..............motivating the players. To get them up for games like inverness and st mirren.

Its fair enough saying they get payed so they should be up for every game but they aren't are they?

They were well up for celtic and fought for every ball but when it comes to inverness we were back to square one, where some of the players looked like they didn't even want to be there.

Imogen they went into every game with the same mindset as they did v Celtic.

This is what backs up my viewpoint that Stuart McCall is not the man for us.

It is the job of the manager to motivate his players and get them up for games against the sides around us in the league and McCall is falling short on this front. It's absolutely no use beating Aberdeen away from home when it's a 'grudge match' and beat a high flying Celtic completley out of the blue if you are losing so meekly against St.Mirren and Inverness immediately afterwards.

We are not a good side just now and before anyone says it, I know and understand full well that we are not a 'big club' who should just expect to beat certain teams but it's the manner of our recent losses that is causing me the greatest concern. Although I didn't see the game today, we have looked completey directionless and under motivated since McCall took over and that is simply unacceptable and that is why I am not happy with him being our manager.

The fact is that they did beat Hamilton but that does not tell the full story. Yes Well won but with a penalty against the poorest side the SPL has seen for a few years. I made this point about motivation after the Celtic game and was accused of being a negative vibe merchant after such a historic win but the fact is that if you can play really well against Aberdeen, Rangers (CIS Cup) and Celtic and not really show up in other games it would be niave not to spot the patterns.

I don't buy this argument that the current squad of players are not good enough. You don't beat Aberdeen at Pittodrie and Celtic at home with a bunch of diddys. Sacking McCall would be a disgrace as our board appointed him only two months ago but I am no more confident that McCall is the man for the job now than I was on the day he was appointed. This season will fade away probably with a bottom six finish. Next season is the real test.

Have they ever though? Granted, I'm not as old as some of the fans on here...but I've been going to FP since 87/88 and I've learned enough that we shouldnae have been surprised at what happended yesterday afternoon.

 I'm surprised that some are surprised that's just what we do and always have, even TomTom's great side of the mid-90s dropped something like 9 points to St Johnstone who were relegated that year, and IIRC the same to Partick Thistle who were shite as always.

It's about time you started talking sense, I totally agree.

+1 rep since it'll be ages before you say anything else worth rep.

You find out more about a manager in games against the likes of ICT, than you do in games against the OF.

Most teams raise their game against the OF that's a given you shouldn't need to motivate a team for those games, equally I think a lot of our players had points to prove up at Pittodrie, although it wasn't until they went down to 10 men that we actually managed to get on top.

Failing to beat St Mirren, scraping past an awful Accies side and getting thumped by a team with one win in their last 14 matches does not fill me with confidence.

We should have built on the positives from the win over Celtic, we didn't and, in my opinion, that's bad management.

Why change a winning team? Why drop Humphrey for Jeffers? I fail to see the sense in that particular move, Humphrey's pace nullified the attacking threat of Izaguirre last week, he had a couple of chances to increase our lead and failed yes, but he worried the Celtic defence and he was always an outlet for our defenders. We're consistent in our inconsistency.

partick thistle used to always hump us! I hated them, but their colours were different so I let them aff

Aye, Thistle were our bogey team for quite a while. It also wasn't too long ago that we were pretty much responsible for keeping a poor Dundee side in the SPL through the number of points we gave them.
