2018'19 Game 1: Hibernian (A) Sunday 5th August

See if you are going to come out with pish, at least get your facts right........Robinson has never managed Carlisle! -
What paper was that in?

Who is the ginger lad in the background in these photo? It doesn’t look like Danny Johnson or Liam Brown. Am I forgetting someone?
-
Hearts new players looked the part today.....it is going be a right good league this year.
-
I’m certainly not saying he should get punted, just that he is chronic at the moment. Looks like the player that Portsmouth fans warned us about. Hopefully he rediscovers his early form with us.
-
Yet again yesterday, I thought he was absolutely honking. He has been absolute murder since the Scottish Cup semi-final and is going backwards at a rate of knots. He only scored yesterday cause the ball hit him in the face without him knowing too much about it. His shots from a good position all ended up high wide and handsome.

Do none of you remember that Dunney was crap first few weeks, but look how he turned out........players that come from the National League need time to adjust to the pace of the Scottish game. Same goes for Gorrin.
-
Well said. Just because they are our young players, does not automatically mean they should be in the team, unless their training and match play deserves it. He and the management team see them in training every day. None of the keyboard managers do! Campbell made it into the team despite being young, because his play merited it! If Robinson didn’t like young players, Campbell wouldn’t have made it into the team. Simples. The truth is that none of the current crop are good enough.......YET.

I’m not moaning about the result, just stating an observation that Main looks to be going backwards.
-
We have to hope Johnson steps up to the plate, however we have seen it before with National League players; they tend to take 2-3 months to get up to Scottish Premiership pace, and some don’t manage the step up at all!
-
The form of Curtis Main is more worrying, he seems to be going backwards fast. Spends more time grappling with defenders than he does actually shooting. He was lucky the goallie threw his shot in against Edinburgh City or else his entire pre-season would have been a blank so far. He’s been honking!

The other recent Salford signing that we missed out on was Rory Gaffney who played for Bristol Rovers.

Motherwell reject Ryan Bowman bid from Grimsby Town The striker has a year left on his contract at Fir Park and Motherwell have warned potential bidders nobody will be sold on the cheap. Motherwell last night booted out a bid from Grimsby Town for targetman Ryan Bowman. Record Sport understands the Fir Park club had no hesitation in knocking back the five figure approach from the League Two outfit as it was way below their valuation. Geordie hitman Bowman is under contract with the Steelmen until next summer after penning a one-year extension in April. The 26-year-old - who was snapped up on a free transfer from Gateshead in August 2016 - is viewed as a key man by boss Stephen Robinson. And Motherwell have told any potential bidders no one in the squad will be allowed to go on the cheap. Well have already bounced a £250,000 bid for Cedric Kipre from Hull City in to touch, with a £1m price tag placed on the Ivory Coast centre back. Bowman won’t command a seven figure fee but is rated at way beyond the numbers on offer from Grimsby. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/motherwell-reject-ryan-bowman-bid-12927272

Probably nonsense, but according to this dubious website, The Rangers want Cadden: https://www.kickoff.co.uk/86622/rangers-set-for-huge-signing-from-premiership-rivals/ RANGERS SET FOR HUGE SIGNING FROM PREMIERSHIP RIVALS It has already been an incredibly hectic summer for Rangers, with comings and goings galore. New boss Steven Gerrard is rebuilding his squad to compete once more and, if reports are to be believed, he’s far from done. The draw of the new project underway at Ibrox is sizeable and, as such, players from around the Scottish Premiership are looking towards the capital hoping for a move. For one man from Motherwell that could soon become a reality. Midfielder Chris Cadden has been linked with a move away from Fir Park for some time now after a number of excellent campaigns, and it now appears that Gerrard sees him as one of the finishing pieces to his puzzle. As a fully capped Scottish international Cadden’s pedigree is clear. What some may wonder, however, is just how much influence he’s able to have on his side domestically. The 21-year-old only played in 17 of Motherwell’s 38 top-flight matches last season, but the positive influence he had on those around him is clear for all to see. As his side endured relative struggles and finished in the bottom half of the table, Cadden’s presence was an all too rare shining light. Average goals scored per game increased by 40% with him in the side, average goals conceded dropped by a third and, most importantly, matches were won 47% of the time compared to just 24% without. Still a young man, Cadden’s is a talent that must be nurtured. In Gerrard, he would have a manager who has played in his position at the highest level, and who would undoubtedly be able to impart invaluable wisdom that would help him during his future career. A move to Rangers would be a magnificent step for Cadden, and he has the quality to contribute to the side right away too. If a fee can be agreed upon that suits Motherwell’s needs, this could be a deal that truly benefits all parties.

So nobody heard any whispers about SR’s targets yet? He said in a recent interview that something might get done before the end of this week.
-
There’s no doubt Dunney had a slow start, but your right, he didn’t half come good after a few months.
-
How did Donnelly look yesterday. Think he could be a good signing.
-
Looks like Tony Watt is signing for St Johnstone.
-
Some ball in by Alex Rodriquez for Main’s header off the bar.
-
I think Bigi will move on and we will sell one of either Campbell or Cadden, which will ease the congestion.
-
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.......stature has two meanings, so it doesn’t need to mean BIG. It can mean stature in the game of football i.e. highly regarded.
-
Mind you, I seem to remember SR referring to Andy Rose as an attacking player when we signed him!
-
I also don’t see how he could be described as creative........he’s a defensive midfielder!?!
