793942
  4. He played in the same PSG youth team as big Cedric.
  5. It’s a guy called Christy Manzinga.
  6. So did anyone else clock the player standing next to Dunne before tonight’s game? Looks like we have another player on trial or in the pipeline. Looked a lot like the guy who scored the overhead kick during preseason.
  7. Hylton, Ilic, Gallagher, Scott, Polworth..... actually most of the team looking good in an attacking sense, which looks like it will get better as understanding grows. A couple of shakey moments at the back which better teams might punish, but i’ll take that for exciting football. Great goal by Hylton.
  8. I’m pretty sure he snapped his patella tendon (knee cap).
  9. Are the highlights on the tv tonight?
  10. I think we are more likely to see a new midfield three of Campbell/Donnelly or McGuire/Polworth or Sloth.
  11. To be fair to Supermarv, you spend the majority of your time on this site talking in riddles. If you know something, have the balls to say it in plain English or don’t try and cryptically spill inside information.
  12. I’d suggest that the use of the word ‘initial’ means that we have a pre-agreed option to keep him for the season if we want to come January.
  13. Interesting to note the gaffer saying we have missed out on 3 wide players that we thought we had over the line. https://www.nottheoldfirm.com/exclusive/motherwell-manager-stephen-robinson-provides-update-on-pre-season-progress-and-transfer-business/
  14. I see Ryan Gauld has been told he’s free to find a new club despite having a year on his contract. Might be worth a gamble as the long term replacement for Turnbull. Wages could be an issue.
  15. I see Salford and Gillingham are trying to sign Jack Payne who is an attacking midfielder on a free transfer. He’s a good player, plays like a number 10, but can play left wing too. Wonder if we will be interested too.
  16. I’ve actually liked the look of Jake Caroll in both games so far. Seems composed on the ball and likes to get forward.
  17. Another concern I have with Shankland is that he carries a bit of weight and isn’t the quickest. I have a suspicion that he won’t be as effective when stepping up a league. Might be why he hasn’t found a club down south yet.
  18. The one issue for me with Shankland is that I don’t think the lone striker role would suit him. I see him as an upgrade on a striker like Danny Johnson i.e. a penalty box poacher.
  19. Chuks Aneke at MK Dons was the other one mentioned who Hearts/Hibs were interested in, who is out of contract this summer. Having watched some clips of him, he would be a great option for us if we could afford him, but again I think wages would be an issue.
  20. Dorrans is a permacrock, which we can ill afford. We need someone who can handle 35-40 games a season. Would be happy with Lafferty and Shankland. Can see the former happening due to the N.Ireland links, but just can’t see Shankland happening. He will have better options than us.
  21. If possible I would have quite liked us to sign Christian Doidge of Forrest Green Rovers, who is a tall Striker, but I see this morning that he is being linked with a £250k move to Hibs. Wages would probably be an issue too.
  22. The strikers we sign, coupled with Scott will be important and so will the wingers (some we are still to sign) will be vital to plugging the hole left by DT’s goals.
  23. I think a combination of Long, Semple and Polworth will fill the AMC role behind the striker.
  24. I can’t see us being able to insert a sell on clause as he is out of contract. Technically we aren’t selling, we are getting training compensation.
