Malky79
McHugh did alright considering Murphy is far from an ideal strike parter. Sure if you have skills of Romario and Bebeto then two diminutive strikers can work no problem. But by and large in the SPL a bit of physical presence is a must and that clearly showed. That said arguably McHugh coped the better of the two though you can see he doesn't have the same natural ability as Murphy he put a shift in and of the two came the closer to getting a goal. Still no idea if he has enough about him to make it at this level but on evidence so far I undecided. If pushed I suspect he might come up short but if Higdon were fit I'd fancy he might do ok for us at least in the short term. I really hope though regardless of Murphy staying or going we get in another striker, midfielder and probably left sided defender to give us at least a decent bench. stuwell
Although maybe not quite ready for the 1st team week in week out, I think McHugh is a decent squad player who will grow in confidence through the season. As for needing another left back, from what I saw of Halsman against Leeds, I'd say we have a decent back up for Hammell who would do us a turn if needed. On the subject of youngsters coming through I also think that Lawless, Smith, McKinnon and Page will be useful additions this season. My one concern is that Ross Forbes - who I still think has great potential - just doesn't seem to be able to get into his stride when playing for us. Don't know if its an mental block or what but I really hope he kicks in this year and starts turning potential into reality.
dosser1886
Old cliché for a striker but all he hopefully needs is a goal or two to get his confidence up.
