One of the worst keepers I've ever seen at Motherwell, he's the only goalie I've ever saw who when on a one to one with a striker, he made himself smaller. He picks up the bronze medal behind John Gardiner and Lee Hollis. Really hope we get a decent keeper signed up soon, Long done enough for me in those play offs to show he has something!!

I recall Andy Roddie performing like Ronaldo that day as well, skinning full backs and firing in good crosses!! Finest 30 minutes of his career!! I also was sick with Sunstroke for a couple of days afterward, those were the days when my moobs were not fully formed and taps aff was acceptable!!

We have a positive manager for a change, one who's not a total shitebag when it comes to cup games or having a go at teams!! Very confident of sitting comfortably in the top 6 this year and a good Scottish cup run.....not arsed about the league cup!!
-
Excellent news, On his game he's one of the best players in the league, just hope Bara gets the best out him!! Happy with the Chalmers signing as well, I was speaking to someone in the know at Celtic and he was annoyed they let him go, thought he had a big future there. McDonald, Long, Laing and Lyle Taylor next please

Sadly yes, but I still consider that recent history, it doesn't feel that long ago for me!! The 2 teams in the 50s just trip off the tongue for me, my dad did a serious amount of Motherwell brainwashing back in the day!! don't even get me started on the Ancell Babes

League cup final team - Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Shaw, McLeod, Paton, Redpath, Watters, Forrest, Kelly , Watson Aitkenhead Scottish Cup Team - Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Shaw, Cox, Paton, Redpath, Sloan, Humphries, Kelly, Watson Aitkenhead Unbelievably I know this off heart, my old father made me rhyme these teams off as a 6 year old in the 1970s..... Talk about a screwed up childhood!!

I thought it would be a resounding naw!! ha if he can stay fit for a season good luck to him, even if it does mean ripping our defence apart, with whoever it is that takes a punt on him!!
-
McFadden anybody? I just think he's only 32, i know he'll have at least 1 good season left in him if he can avoid injury and complete a pre-season! (i understand he's not done a full pre-season in 4 years) OK, he was injured last year for a period but i think that was partly down to lack of fitness, but was coming on to a game at the tail end of the season and looking fit until his contract expired!! I'm convinced he's still got it in him, played in the right position (not where Mcall played him) i think he'd do us a right turn!! also.........he wants to play for us!!
-
Dissapointed to lose big Erwin as i think he's a talent and i think he's come on a tonne under Baraclough, however £500k is not to be sniffed at, on the bonus side for us, he does have Barry Hughes as his agent, therefore we would have been shafted at some point anyway!! Cue him movin to a few clubs over the next 5 years or so lining the pockets of Mr Hughes!! Also with what looks like Jamie Murphy moving to either Bristol or Brighton that'll be another £150k coming to us, we might have a bit of dosh to play with during the close season!!

I thought the whole shambolic package of incidents made it a real day to remember, if the club get fined, i'd happily stick a few quid in to help out!! From the petty h**s leaving at the first goal chucking on their pathetic flare / the flag in the coupon incident (as stated on the sevco website "the assailant is still at large" ) the full 30 minutes of goading before the final whistle / the Moshni incident....hysterical /...fans invading the park and taunting the zombie nation.../ big Erwins interview/....Lasley singing!! Even now the happiness is still too much to take in!!

I hate the sash strip, the word sash just annoys me!! all that's missing is a pair of white gloves and a bowler hat. Traditional full hoop, its the only way!! Or a pair of hooped shorts like Scotlands 86 world cup strip..........or maybe not!!
-
My dad was talking to Ainsworth's missus a couple of weeks ago and she said she was really worried as Lionel's contract was up and nothing had been discussed as yet about a new deal. She was clued up about the fact the result of the play offs were going to determine whether we would keep him on or not. Main thing is she said was she loves it here and is desperate to stay!! pretty positive he'll stay put.

Vigurs is a talented football player, anyone who cant see that hasn't a clue!! However, It doesn,t matter how much ability you have as a player, if you have no heart or fight on the field you are a wasted jersey. Vigurs falls into the heartless category which is a shame as he's wasting a real talent!!
-
I'm more optimistic for the forthcoming season than I've been in years. I think Baraclough has something to offer. His backroom staff he's employed look excellent. I doubt very much football golf is on the agenda at pre-season and I doubt we'll see any overweight players at any of the pre-season friendlies!!

Utterly phenomenal few days!! never have I celebrated goals like I did today!! Just watched the full game again on BT sport and as big Erwin put it in his interview....."We battered 'em" Huge credit to Baraclough, he showed total balls the way he put out the team at Ibrox and he showed great tactical know how today, cos I have no doubt if McCall was in charge of us during this play off we'd be in the Championship next year!! I had a great view of the incident at the end as it was right in front of us, Big Erwin was not at fault imo, apart from a wee bit of petulance with the shove, he looked in total shock when that f*kin idiot went ape at him!! was delighted with wee Ainsworth tho who waded in immediately....i'm actually pretty sure he managed a right hook on Moshni as well!! As for the flare on the park, I believe it was a h*n sitting a few rows from the front, I was told he chucked it and bolted out along with a few of his fellow unwashed after Marvins goal!! Some of the bile allowed In the Main stand today was unacceptable, I don't care what the media or our bank manager says, the longer these bigoted dinosaurs remain out of the top flight and out of our stadium, the better for everyone concerned!! -
My way of coping with the situation is to expect defeat and expect Championship football next season, i'm not going to get carried away and be thinking we'll beat Sevco, been there too often in the past and have hurt bad!! League cup final to name only one!! However: If we were to beat them......not that i expect it.....it will be without doubt one of my all time highlights watching Motherwell.....Up there with 1981/82 season, '91 Semi Final & Final and Dortmund away!!
-
Both equally average, i don't think changing will make any difference. We had the worst keeper in my memory last year with Hollis and we finished 2nd!! I think we have bigger issues in our defence, apart from Hammell who I'd always back, the other imposters are a big reason to where we have ended this season!!
-
He'll sort it out with a couple of double Yoga sessions over the next few days, you mark my words........this time next year the Petrofac cup will be within our grasp!! The Holy Grail of trophies!!
-
Might get a few fans annoyed here but if its Sevco I would give them the Cooper and let us try and fill the rest of the stadium. Lets face it for that day we'll have a lot of "neutrals" wanting tickets and willing for a 'Well win, I would hope on such an important occasion for us tho, our fans will turn out.
-
We blew it 2 weeks ago against Thistle, the wind blew right out our arses that day!! That was the end of our glorious comeback!! It's all about preparing the team for 2 play off games now, next 3 games are about getting players fit again and being able to play a high tiempo game against whoever wins the championship play off......and its no cert who we'll play either, QOTS on an artificial park is not something I relish!!
-
We'll get 6 points out a possible 15. Play-offs ahead.....time to deal with it!!

Partick Thistle V Motherwell 11/04/15 - Huge Away Crowd Expected
mio replied to Last post by:'s topic in Club Chat
Thistle are a poor lot but they fought for every ball today and deserved their win. We were beyond shambolic. We lost the first goal due to Macdonald being stuck in left mid giving away a needless foul, then followed by defending that wouldn't be accepted at under 11 level. £22 today to watch that gutless performance is hard to take, the players let us down "again" today.
