ONeils40yarder
Seen the players on the pitch wearing the "new" strip. It's the same one with a new sponsor. HAHA hope you are right and I've got a feeling that you are

Jonesy
the new sponsor is for 2 years instead of our usual 1 year pish We've only had 1 sponsor which lasted for 1 year have we not? Yet it's still been new kits every season.
SteelEdge
I quite like getting new strips. New season coming, new strips, the anticipation, the launch... it brings out a wee bit of child like excitement. Maybe a bit sad, but I don't care. Plus if the previous strip wasn't the best (Zoom kit, jester) then a change can't come quick enough. I can sympathise with folk that have kids mind you. Having said that, I wouldn't have minded last season's being kept for another season as I thought they were crackers.

weeyin
Am I alone in thinking the jester one was pretty smart? Seems to be loved or hated in equal measure. I'm afraid I'm in the 'hate' camp, but then again, I was in the minority in loving the old 'yellow' Adidas one from the early 80s.
StipeIsGod
Which was the Jester strip? My personal favourite goes against my normal taste and is the white collar effort [of (2-5) years ago?]
Gaag
We've only had 1 sponsor which lasted for 1 year have we not? Yet it's still been new kits every season. that's cos the kit deals and sponsors never seem to run concurrently round here. Sponsor stays? Kit maker changes, or vice versa. That's why we've had 6 new strips in 6 years.

That's why we've had 6 new strips in 6 years. I was just pointing out that even though none of our sponsorships deals are due to expire at the end of the season, we could still end up with a new strip. Even when we had a year when no sponsorship deals were due for renewal the club decided to cancel one of them. I wouldn't bet against us having another new kit next year. More than likely it'll be due to the template we pick this year not being available to order again next year, so it'll be another choice from the new catalogue. Well-Made
I was just pointing out that even though none of our sponsorships deals are due to expire at the end of the season, we could still end up with a new strip. What needs to run concurrently is the sponsorship AND the agreement with the strips manufacturer. Part of the Fans Charter that was drawn up was there would be a minimum of 2 years between changes. This hasn't been possible due because of the sponsorship recently being for 1 year deals. Some fans may be sceptical and say it's the way the Club negotiate the deal, deliberately only offering 1 year deals, so that fans put their hands in their pocket every year. Others would say there isn't anyone clever enough to think that way at the club. The 1 year deals also means that the club can get away with changing the template every year. The thing that has to be pointed out though is we aren't the only club changing strips every year, you just need to look at the new strip thread in Other Football to see that. Jonesy
Very negative view, but what sponsorship did the club cancel? I suppose it's more a kit manufacturer than a sponsor; Bukta.
Jonesy
What needs to run concurrently is the sponsorship AND the agreement with the strips manufacturer. I get that, but what I was getting at is that even then, it's not guarenteed that it'll be a kit for 2 years. 6 strips in 6 years, but only a single 1 year deal in that entire time. I was only mentioning that as someone said this years deal with Cash Converters was a 2 year deal rather than the 'usual' 1 year deal Yet even when the manufacturer/sponsor ran concurrently we still had strip changes due to the club cancelling with a manufacturer and Canterbury gonig bust the following year. underboyleheating
I suppose it's more a kit manufacturer than a sponsor; Bukta. I'm sure the club had no choice, as Bukta were struggling, so much that a few teams had to quickly change manufacturer as Bukta couldn't deliver the goods as promised. I'm not even sure if they still supply kits to professional teams. I think their core business is now retro leisurewear and amateur teamwear. Shame as they were once the biggest supplier of football kits in Britain and probably Europe.

johnstone
Who gives a flying fuck anyway. I wait until the strips are about £5 in the bargain bin at the shop. Its a persons choice if they want to buy a strip so I have no idea how people can get worked up about one being released every year. A new version of Football Manager, FIFA, Pro Evo is released every year and no one complains. Mind you I still play FM 2007 cos I am cheapskate fucker! I'm not carrying this on because it looks like I'm starting to sound like TheLip. Wasn't really having a go at the club about it. Again, just pointing out the fact that it's not 1 year deals that keeps causing the strip changes, but other factors have forced it.
fat_tony
Am I alone in thinking the jester one was pretty smart? Not at all, I loved it. johnstone
Eh, because I bought last seasons strip for my two wee yins last pre-season, now I'll need to buy this seasons for my two wee yins this season as they wont want to kick about in last seasons gear. It'll cost me about £80 to kit the two of them out, when there is fuck all wrong with the strip that they currently have. And please dont anybody say 'well sometimes you need to say 'no' to weans' because I say no to them a load of times, but in brainwashing them into following MFC i have made a rod for my own back. Please tell me you are taking the piss. Please.

something else
Who shat in your handbag? Don't you know by now that mr Diggle is the greatest Motherwell fan ever who just hates in when someone has the audacity to criticize the club? For example if someone from the club done a jobbie and stuck a motherwell badge on it, fired it in the club shop window and charged a tenner for it, folk would be up in arms, criticizing the club for ripping us off. Enter SteveDiggle with his "some folk are never happy, the club are tryin their best, some people on here just love to moan..."
