  1. Thanks Killie1965. I'm pleased you won the Cup and glad we offered the appropriate response to a sad incident.
  2. Dixie Deans scored 78 goals from 152 appearances and surely deserves recoignition when you consider WP just bettered it by his 80 goals in 146 appearances and WP is regarded as a legend.
  3. I would find it difficult to better or add to the 20 listed by TheLip69 other than maybe John Goldthorpe and Jackie McInally
  4. Not confident about this one. Killie are hard to beat and they played very well against Celtic. I hope they are still hungover but I fear we will struggle to beat them. 1-1 draw I feel.
  5. The title of the thread pretty much sums it up.
  6. I would love that also but difficult to see how anyone will beat Celtic now. The pressure of winning the League has been lifted and they can play with ease.

    Vs Hearts

A great result and a timely change in our home form. Hearts are slipping backwards and it's hard to see them putting a run together that would overhaul our position. St Johnstone though are still in the mix.
  8. I think we're getting carried away with ourselves if we think Wullie P was good enough to be playing for one of the big English teams when he was in his Prime. Rangers and Celtic didn't even consider him good enough to make a decent bid for him. For my money Dixie Deans was a better centre forward than Pettigrew. Probably not statistically so in his time with us because he wasn't there long enough before Celtic came calling.
  9. Yes but the Saint also went on to have a really good career with Liverpool. Not knocking the legend Willie P but if we're comparing him with St John he falls short IMO.
  10. I read that Paw Broon said That's different from saying he thinks he's worth 5 Million though.
  11. I thought we struggled with St Johnstone's physical superiority and I was worried at set pieces as they looked a bigger side. They certainly came to get in about us and thankfully we got the result. Penalty was very soft and overall a great result which gives us a little breathing space. Ojamaa looks a find and hopefully he can develop the relationship up front with Higdon. I always prefer two up as it's easier to get on the end of knock-ons than it is to support from midfield.
  12. Lasley for me. His tackling and breaking up of opposition play was superb and he capped off a fine performance with a goal.
  13. A sad loss, condolences to his family. RIP Bill
  14. Joe Wark was an oustanding professional, fantastic left back and not a bad keeper either. He wins comfortably IMO.
  15. He is never going to get in front of defenders if the ball is cut back by the winger as he's normally slower than them. He's not a poacher type of player and therefore he needs a partner to feed off his flick ons and one-two's. Having said that, we had a lot of set pieces against Kilie and he wasn't close to getting on the end of anything. That might be something to do with the deliveries mind you.
  16. Spent many a good night there myself
  17. A point away at Killie is a good result but it's all about how well we defend. If we can keep a clean sheet I fancy us to score one or even two and win the match.
  18. Baku is ok as long as you don't stray too far from the city centre. It's dangerous, poverty ridden, policed by mafia in black leather coats and not a place I would like to live in.
  19. I played for the Boys Club when we were coached by a couple of the players and trained at Fir Park. We were also given the old kit to play in when it was past its sell by date. That was B and I still have photo's of me in that strip and therefore it was an easy choice.
  20. Milne at Aberdeen is a prime example of a multi-millionaire owner of a football club who has a vast personal wealth and yet runs the club on a 'biscuit tin' budget. He is not one for bank rolling players salaries to bring in better quality and sticks within the wage structure. Craig Whyte is another who looks to be spending cannily even though he has a fortune tucked away. I would suggest we would all like to think we would throw money at the club but in reallity some sense of fiscal prudence would be the order of the day.
  21. He would out in a written transfer request three weeks after arriving citing he misses his kids, Motherwell is a shite town etc as is his modus operandi. Tevez is a parasite getting fat on huge sign-on fees whilst showing scant regard for his contractual obligations or employers.
  22. It''s only nostalga that keeps things as they are. Change for change sake is never a good thing but if there are sensible reasons for change then it should be carried through. People get used to change and accept it as long as there is dialogue and not rammed down their throat. We don't neccesarily need to retain references to 'Steel Town' or 'Fir Trees' in our badge especially as the former is not really the case and the latter if we move to Ravenscraig. Don't get me wrong, I would be happy if the club and popular consensus was to reatin things as they are but I'm also open to change if the ideas make sense. You never know, change could give the club a new perspective and fresh impetus. Let's approach Emirates for cash to build a new stadium at Ravenscraig. They seem to sponsor everything these days and will give them access to the SPL and Scottish markets to advertize their flights from Glasgow to Dubai.
  23. Willie McVie a cenre half from Clyde. I remember he took a free kick form half-way and proceeded to kick the ground before the ball with the divot flying further than the ball and injuring himself in the process. He was also one of the dirtiest players ever to wear the C&A.
  24. Some people are not happy unless they have something to moan about SD. I have rarely come across a bigger shower of negative people than populates this forum.
