When the players leave I'm confident they will stay in professional football if they choose to. Can't say the same about the manager though.
-
You obviously don't get it. There's a bit more to football management than putting the best 11 on the park and picking a formation. Senior players do need to be told how to defend properly. The whole team has to be told how to defend properly as a unit. That's one of the things they're supposed to work on in training under the managers instruction. If you watch a well coached team you can spot things that they've worked on in training. If you watch us you wonder if the team do anything in training.

IMO he's never had the dressing room to lose. Every interview he's given is full of generic crap that the fans want to hear but you can't get away with that with players. They will have seen right through his gimmicks like yoga and resistance bands and quickly realised the mans an imposter. It's absolutely demoralising for the players when the man in charge is doing things that, to a professional football player, are ridiculous. Strange team selections, strange formations, strange substitutions, no real tactics etc - that's what makes the heads go down and make it look like lacklustre performances. And that's only the parts that we see so heaven only knows what it's like day in day out at training. It all stems from McCall virtually chucking it before the season started and Baraclough inherited a mess but he's been here long enough and made enough signings to make his mark (at least in the short term which is what he should have been looking at) and as far as I can see he's done nothing positive. It's crazy to think that in the past there were demonstrations to get Tommy McLean out the club yet nowadays fans just sit back and watch someone like Baraclough take us down. Changed days indeed.
-
Really? What makes you think that?
-
If it's just the best 11 on the pitch that you're looking for then there are plenty of people on here who could do the job. I think there should be a bit more to it than that.
-
Best 11 means nothing if the tactics aren't spot on and the team aren't playing for the manager. Also, it's all very well some fans talking about professional pride etc but individual players giving 100% isn't the same as THE TEAM giving 100% collectively. That's where I think we are sadly lacking. Individuals are giving their all but we're not a team and that's down to the "manager".

If that imposter Baraclough is in the dugout for the play-off we're going down. His post match interviews are laughable and full of generic pish rather than any real insight into what has actually happened in the game. He's a salesman who googled a few things before his interview and pulled the wool over the amateur board's eyes. I really can't believe we, as a fanbase, are sitting back and accepting this muppet getting us relegated. He needs to go now to give us any chance of staying up and that won't happen unless the fans demand it. IMO if we accept Barraclough as manager for the play-off we're accepting relegation so we can't complain when it happens.

In my opinion he doesn't deserve credit for signing players who have fallen into his lap. If we're relying on that happening in order to get a half decent signing then we might as well give up now. There probably isn't anybody on this board who is paid to manage a football club but I'd bet that given the choice of signing McDonald and Pearson the overwhelming majority would have said yes. Does that mean we deserve credit for being able to spot a player? My opinion on the matter is probably skewed by the fact that I see Baraclough as a total imposter of a manager who has taken those interviewing him for a ride by doing a bit of research and telling them what they want to hear. All the crap about playing open, expansive football, demanding hard work, the players will enjoy playing here etc - all soundbites that fans want to hear but absolutely nothing to back it up and no tactical knowledge whatsoever. He's a salesman and the people interviewing him were taken in by his sales pitch. When he inevitably gets the boot he can go and sell cars with Gannon.
-
I'm not sure mate. Where is the proof usually kept in these situations? It's common knowledge that Pearo was back at the club training and signed from there. With McDonald it was reported that the signing was all down to Alan Burrows seeing that he was available and doing all the legwork. Neither of them were anything to do with Baraclough identifying a target and going after them. He may have been given the final say on whether they were signed or not but he could hardly take any credit for signing them.
-
Pearo and Skippy were nothing to do with Baraclough. Johnson has been the one success but even then he needed to be introduced more gradually this season as has been shown by injuries and dips in form. I think Long is prone to too many mistakes and I'll be glad to see the back of him. Grant has the potential to be a good player in the right team but unfortunately potential is no use to us just now. Long and Laing are both poor IMO and haven't improved the team. Straker is never a professional football player and Nathan Thomas is nowhere to be seen. IMO we needed experience and quality over potential and quantity. 3 players who you could rely on to improve the team, organise and give a bit of dig rather than 7 players untried at this level.
-
So he just signed people for the sake of it? We were (and are) crying out for quality, rather than quantity. He's clueless.
-
Going on our form over the season we're not going to win the next 3 games and avoid the play-off. I really fear for us in a play-off coming up against a team on a high with nothing to lose. That's the reality of it IMO. You're grasping at straws.
-
Seriously? He was allowed to sign a load of players in the last transfer window and made a total arse of it.
-
What has he done to suggest he'll improve anything?
-
Some fans have given up hope because they are being realistic. We are a poor outfit with a terrible manager who has virtually no plan A never mind a plan B. Unless something drastic changes we are going down. We've had 1 point out of 3 must-win games against poor opposition so I don't understand why anybody would be confident of us suddenly coming good.
-
IMO, if he stays we're going down. If he gets replaced we might still go down but it's worth the gamble to give us a chance. He's a salesman, tells people what they want to hear but he has virtually no tactical knowledge. It's evident that the players have no respect for him.
-
This is a message board where people give their opinion. How do you SUPPORT THE TEAM on a message board?
-
Hopefully the dross he's signed.
-
Barra might know the score but he definitely doesn't know how to manage a football team.
-
Who is the word h*n used to describe on here? Protestants or Rangers fans?
-
Lol. I don't think many people were basing the "cheap option" claim solely on salary,
-
You really don't think anybody could come in and do a better job of organising and motivating the players? And that we couldn't have done better business in the transfer window? Even though we have effectively got worse since Barraclough came in and made those signings? Holy shit.
-
Apologies, misread it. That's even worse though.
-
"We still believe we can bridge the gap". Who does he think he's kidding? There's no belief in that team at all.
-
Having as many fans as possible didn't make a blind bit of difference tonight or last Saturday.
