Going slightly off topic with the strips chat but I have vague memories of both trips to Tannadice despite only being about six or seven. I remember being in the Main Stand for the League Cup game and it seemed like it was the middle of the night when we got back home.

The other, possibly based on those League Cup games, my old man reminds there were hundreds of buses of Motherwell fans up for the Scottish Cup game. What was it? Something like 4-0 down after 10 minutes!! Apparently I'm to be found on Sportscene highlights waving my flag after our consolation goal!

20 mins I think Andy, I was on the highlits as well, jumping on ma neeburs back celebrating as if we'd just gone one up.

Was that not the quarter final in March 81 there was amasive well support, I went on a bus from the Hattonrigg,,,,,,,,,We got roasted 6-1 :wallbash:

Afters 20 odd minutes it was 4-0 a nd we then pulled one back(Mayhem on those extra steep terrace STANDING slopes of Tannadice) then two in the second half to finish us off

This should be the new offical 'Well song

Singing ............................................................................

"Memories light the corners of my mind

Misty water color memories of the way we were

Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind

Smiles we gave to one another fore the way we were

Can it be that it was all so simple then

Or has time rewritten every line

And if we had the chance to do it all again

Tell me would we, could we

Memories may be beautiful and yet

What's too painful to remember

We simply choose to forget

So it's the laughter, we will remember

Whenever we remember the way we were

Memories light the corners of my mind

Misty water color memories of the way we were

Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind

Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were "

The Adidas kit has always been one of my favourites

As a lover of old school Adidas, it was a missed opportunity to make the perfect Motherwell kit.

Pure fantasy, but I would have changed the pale yellow to amber and added a hoop. Oh, and made sure that we had our very own away!

Sadly missed, he was a great player! Interesting that there is no MFC monogram on his top.

Ally McLeod was the manager back then and when he was asked the same question he said when the players are good enough then we will have a badge on the kit ...or words to that effect. Anyway, we got the MFC monogram and later our current badge.

Re the badge back in the early seventies when the central SMT bus company had a depot in East Kilbride a bus conductor from Blantyre was a dinky die Motherwell fan, he had a little hold all bag claret in colour and amber text Motherwell FC also on the bag was the current MFC badge (not with the 125 text) I wondered why the club took so long in wearing that badge on the strips.

Yes Brian is sadly missed a great player for Motherwell.

In the 70s we only ever used the MFC script monogram badge. I was informed by an embroidery expert that the font used was one of many installed in machines at the time, in fact Montrose F.C. used the very same font for their badge (see picture). The font has long disappeared, and was one of the main reasons I had to recreate it for our 125 retro shirt.

To my knowledge our current club badge wasn't designed until the early 80's, so unless the conductor was a time traveller it would not have been possible for him to have had our current badge on his 1970s bag (although we had similar fir tree badges that appeared on club yearbooks). I think the badge may also have been designed by a fan. Maybe in a Tales of the Unsuspected way, that conductor got his wish. Spooky!scare2.gif
