  1. Just had the Civica email through to vote, it went into my junk folder just to forewarn anyone that possibly thinks they haven't received it to check! Should come through from takepart@cesvotes.com I've voted to reject the Wild Sheep offer as both a Well Society member and as a shareholder, I'd urge anyone still undecided to look at how heavily weighted towards the incoming party that this 'offer' is. The 2yr buyback option for instance means the Society would be out of pocket to the tune of £1m. The Barmack's would leave with the £600k they would've put in by then?! Giving an incoming chairman casting vote and control of the board from day one on an 8% shareholding wouldn't fly in any other business and it shouldn't do here either!
  2. Sent £10 via the Paypal link, thanks again for running this!
  3. I'm maybe being a bit naive here but the way I see this share sale is akin to the folk that sell plots of land on the moon, you pay your money get a nice wee presentation certificate and on your way. Your never going to see any dividend, return or otherwise, it's just another means of raising cash for the society.
  4. They're probably trolling us...it'll be Russell Griffiths!
  5. See Stephen O'Donnell (formerly of Patrick Thistle) has been released by Luton. Possibly a shout?
  6. Hello mate, there's no ICT vs St Johnstone and 2 x Hearts vs Dundee listed on this Saturdays round of fixtures?
  7. All the best to Kennedy, looked like the kind of defender we needed when he first signed but seemed to lose his way. Always more difficult for a young defender to come through in a losing team, especially a team with the defensive problems we have!
  8. Couldn't make it on Monday night, glad to hear it all went well. Any chance of posting the questions up? Like a good quiz!
  9. Ally Maxwell? Can't recall anyone since?!
  10. Really hope this is where we took our inspiration for the new strip...
  11. http://www.worcesternews.co.uk/sport/13329868.No_cash_injection_for_Kidderminster_Harriers_if_Marvin_Johnson_seals_move/ As much as I'd like to see Marv stay, if we get an offer anywhere near £1m then I'd say it'd be good business to sell on. The balls in our court in so much as I believe we have him under contract till 2018, but I think an offer anywhere near £1m would be difficult for the club to turn down.
  12. Hello mate, I don't think the ranking table has updated for a wee while?
  13. Stenhousemuir are unseeded, Dumbarton have been put in the North 2nd seed pot, think they would've had to be swapped with either Rangers, Morton, St Mirren or QotS to go into the South 2nd seed pot.
  14. Just read a wee bit about the new format, hadn't realised they were introducing a bonus point in draws. "The group stage uses the traditional three points for a win and one point for a draw model however, in another innovation, all drawn matches will go straight to a penalty shoot-out whereby the winner of the shoot-out will be awarded a bonus point, believed to be a first in world football." Could make it quite interesting!
  15. There's how you do an AGM!
  16. I'm sure Vaulks signed a new deal with Falkirk which keeps him there till May 2017, not sure we would pay a fee for him? But I've been impressed with him whenever I've seen them play (albeit only when they've been on TV)
  17. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3401453/Meet-Grimsby-Town-striker-Padraig-Amond-not-lethal-striker-England-s-better-Lionel-Messi-Cristiano-Ronaldo-Neymar.html Read a wee bit about this boy when I had heard we were interested in him back in Feb 15, shame we missed out then as I think he might move onto better things at the end of this season.
  18. Agree with you on some of our supports obsession with admin staff, it really bore the tits off me! Thought your point about McGhee's record with signings was a wee bit unfair though. I thought some of his signings in his first spell were pretty decent, he didn't really bring in many players but the players he brought in did fairly well for us. Given some of his loan signings were hit and miss but on the whole they did a job. Just out of interest; 2007-08 Transfers In Chris Porter Stevie Hammell Stephen Hughes Bob Malcolm 2008-09 Transfers In John Sutton Jim O'Brien Loans In Simon Lappin Cillian Sheridan Maros Klimpl Lewis Grabban Luke Daniels Arthur Krysiak Gunnar Nielsen Semih Aydilek
  19. So what your saying is the type of contract football uses is different from that used in the employment of other workers. So "employment of footballers is unlike normal employment." Make your mind up Steelboy! If transfer fees were only between the clubs and nothing to do with the players, then why do they get signing on fees written into their contracts!
  20. https://gclaw.wordpress.com/2014/05/13/player-contracts-football-transfers-v-european-union-law-analysis/ An interesting read and if the EU bureaucrats get their way it really would put the last nail in the coffin for small clubs like us!
  21. What other profession has a transfer market where vast sums of cash are spent? Football is different from the normal world! If EU and UK employment law applied to football, then players would be able to hand in a months notice and resign? No?
